    I love this one. Shows how to pull the fat out of the fire and that's important. Many artists won't show that. I appreciate it. There's gold in your vids. Thank you.

    The question and answer portion was such a good addition. I especially liked hearing you say that every single painting goes wrong in some way. It is a joy to watch you paint, and to listen to you speak about watercolor.

    Hi Grahame, I just found your channel and website and am enjoying it completely. This was a great tutorial, especially the fix of the sunset with the spray bottle. I really appreciate all the detailed explanation you do with the whys and hows. I'm in the US and would like to know how Millford paper compares to Arches or Fabriano paper. Are they comparable to get the effects you get?

    • @PaintingWatercolour
      @PaintingWatercolour  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mitch I'm not sure that Millford is available in the US but both Arches and Fabriano would be fine to use. Arches is probably closest but I find paint doesn't lift off very well on Arches. The intention is to create nice wet in wet effects.

      @@PaintingWatercolour Thank you for that info. I'm in the midst of painting the "Winter Sunset" on Arches and it's working out well.

    Nice painting! I really like the way you used the photo as a guide, but made it your own especially in the area with the figure. So much of the time I think, we try to paint everything exactly the way we see it in the photo, or scene, instead of enhancing the shapes and values to make better a balanced painting! (Btw, Love your voice, I could listen all day!)👍

    Have you ever painted it?

      I have been to Skye Catherine but haven't painted the Old Man of Storr. Spectacular rock formations like this can be rather tricky in watercolour!

    • @PaintingWatercolour

      Well spotted Anil and it is indeed an Indian subject - City Palace Road in Udaipur. I had a workshop there a few years ago.

    I use Daniel Smith paints and have trouble with granulation of French Ultramarine even though I paint with board at 45 degree angle. Help

    • @PaintingWatercolour
      @PaintingWatercolour  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is difficult to completely avoid granulation with ultramarine Gail but you could try using a hairdryer. I know it sounds odd but it does seem to reduce granulation. You could also try phthalo blue red shade which is reasonably similar to ultramarine but doesn't normally granulate.
