as canadian who loves the outdoor if you ever planning a visit to cameron highland again i can suggest you a farmstay called A'Moss Farmstay and hike the mossy forest. trust me you will love it so much. been there last year and it was amazing and I'm planning another trip again march next year.
there is rent a campervan option for outdoor people who want to travel outside of tourist zone by road. there is lot of campsite and easy to reach basic necessities. i believe for campervan you required the same license as to drove a car in malaysia. nowdays flash flood came out through the year even on march so if you ever plan to go far from the tar road research the trends beforehand or ask locals.
For your next trip, do check out these places instead. Instead of Penang, check out Perak for better food selection. Kuala Kangsar and Taiping was a great start, but Ipoh have a lot of foodie spots. Instead of going to Genting/Cameron for highlands, check out Bukit Tinggi and Janda Baik off the Bentong town and Frasers Hill for a more charming and laid back vibe. On the way to Kelantan, do take a moment to stop by Cherating beach for a very quiet as well as surfer spot in the area. There is also turtle sanctuary nearby. Kenyir lake can be a hit or miss, but when you know some locals, you can score a very scenic spots and can truly be within the wild. Especially if you like to check out the fishing scene. This is also a nice place to stay on a boathouse. Pahang goes underrated with foreigners but among locals, it is a local destination for a quick get away. An hour or two off Kuala Lumpur have a few hills and mountain hikes you can enjoy, if you are into that. Kuala Kubu Bharu and Ulu langat is within Selangor state, which have the same vibe as Taiping old town. Seeing your love for nature, i think west Malaysia would be your ideal place in Malaysia. Do check out the Rainforest Music Festival which happens annually in Sarawak.
Lovely suggestions & descriptions man.. There's always some good alternatives cater for different taste and style of travelling here in Malaysia. Indeed respective locals will give u good insight/reco for places. Even when i travel to small town or remote district will randomly ask around which most of the time won't disappoint.
Olivia was so cute.baby face and petite..mario was so chill and relax..can be a great companion.great for both of you❤keep safe always you guys…😊and keep on making wonderful videos
Using a motorcycle for long journeys is quite challenging in the hot rain and the safety of heavy vehicles such as trucks and trailers, both of you are great and tough
Actually between redang and perhentian there is one famous island for baby sharks. Lang tengah. People also take padi lessons there. Redang is like perhentian besar, full of family resorts. But redang a a huge island with a small airport like tioman. Yes, due to lack of information, tioman to you was a challenge. But nevertheless, you tasted it.
Good summary. I totally agree as I love nature too. We ride in groups of big bikes ending with a dive in waterfall wherever we go. You will probably like pos yum or kuala mu. Place of the native people.
Thank you for promoting Malaysia especially a road trip Our infrastructure and road culture more civilised than most asean countries...accomodations cheap and readily available
ill be in Malaysia when my thai visa expires in mid august. first time going there. not to sure what to expect.i watched you guys vids and others but.. im going to langkawi for 7 days, penang george town 4 & KL 2..i love big cities,im from a big city but i also love the beach. perhentian islands looked good to but i dont have time.
Thanks so much guys.what you both do for our country is in a good and sincere way. sorry what is lacking in our place is from us and what is good is from the almighty creator Allah. keep up the good work guys & we love you guys
Appreciate for the honest and fair view. Not every tourist like big city with crowded visitors. The best thing about Malaysia is it offers a lot, from Big modern city, seculaded places, islands, jungles, parks, malls, wild animals, culture, food etc. You have variety of choices you can choose...but the best of malaysia is its people.❤
I would recommend travel by public transport or car either rent or grab apps on main road or big highway. A motor for rural area or village. Weather in malaysia is hot humid u have to be prepared whatever u need. Best island for me perhentian island ✅ tioman ✅ redang ✅ rawa ✅ besar ✅ semporna ✅ thank you for coming to malaysia
The most honest review from non Malaysian influencer. That's my opinion after witching so many travel video by non Malaysian. I watched 2 or 3 episodes of this channel and thought it is quite regular but wacthing this episode changed my view. Thanks to both of you. I prefer your commentary than mario😂😂😂
Thank you for your reviews and opinions.. Its really shows that both of you love more about natural and cultures. It may contradict with others who love more about development and modern vibes. So its great for you enjoy road trip from west to east peninsular. Next time you may enjoy east coast road trip from kota bharu, kuala terengganu and down to mersing. It's really great coastal vibes but make sure its around March to August. And also be prepare for more natural surrounding and some places far from town. But you already face it during road trip from west to east. So it may similar but with coastal vibes. But to enjoy more of it, plan for road trip from kuching to kota kinabalu. It really great natural vibes but be prepare for more dangerous wildlife in many places. Don't simply get into water as you did in peninsular. Ask the local first before get into any river or beaches.
