Huh, I was already overleveled from the Abyss and fighting everything on my way to Star Door 15 so Phantasmagoria was a complete joke of a dungeon, even with certain party members being in the low 100s in level

Very underrated battle theme. Probably in my top 3 for the Sky trilogy.
The mask comes undone, and the neoclassic metal chases you all the way back out of hell.
Okay, here's why I absolutely love this one. It goes like this:
- 0:00 Intro
- 0:13 A section (Castlevania-esque, heroic theme)
- 0:37 B section (wild, furious climb)
- 1:01 C section (disastrous stumbling)
- 1:13 Intro variation (faster!)
- 1:26 A section again (no changes)
- 1:50 B section again (no changes)
Okay, so at this point, we've heard A,B twice, so we might assume that we've already hit the "repeat from beginning" part of the track, right? And if you perform well in the Abyss, you might go on thinking that for a while. After 2 minutes, you're probably already done with the battle in most cases, right?
But battles in the Abyss can go south if you're not prepared. And if that happens, and you're still fighting, the next thing that comes in the song is....
- 2:14 An entirely new, slower section that perfectly captures the feeling of "struggle" you're probably feeling in that moment.
We go into half time. A piano solo plays. Incredible. And then it's back to...
- 2:41 C section (still disastrous)
- 2:54 Intro variation again (still fast)
And THEN, finally, we repeat for real.
Sadly it doesn't play for the abyss bosses which would take longer to beat
The B and C section's giving me Kenji Ito/SaGa vibes.
I also immedately thought of a Castlevania stage
2:14 also contains the main theme of this game "Cry For Me"
Absolute masterpiece.
Iconic piece. Very epic and heroic, love the harmonies. The baroque style mixed with guitar is amazing.

That alone makes this ost into one of my favourite falcom music.

I love that song... Actually it was in Nayuta no Kiseki that i heard it first (actually a remix) and only later i learned that is is originally from Sora 3rd... Amazing.

this game was shit but damn it had good music, kevin deserved a better game with more of a story instead of the dungeon crawler bs that the 3rd game was
moffatt I thought the game was pretty good?
it prob was but not for me, i loved the first 2 games because they had a world that looked beatifull with every npc saying something different, sidequests and dialouge in general. the first and second chapter of trails in the sky had alot of comments and dialouge that was not needed to be there but it was adding to the characters and such and i was just turned of that the 3rd game pretty much threw that out the window. i would have liked to just follow kevin around as he was collecting artifacts and doing other stuff that he did as a preist like teach sunday school. but instead i got a world that didnt mean shit with kevin slowly turning depressed and with a side protag that i never knew existed before this game. might just be me but i just wanted to follow him around when he did hes job xD

true, but i think looking at this game from its view, it did good story-wise and game-wise - 3rd was meant to be more of an epilogue tbh than one w/ fully fledged world like the other 2 and it did a fine job of that
Nah, i don't think it did a very good job as an epilogue since all which was open at the end of Sky (where is Renne for exemple is put into air) and only answer question nobody ever talked. (How does the antagonist from FC feel now ?) The relationship between Estelle and Joshua didn't evolve too as their story is finished and nothing in 3rd really changed anything;
What the 3rd did however is expending the world of Kiseki to make it able to support other stories... For example the excellent exchange between Oliver and Chancellor Osborne is really a prelude of what will happen in Cold Steel. The strange salt tower which is one of the church report seems to also be something which will be discussed later in the series. Sometime, it also expend the world in a less grandiloquent way like "just knowing Tita parents".
But for the rest, it really is its own story which isn't bad, it just have the same density of Joshua past... But Joshua past is reveled in one go dur SC and Kevin past is revelated through little piece over an entire game, so yeah, it doesn't make the same impression.
i also wasn't too impressed with The Third, Falcom wasn't very good at making dungeon entertaining in that series (well, to be honest, if ys hadn't such a good gameplay, i don't know if their dungeon would be so entertaining... Like Zweii 1 ) so it's no wonder this game is so slow and boring for a lot of people. I would have preferred The Third to be a Visual Novel like Radical Dreamers for CT. That would have been a better alternative to me since all stories inside the door were really cool.
