Lovely video. You seem to have a well integrated life and wisdom beyond your years. I too thought that I was like a cake that would be fully baked. At 67 now, I'm very much aware of being an ever-evolving person reaching for goals and new stars. So many times something that I thought was "bad" turned out to be "good." Living in the present seems to be the best way to gather value from life for me. Excited to learn more about your shop.
Thrifting, restyling/flipping love it! Love that you are so creative and dive right in to making things. Realize that it is a side hobby.. know you will come back to it. When to need to create is so strong...it doesn't go away, just lies dormant.
So fun getting to know you and more of your story. It’s very evident that you have so much joy, I love that, it definitely makes your channel very fun and happy
My inspiration comes from my surroundings. I'm from Hawaii and every morning I awake to loveliness! Colors, smells, landscapes of ocean and mountains...lucky I live Hawaii. I am an online reseller as well and most recently have thought about going back to sewing and being more creative that way. I used to work for a major department store and would pick up clothes on sale and restyle or resize them. Sometimes, I would sew two outfits together! Anyway, thank you for your videos and inspiration. When you have joy, you can share joy! Aloha!
Thank you for the insight! You are a great seamstress & designer, etc. etc.!! I was wondering where you learned to sew while watching a thrift flip video right before I came upon this one. So sweet to hear you learned so much from your Mom. I learned to sew watching my Mom too. She had a sewing room on the right end of the basement. She taught herself; If she had a pattern she could make it! I would watch her for hours sewing on her old Singer. My first thing I ever sewed were pink bell bottom patch pocket pants. The patch pockets were blue. I sure wish I kept them!!
I'm 60 and it's a learning experience. I am finally getting that vibe of who I am. I found great inspiration back at my College on who I was and what o needed to be again to be happy. It's still evolving.
I love Berry College. Even applied there for their journalism program. Alas, I choose somewhere else. I am from LaFayette, GA up Hwy 27. I used to live in Summerville, GA where all of my children live today. I love your videos but when you talk about vintage 1980 clothing, it makes me feel old. Lol, but I guess I am old. I think what inspires me in my sewing, crafting, crocheting and painting is fun. I'm 58 and retired and to a point in my live where if it's not fun or if its just too hard to do, I'm not doing it. I don't have to do it so I'm not. I wish at 27 I was as pulled together as you seem to be.
Aww fun! Berry and all those towns have been a sweet part of my life! Thanks for sharing what inspires you! Crafting is always so inspiring to me too! And I’m definitely not out together just confident in the mess that I am haha
Well that was a fun one getting to know you better Ady. Thanks for asking what's inspiring us. At age 57 I've been fortunate to experience massive healing following major diet and lifestyle changes: I'm so inspired by life's potential to heal and rebuild.
I think we have quite a few things in common...I sat at my mama's sewing machine when she sewed even though most of what she sewed was clothing for us and quilts for the cold nights. I began to hand sew at 5 years old and on a treadle machine when I was 7. We used lots of hand me downs from our neighbors to make clothing and quilts. Fabric buying was rare and the only time we did was for my Home Ec class in high school. I do alterations for extra money and I make memory quilts, bears, and pillows from clothing of loved ones passed away. I used to have an alteration shop in a small town just north of Macon, GA. Now I do all these things in my home in that same area. I met my husband this December 50 years ago and we were married June of the next year. I asked him out for our first date. 2023 will be 50 years we've been married.
I love watching your channel. The diversity of your channel is what inspires me. I have actually gotten my love of sewing again and to start working on some other projects that I have wanted to learn but just felt that I couldn't. Well guess what I'm about ready to get things started. Thank you.
You are an absolute breath of fresh air and a joy to watch. Your creativity is inspiring and your ability to make vintage pieces look fresh and new is fantastic. Thank you for sharing your authentic self with all of us!
Hi from New Zealand. I've thrifted from my teens and love the quirky finds but lately have found so much inspiration from your videos and style. I watch one of your videos before I go on a thrift run and it's inspiring ! Thank you.
