One of my fave outfits is bright pink skinny jeans, bright pink tunic top and a bright red cardigan. Worn with low heeled black suede boots and gold jewelry. I always coordinate with matchy type sunglasses. I'm 64 just had a birthday this month!
I'm 66, from Canada and a marathon runner. I love fashion, but don't wear young trends like crop tops and mini skirts. I agree 100% with you Beth that there's good style and bad style. Also good taste and bad taste. Bad taste is alive and well at all ages. That is the real issue, not age. Bravo for clarifying this for all of us!
Love the confidence. I’m sharing this with my daughter. We are all beautiful women and should enjoy how we look and feel. Embracing the wrinkles on my face has been difficult. I choose to embrace color now and love myself enough to be me and dress for myself not others.
Thank you so much for the denim advice. I am 74 and I wear my denim skinnies, cropped, distressed - you name it - all the time! I know which styles flatter me and which ones, don't. If you are a woman "of a certain age" and you want people to respect your choices, then wear what fits, is in good condition, is not tacky and you are comfortable and confident in! 😊
I just love ❤️ what you said about style being ageless. As a woman in my mid 50s I want to embrace the beauty I have now, not try to make it be something it's not (trying to look younger, skinnier, etc). Being myself boldly and tastefully is what I aim for. Thank you 😊
I’m 64 and more and more deciding that styling is personal . Breaking rules isn’t against the law , go for what you love to wear . Some guidelines for our body shape are very helpful . Dress for yourself and your body shape xxx
I love you! Your attitude is contagious. I watched and read three articles before yours. They all stated do not wear denim do not wear bright colors etc… I am 49, I realized that I don’t want to trash my entire collection of personal fashion! It’s an investment. I’m not ready to start walking away from it yet. I’m excited that no matter how old I am or my body shape. I’m free to live, my fashion my way! Best, Dee
Woman after my heart 💓 you Rock!! I'm 60yrs young soon to be 61...I do Zumba class with a 33 yr old male teacher who is a professional dancer.. Thank you Beth for your wonderful video. Yes, you gave me the answers to my questions. I am 57 years old have have a bland wardrobe but; you made my day 👍
I’ve made rather a few videos about this . I think dressing for our body type is key . Goodness what a drab world without colour . I wear colours that suit me , lots of yellows and cobalt blue and receive compliments . There are no fashion cops out there 😊💐💞
Hurray for you Beth! Can we please stop the nonsense of "boxing in" Seniors! Why do we let people tell us how we should look or feel? I will wear jeans forever and I love bright colors. I can't think of Any reason why I should stop, especially not because I had another birthday! Come on! Enjoy colors, Enjoy jeans! Enjoy life whatever that looks like!
So true, style is personal and so much info is out there about how, what items of clothes to wear or not wear. Thank you Beth. PS, you look 45-50 yeara. Thank you for the ideas.
I have a rocking body have no idea why my body is still in the 30 and I look good in stress jeans, but I feel people think I should be wearing my age clothing. But I don't know what that is. Thank you for clearing that up that style has no age
Brava, Beth on these tips. It’s so hard to overcome the “age-appropriate” mantra we hear from others. Once an older, close male relative said to me “I saw this pathetic woman today, she was trying so hard to look younger, she was wearing a ponytail and a mini-skirt but was at least 30!” (Yes, thirty). This was a hint to me, who at the shockingly decrepit age of 39 was still wearing above-knee skirts. I’m now 60 and still do! I realized over the years that these comments were coming from this relative’s significant other, who is strangely obsessed with what I wear. Everytime we go out as a group, she comments on my clothes, jewelry, etc., and weirdly compares it to hers, “Oh, I’m so glad you’re wearing a scarf, so I can wear mine, too!” We should wear what we feel great in, regardless of age or others’ ideas of age-appropriateness. I’m not going to wear polyester trousers and long-sleeved blouses from the old-lady section as long as I live! I’ve always been a skirt/dress gal, except if the weather is really cold or if pants are required for a certain activity, like for my field work as a geologist, and if other women don’t like it, too bad.
Hi Beth. I like your tips and especially your lamb/mutton analogy. I don't have grey hair ( yet, ha ha ) but I think my skin colour has changed. Some colours that used to look good don't look so good anymore eg: mustard yellow, khaki and black. I'm a Spring so I never should have worn black anyways but now it looks atrocious on me. Also, my skin is not as nice as it used to be. Although I can still wear the clothing I have those annoying little bags under my elbows and knees. My skin kind of looks crepey. So I think fabric is a good disguise. And, some younger trends just don't look good. High-waisted pants and crop top??
Woowww..... Thanks Beth 🤗 you’re awesome! Sometimes I need someone to talk about this cause in my country people in the age of almost fifty, they are wearing a dress or a blouse made from lace only . They are never wearing denim again 😢 poorly they are. Anyway, Thanks again Beth . Jesus bless you always.
I will be mother of the groom for a casual fall wedding and I am already worried! I am 69, and wear a 20. I am considering a pantsuit or dress with blazer (for chill). I don’t want to be frumpy.

Boooo- she is absolutely stunning. We women need to lift each other up. Some women rock the short hair but long and grey hair that is healthy is gorgeous.

Love it, "you don't need a beach bod to go to the beach" I love the beach, go more now in my 50s and wear a two piece and I'm elated! Freedom!! #Fiftyandfree
I, personally, like examples of what is being discussed. I am not the only one,I am sure, that is categorized as a "visual person" Otherwise, nice coverage on topic. :)
I'm 50 with gray hair. There are some fashion trends that don't work for women over 50, such as distressed jeans and skinny jeans. Distressed jeans don't look sophisticated, elegant, classy or chic on any female over 25. Rather lazy instead. There is an adage, "Trendy is the last stop before trashy". I agree that our physical health and wellbeing is important. Dressing for our body shape, colours / hues that flatter our skin tone/ complexion will make every woman graceful.
Beth, you go to the gym 5 days a week in a pandemic? My gym just opened up last week (I live in Massachusetts) but I have not gone yet. It has limited classes (you have to make reservations for them) and you can only stay for an hour. There are so many rules, like temperature checks, hand sanitizing coming in and going out, that I just haven't made it over there yet. I walk every day, and do home home weights, yoga and crunches for now. Even though Massachusetts Covid cases are going down and leveling off, I am still frightened.
Anita Clemens you took my words literally. I have a Peloton bike in my home gym as well weights and lots of videos. So, yes, I hit the gym as well as head off to a private Pilates lesson.

The number of women letting their hair go grey since Covid is refreshing. Even our national news anchor has gone natural.