Excellent video, full of usefull tips not only for those who are thinking of taking a road trip but also locals that have an intention of going for a holiday as well. Great job hope you have safe journey ahead, cheers👍
I ve just been to pulau kapas first time in february..it is sooo amazing, quite n peace place..the best view when u hike in bukit singa..get prepared for massive sunburn😅..it is sooooo hot there.
I wanna do the same. i have done East Malaysia from Kota kinabalu to Sepilok and the Kinabatangan River and back but not west yet. I ran out of fuel twice on my back and had to knock on some of the little metal shack houses for a bottle of fuel haha luckily locals helped..... & your right. KL Is absolutely incredible, especially if your a foodie like me! Very very cool place.
There’s a third highland, called Fraser’s Hill which is less developed than Genting, less commercialized/ agriculturally commercialized than Cameron. Not much to do there, just chill and relax. There were many colonial cottages with in-stay butlers, but I’m not sure they are still in operation. These guys can make you a whole spread just like how it was done British-style. The main event is the International Bird Race, and also the Le Tour de Langkawi cycling which i think no longer goes to Fraser’s Hill (Need to check the annual calendar events). Locals go up to Cameron Highlands for a night stay during weekends, Fraser’s Hill tend to be a day trip. I would rate Fraser’s Hill #1, followed by Cameron and lastly Genting. Ppl normally go to Tioman for scuba diving, as well as to nearby smaller island like Aur Island. Great if you would consider taking up the open water basic license, and then going to these islands for the advanced license. Reason: basic license you learn techniques which u want to get right and clear understanding of the steps, advanced license are geared towards different type of activites to learn, but most importantly, u would be descending deeper into the ocean, and that u wouldn’t freak out. It’s a very good, especially if u planning to go to Borneo side of Malaysia, as there are many great dive sites there. There’s a combined license as well, but i wouldnt recommend that, coz I believe in getting ur basic right, then explore. Lastly, most dive sites are seasonal due to the monsoon be it at the East Coast or East Malaysia, so do check out the weather and do check with the dive operators, especially on what kind of marine life you want to spot. (I would want to dive at Turtle Tomb one day at Sipadan, but I have yet to find out more when’s the best time and requirements)
Fraser's Hill is my favourite out of the 3 main highlands. Smallest oif the 3 but least commercial. I'm not sure if the annual bird watching event is still held there. And there's Mount Tahann in Taman Negara, Lake Kenyir, Tempurung cave and Titiwangsa range for camping.
They have mentioned it as Belum State National Park (Royal Belum State Park) at 14:02. Belum is the name of the jungle area. Temenggor is name of the lake. And Banding is the name of the island where the road cross the lake.
I agreed so much with your opinion. If you like to see the nature, go for a day hike at some selected places like the Fraser's Hill, Pahang and the Mount Angsi in Negeri Sembilan.
Honestly I have no motorcycle and never know how to handle it 😅 I always driving my cars travel anywhere everywhere ..my opinion, it's quite dangerous to travel long journey with small motorcycle especially on highway or on busy roads..so be carefully & wish drive safe.
If you go to Johor Bahru don't go to the town. Johor has a lot of islands too. U need to go to Desaru, Kota Tinggi. Johor has a lot of beaches also. If you go to town it is quite expensive because their target is Singapore.