You are an inspiration! I love your enthusiasm and passion! I also admire how you have created your own business, something I am trying to do..The way your lively and lovely personality comes through the screen and connects to your listener, really like you’re having a chat with a friend, helps me see the importance of how to connect with your listeners. My daughter is also my inspiration. She is setting up her own online business to help overwhelmed moms. She is being a fantastic parent to my grandkids and yet finding time to help and support others……and encourage and support me too! Thank you to both of you!
Great video....you are so precious, sweet and down to earth ! You are an inspiration me...to just be yourself and live your best life ! Thanks for sharing !
Was nice to get to know you more! :) Your channel has really been inspiring to me lately, your are so fun and cheerful and your style is so unique! I also grew up thrifting and recently have gotten back into it more regularly, I find that really inspiring too! I would like to start to make a few thrifting videos as well, to show people what thrifting in Budapest is like 🤩
I really enjoyed hearing your story, especially about you and Peter. I bet he makes a great youth pastor! I too worked at Starbucks; I loved being a barista. "Chef" is one of my favorite movies! Good luck with your new store! Love the yellow hoops!
loved this I'm so glad I've found your channel I love getting to know you and a bit about your business better. you videos and content always brings me joy.
This was so great! I was thinking about doing a Q&A on my small channel and this has reenergized that idea! Currently the spooky season is inspiring me and my antique booth!
As usual, I enjoyed your video. I am so sorry about the IBS. I can relate. My trigger is sugar. Sigh. And after that quick glimpse of your gorgeous wedding dress, my burning question is 'was it thrifted?' And as to what inspires me - you do. Your videos inspire me to have fun with my clothes. Other than that, large bodies of water both inspire and soothe me.
Aww thank you!! I’ve had IBS for so long I’m used to it and really don’t miss my trigger foods at all. Just the life I live! I actually made my wedding dress 😁
Love your advice of going for something even if you're scared (but dont be stupid 🤣) Ya gotta take great risks to get the great rewards and just take a leap of faith and believe in yourself sometimes. It's easy to live in fear of failure instead of taking a chance and surprising yourself of what you can achieve. As a fellow baking show lover and historical fiction reader I hope you're watching British Bake Off and check out books by Philippa Gregory! She's the author of The Other Boleyn Girl that was pretty popular, but her other books are great!
I love the misconception answer. Very dolly Parton answer. I'm obsessed with your clothes, we dont have any good thrift stores in stoke (UK) that I know off. So I try buy second hand online and a bit addicted. You just find unique items so I get put off in fast fashion stores
Thank you haha I was just thinking about misconceptions and thought I literally don’t know because I don’t care haha yeah fast fashion is not where it’s at lol
I love creativity and clothing just like you, why I follow your channel. I am inspired by finding beautiful things at the thrift store and remaking them into fun one of a kind things to wear. So know this does not change at any age as I am way, way older than you but still love wearing color and design, no old lady stuff here but things that make a mature person shine brightly without looking like I am trying to look my daughter's age.
Thank you for the video. What inspires me..one is my kid....he was 6 months premature..25 years ago.. he has overcame a lot. He's one of my greatest blessings. 2..would be my husband.. I am a cancer survivor of 6 years.. my husband was there for me during it all. And finally my friends..and my customers. I have a lifelong best friend and a friend I've known almost 30 years. They inspire everyday because they are strong women..who have been through a lot but has came out of the darkness.. God inspires me through all of his greatness...his generosity towards my life..etc.. and finally..you inspire.. I have always been camera shy..hates to have to do reports in school..I never really thought about thrifting or anything..but have done it for years now.. you inspire to look at different pieces of clothing and try to.reinvent them or think of new ways to.style them.
A fabulous, inspiring and interesting video. You are a very clever lady.🥰 I'm inspired by design, (letting my creative juices and organisation skills combine. )
