You have some nice fig trees there! One note, you can take cuttings from any healthy branch. Take cuttings from about 12 inches from the end. Remove all leaves, but leave the bud on the very end. Good luck!
I did cuttings from accidentally broken branches and some of it took, some of them did not. This is a great way to get sure winner! Thank you!
This is the only way I have ever tried as I've never had one not take off and turn into its own tree... but I have heard figs are super hardly in that they can grow roots from broken branches, I've just never tried. 👍💯
❤figtrees!
Using rooting compound can help with cutting as well. I usually just take branches off of just about anything anywhere on trees, dust it with some rooting compound, throw it in a pot and it’s normally good to go. Not all the time it works, but it does most of the time.
I've never done that, but I'll give it a shot. Thank you for the info. 🤘🤘🤘
Is that really safe? I've read on the rooting compound instructions not to use on vegetable plants. I wonder if that would also apply for fruits?
@@tko8218 when I say anything, it’s trees mostly or vining plants not vegetables. I don’t think there is a need to do vegetables, they’re annuals and I would think that’s a waste of time when you can either start another from seed of simply buy one at the store
LOVE figs! Never seen this method used. Going to try it tomorrow. Thank you!
Love my figs! Have you ever tried air layering with pods? You basically pick a branch you know you’ll be pruning anyway-put moist peat moss in the pod, attach it at a good place where there are nodes, and wait two months. You can see the roots if you get clear pods. When you have a good root ball, cut just below and pot your new, practically mature fig tree. I make around 15 trees every year this way..can use it on many other trees as well..
You can actually use just about any part of any branch when propagating fig trees. They don't have to have established roots, but that does help guarantee it'll take. What varieties do you have?
This is the only way I've ever done this as I know it works, and I have a 100% success rate doing it this way.
I have 4 or 5 types, but the tags for them have dry rotted and broke off a long time ago, so I don't know the names. I have all the normal ones you get from the big box stores... I don't have any hard to get ones or varieties. 🤔🤔
It may also help to clip the two lower leaves of the transplanted fig tree.
Figs are so yummy!
Good 👍
Very interesting. I plan on propagating my fignomenal in the future.
You ever think of adding myco or another beneficial fungal species on transplant?
@bigm0e89 I haven't in the past, but it's on my list for 2025. 💯
@DownHomeBackyardGardening I used my bokashi and myco in my starter fig. I'm actually using some training techniques I learned from growing "hemp" so it should be a pretty cool plant when I'm done
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
⚘️👍
What us going on? I am watching Benny live stream, but the 13 comments are about rooting fig trees and I can not comment on the live chat.????

Do you have a YT channel account? That's the only way to comment, that I know of. 👍💯