You are right. All you said is true. Penang is too crowded but a food haven though. I never like genting highland and cameron. There is no spectacular beach in JB. Spot on

Kelantan and Terengganu deserve the Unesco's Heritage recognition. The local cultures are still widely preserved.,super rustic and traditional. Lenggong and Kuala Kangsar is another hidden gem for locals and tourists.
@@keangwooichoo6138 mak yong and menora are still practiced in kelantan and Besut Terengganu..the fatwa back then was because it has an animistic concept which the government prohibit later they uplift the ban and allow both dances as long as it does not consist of animistic practices.
U lovely couple are extremely brave n adventures... TQ for sharing ur wonderful experience .. congratulations ... anyway i hope the Malaysian tourism authority ll take note of your constructive comments 🎉😅
Huh totally left out Borneo? Also, cannot say this enough: Put on long sleeves and pants when on a motorcycle, forget about sunscreen. Its safer avoiding sun burns and helps as a protecting during accidents!! Very informative video, thank you. Will definitely use some of the tips :)
yeah people who riding long journey in malaysia should put on jacket or long sleeve and pants. other than sunburn, here it is going to be sudden rain downpour. while riding under the rain is a bliss, the pain of rain drops shooting at your skin is not pleasant so dont leave your helmet visor at home and if possible a hand glove. other than that shotgun of sands if there is lorries in front along the smell and tint of diesel that lingers on your shirt. i have a bad eyesight and riding pass the rural road without the streets lamp at night and need to raised up helmet visor because the visor is tinted black that i cant see through it. later then my face had the same look as a truck front, full of dead insects and i had a wonderful cup of freshly insects as dinner, which consume through my nose. drive safe everyone.
Laos and Cambodia are not developed, and there are vast untouched forests. Their culture is completely preserved if that is what you're looking for. Malaysia is a developing country, and the landscape of the country has changed a lot over the years.
Cameron Highland is popular with locals but had lost its former charms of cool climates and pristine mountains due excessive and haphazard developments. Become more and more overcrowded especially on weekends and public holidays.
Not many have achieved such feat. Good evaluation on places to visit and not worth 2nd visit. I'm from Shah Alam and i think the best cities to live permanently and have such good vibes are Kota Bharu, Dungun, Kangar and Kuching. Where to next Mario & Olivia? Edit: You should try another route from Cameron Highlands to Gua Musang to Kuala Terengganu. You have to spare extra gas though for this route. Locals will advise u to not go thru this route after 7pm because of wild elephants and other animals. The road isn't good, potholes everywhere tho. But the best thing about this route is you won't find it anywhere else. The scenic view of Tasik Kenyir from slightly higher altitude. Mario would drop his jaw if he flies his drone there. Magnificent view. I drove well around Malaysia couple of times but nothing beats this view. I didn't stop to fly drone there because i was alone and didnt wanna stop because of wild tigers. I drove there for a few hours only saw one other car along the stretch.
Johor is family oriented, which is great for kids but may not suit anyone over 13. Everywhere else you dislike is mainly non-Malay areas, which tend to get destroyed in the name of money.
As a malaysian, we really appreciate your roadtrip despite the rain and sunburn. Ouch.
As a malaysian i can't agree more with your opinions regarding the favorite and not favorite places.. You've given immaculate opinions.. Terrific.
Right

I'm glad u like Taiping. It's rare for foreign travelers to go there 👍
It also has a highland area called Maxwell Hill or Bukit Larut.
It's the place that surprised us the most, so quiet and beautiful

We did miss out on a couple places in the centre, maybe we will visit next time!
Yay Taiping is on the good list!
Johor is family oriented, which is great for kids but may not suit anyone over 13. Everywhere else you dislike is mainly non-Malay areas, which tend to get destroyed in the name of money.
JB, penang and cameron and genting highland...agree with you 100%
Hidden gem in Langkawi is Tuba island...only 20 minutes by boat from Langkawi
does anyone know how to transfer motorcycle to the perhentian islands?
Please where and how can i get the international driver's licence?
you have to get an international license from your home country
This is definitely the right way to travel
