LOL she has obscure essays and biographies but not the Hobbit. That's funny. You should definitely get the Hobbit!! It's awesome. Deserves another look, I think.
Tolkien is a big reason why I am who I am today. I was raised watching the Rankin & Bass version of The Hobbit and Return of the King. It inspired my love for fantasy, for heroism, for names, and for words; which subsequently inspired me to have an interest in linguistics, eymology and ultimately be a writer (I even declared it in a book I wrote when I was 8). Because duty and honor were instilled in my heart, I went on to join the infantry after 9-11, still writing, and eventually got published in a national magazine in 2015. I listen to the audiobook of LotR constantly, because the prose are in present tense. I memorized choice songs by heart, and it also helps lull me to sleep at night to this very day. So, kudos to you, Tolkien lovers, and all hail the Grandmaster.
Those Harper collins versions on lotr are actually rare as f, you can’t find them online, and I’ve only seen them once in a second hand bookshop in rural New Zealand. My mum has a copy that she bought in the 90s and I love them so much
note to self: don't attempt to continue reading Unfinished Tales: The battles of the fords of Isen, when a fellow Tolkien lover discuss their book collection. ☺ A very solid set of books you have their young lady. 👌Thank you for sharing it with us. 😎🥃
Recommend: A BBC CD or cassette tapes, entitled Farmer Giles of Ham, a broadcast of that story, wonderfully done. As an addition however, there's a segment of The Lord of the Rings (not included in the films), 3 chapters, where Frodo and company meet Old Man Willow, saved by Tom Bombadil and then taken to his house. This short recording is the best thing the BBC ever did, and it's very haunting, especially when Tom and Goldberry recall the deep past of Middle Earth, remembering events in the Silmarillion.
The omnibus addition you’ve got is the first edition I got. My dad gave it to me for my 11th birthday when I was on my way to becoming a massive fan. It’s completely wrecked but I’ve still got it. I love Tolkien and can’t wait to read more of him
Cool collection. I don't have many Tolkien but my claim to fame is a first edition Silmarilion that my uncle gave me and it sent to members of the Tolkien society before it's official release
Hello miss Aradhel! My name is Jack NIGHTINGALE from Poland. I like your collection very much! I've been reading TOLKIEN for 30 years. I have a lot of books JRRT, besides History of Middle Earth which have not been translated into Polish 🇵🇱. I also play board games: War of the Ring & Battle Five Armies👍. I like watching on TH-cam movies about Middle Earth and reading info about creativity JRRT. Thanks and cordial greetings💐. Good luck pretty Elf💃
Awesome collection I know I should not say that but I noticed that I am the only one including beowulf to my Tolkien video collection. Why? Otherwise my other books really fewer than the most. I will try to get them all

I'm surprised that you don't have the hobbit or any of the hardcover anniversary editions of LotR ... feel like those deserve the most respect. Hardcover sown books last much longer
Can you share the ISBN for the illustrated editions by Alan Lee. I had the Fellowship of the Ring edition which I misplaced, and now I cannot find these flexibind/semi paperback editions, but only hardbound illustrated editions which I do not want.
Have you got Tolien's Library by Oronzo Cilli. or his works on Beowulf, or articles he published at Oxford. His book on Monsters and Critics. And I guess you know that Frodo is a corruption of King Froda in Beowulf. If you want to know more about Tolkien's passion for Beowulf then watch the TH-cam videos by Signum University with Professor Tom Shippey giving 3 talks about it. Shippey is an expert on Tolkien.

the hobbit is very childish in comparison, I liked it growing up, but as an adult I can't stomach it
@@ffxiarcadius Really? I mean I understand if it's not your taste, but as I grow older I appreciate whimsical childish things more.
It’s like loving Shakespeare while never having read “Hamlet” ever in your life. She definitely needs to get/read the Hobbit.
