The InstantVap is really fast at vaporising beehives with Oxalic Acid to kill Varroa Mites. In this video I try to make it even faster.

Hello my friend another month for me before spring arrives. I was one of the first to purchase the instavap here in the states. 6 grams is the norm for treatment with us with the vap so it allows for the leakage while leaving enough in the hive, although we leave the entrance closed for 5 minutes so the vapor continues to be distributed evenly as possible. Unscrewing the OA feeding device all the way back fills it to 5.5 grams exactly. So we have 2 feeding tubes one set at 4 and the other at 2. I do like your invention and will try one myself soon, thanks again as always for your videos
Oh , and we share the same last name lol
And a great last name it is too! :) Yes, the instructions with the InstantVap Compact that I am about to review recommend leaving the entrance plugged for 7 minutes. I find there is very little leakage after the first minute. I hadn't thought about the evenness of the distribution. Like you, I have been bumping up the dose to compensate for leakage, but the more grams you dose per hive, the fewer hives you get out of a battery. Unless you run the 12v version from a decent (Lithium Ion) 12v battery. Then you can go all day. The best option depends how many hives you have. Good luck with your upcoming Spring. Cheers Chris
@@KiwiWildman we are using a 9 amp hour battery at those doses. I get 15 colonies treated on one battery, I could get a few more but at that point it takes longer to pre heat so I switch batteries. I maintain 26 colonies in different yards so this vap is great as long as its maintained and cleaned. I look forward to your review on the compact version and why one works over another.
Bloody good of Russel and Beequip, only problem I have is running different bases means I have to come up with a different way for each base when I’m using my gasvap
I'm lucky, I run solid bases and I make them myself so most of them are pretty much the same
Hello I really like your adapter you made . Ya I do not think we can stop all leaks there is just no way. I use the hole in the back that i drilled an I use the white or red shop rags to cover the entrance but I wet the rags first an I think it helps to cover the entrance. I think your adapter will definitely help the tube from getting bent an damage it . Using the holes in the back you have to be REALLY CAREFUL to not hit a frame with the tube because it will stop the tube up an the back pressure will blow the top cap off an blow acid in your face . Thanks
Thanks Kathy, sounds like we have had very similar experiences. Cheers Chris
@@KiwiWildman hello I have a question. You an I last year were talking about the Hendricks hive . I found a man in Canada an he is messing around trying to build a hive like that an his name on this site is Scott is that the same man that built the Hendricks hive . I do not think so because he is working on his tenth trial box .???. I am still going to do the one you an I were talking about last year but I got into building me a new Bee shop an all my time is put to it so I will have it by time I start pulling supers this year . I was just wondering if that is the same person. Are you still using one of those boxes or trying them out .??. Thanks
@@kathyhathaway8823 Hi, yes that is Scott Hendricks, his channel is Beekeeping in Northern Ontario. No, I didn't play with one this year. The version I tried worked, but didn't do all that well compared to the hives around it. But that might have been a poor queen. Scott is trying lots of different configurations, I only tried one. I have no doubt that he will crack it. Cheers
@@KiwiWildman ya I thought that was him . He said he was getting ready to start on trial design # 10 . The bottom board #7 I think was like the one you have an I liked that one the best . Thanks 🤞🤞🤞
Tell us about your windmill
Will do, there is a story behind it
Hello
How many days do I open the pollen trap and how many days do I close it in a week
Hi, I haven't used pollen traps, sorry. Perhaps one of the other viewers will know the answer and help you out here.
@@KiwiWildman Many thanks
