    Good video. Great looking Grom! It blows me away that Kitaco doesn’t sell a complete pump. Their pump for the previous generation Grom also requires you to use parts from the stock pump. That’s why I went with Takegawa. Sure the Kitaco flows a little more, but I’m not going to give my money to a company that makes half of a product.

      @eastcoastish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm running the Takegawa pump in my '19 Monkey and while it is convenient to just swap the whole thing over, it's really only 5 minutes of work to swap over the plate, gear, pin and bolt. Plus Kitaco is the only one with a pump for the '22 at the moment ;)

    • @TheImtoomuch
      @TheImtoomuch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eastcoastish I know the swap is easy, but for me it's the principle. Call it one of my personal hangups.

    Another awesome video! The dhm bbk is coming soon You still planning on trying it and how's your bbk currently going? Cheers .

    Ciao, Kent. Super tutorial, as usual! My question: would it make sense to install also the Kitaco clutch cover with the oil eyelets positioned close to the pump? Wouldn't this make the oil cooler work better, with more pression? I'm not sure if that cover exists for 2022+ Grom or if it fits on it, as it was engineered for the models with oil spinner.

      Did you get yours installed yet? Haven't been able to fire the bike up while I wait to get my head back on, interested to see what it does to engine temps.

      @@eastcoastish It’s being delivered today. I am falling behind on mods though due to busy work schedule. Have the Dinger, CJR 27mm TB/manifold, oil cooler, SMR clutch pack, and 6 bolt lifter plate all sitting in a box. Soon though I hope. Ego Boost said it cools so well that sometimes it has issues reaching auto tune temps. He only has the 3 row too. Did you have that issue on your other bike?
      PS I like you and Ego’s videos. We all buy a lot of the same parts and you guys are fast to do install videos. It helps me get familiar with the install before I do mine. Thanks, dudes. My oil pump was delivered 30 seconds ago as I was posting this. 😂

      @@Image-X haven’t got to run it with the Dinger yet, but as soon as I get the CJR manifold and TB on I’ll get it back in the dyno. Hope to at least be in the 14’s after that.

      @@eastcoastish Sweet. Can’t wait. I finally have some time the next few days off work. Dinger and oil cooler install was not bad at all. It rained here today so I only ran it in neutral to circulate and top off oil. I should be able to get some riding in tomorrow so I’ll watch temps. Edit: Installed oil pump and 60% clutch springs this evening. Finally got a bunch done and knocked the parts box down some. I don’t know about with the pump but the bikes likes to run around 170-180 now….. Occasionally jumping up to around 200. It was only mid 70s yesterday but if this is any indicator, the bike will run 30-40f cooler. That was without the pump. Crazy.

    I just did this upgrade and I compared the stock and Kitaco pump and they look almost identical. What makes the kitaco work better?

    • @stevelucha22
      @stevelucha22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was wondering the same thing. They look almost identical to me too but since I already purchased the Kitaco I guess it’s too late now. Lol

      I believe it’s 3mm thicker to enable larger oil flow.

  • @AdamScoots247
    @AdamScoots247 ปีที่แล้ว

    When installing on a stock engine, would drilling out the oil passage be beneficial like you would do with the crf110? Especially when doing the 15mm rotor 50% upgrade.

    One of those dials fell into the holes at the bottom with the black grommet it seems. Was able to fish the dial out with a magnetic line but can’t get the grommet. Think that’s a problem? 😂

    My question is if I buy this pump with a oil cooler installed with it can I wheelie with it or do I need a oil pump with a tube on it.

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  ปีที่แล้ว

      This pulls oil from the same position as the stock one. If you’re riding long wheelies it’ll cause oil starvation.

  • @at906

    Why 22 Grom has that oil screen filter, when there is that paper filter that they added? Can we get rid of that screen?

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to catch bigger chunks before it gets to the cartridge filter. It doesn’t restrict anything, I’d leave it in.

    You realize using that extension you are getting inaccurate torque specs. Especially considering the small drive.

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stop spreading bad info, the difference using an extension that length is going to be negligible: th-cam.com/video/OjJl7qOtK0Y/w-d-xo.html

      @eastcoastish  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@winkyfab2860 so send me some reference material to explain it. Everything I’ve seen is 5% or less error using an extension, that’s often smaller than the difference in the nM to ft/lbs conversion.

      @@winkyfab2860 You could use 3 ft of extensions and the end torque would be the same. Newtons 3rd law, check it out. The amount of engines you have built has nothing to do with the laws of physics.
