‘Can't Run Channel' Error Message Affects Some Roku Users

  • For the past couple of days, I've been hearing from Roku users who've had trouble launching apps like TH-cam and TH-cam TV. It appears this issue is affecting other apps as well.     UPDATE! As of 9/16, Roku says the issue is resolved. But you need to check for a system update as I explained in the video: community.roku.com/t5/Channel-Issues-Questions/Channel-launch-issue-quot-Can-t-run-channel-quot/td-p/720034

    Restarting from the system menu worked for me.

    I just tried this & it worked.
    Press Home 5 times, press up arrow once, hit rewind 2 times, & then hit fast forward 2 times. Wait..let it restart..see if it works now. I didn't think it was going to work but it did! ✌🏾&💙

    Thanks 😊 Michael we updated the Roku channel on our apple 🍎 phone. Before we always got that message something went wrong. Seems to work a lot better now.

    Still no luck. I have the same problem with Prime Video as well as youtube. I wonder if I could transfer the remainder of my Prime Video subscription time to a new non-Roku device. I'll wait a bit longer to try a new brand but it's already been about 5 days since this started for me.

    I was using TH-cam on my TV last night, barely like 9 hours prior and I got this message this morning. It's the first time I get it. I tried the system update but no matter how many times I try to open TH-cam, I keep getting the same message.

    The 09/20/2021 update is what caused the problem for me. Is there a way to roll back the update?

    I get the same message only when trying to cast/mirror using my phone(Android). I already updated the software but no luck. Any help would be really appreciated 🙏 . Thank you

    I had the issue and had to restart my modem. It worked.

      Interesting. Although rebooting my router did not fix it, using a Mobile hotspot did. When I came back to the router it failed again.

    Same here. No channels load. Roku 4 trouble. 3 days now. Wonder if that old Firestick still works. :)

    Well, I give up on this being fixed anytime soon. I guess I'll go out and buy a Fire TV Stick and hope that works better.

      I am here three months later with this same damn issue. Just bought this thing a month ago and certain channels won't work, and then weirdly enough the same thing in those particular apps on my phone happens, they refuse to start.

    Had this issue with spectrum tv app. Just about the only app im having problems with. Locks up and then shuts down Roku.

    My issue is totally different. I was watching the Roku Channel on my TV with the Roku Express 4K+ when the neighborhood experienced a power outage. After power was restored, I could not resume watching the program. I could not watch any other program on the Roku Channel either. All other channels seem to work fine, including TH-cam and TH-cam TV. I have the same issue with my Roku TV in my bedroom. The two tv's are linked in my Roku account, in case that has anything to do with it. In addition to all that, if I try to watch the Roku Channel on my desktop computer, I get Error message 451.

    I already deleted my apps... ARE YOU KIDDING ME ITS BEEN OVER A WEEK. But at least now I know my roku isn’t broken and I don’t have to buy a new one

      Yeah I gave up a few days ago and bought a Fire TV stick and plugged it in another port. It works fine so far. My Roku still can't get youtube and Prime Video. Looks like HBO max is back now on my Roku since I did the channel's update.

    Woke up this morning and TH-cam on roku TVs won’t load. Hulu & Prime video are fine. Reinstalled TH-cam app. The auto update for the roku tv system did an update check but did not install. I had to check it manually and it installed again but it stills shows the last update was feim 6/30/2021. TH-cam finally loaded.

    Hello everyone another method is to reset roku through the settings not by unplugging it ! , I tried update roku method that didn’t work for me , resetting roku fixed it for me

    This is nothing new. I had the same trouble with Spectrum App. Definitely cannot reload Utube tv.

      Roku says it's resolved as of early this morning. I just wanted people to know it's not related to the dispute with Google.

    I've got this same issue with TH-cam except I don't get the error message it just sends me back home. I've done everything but reset my TV guess I'll try that next.

      I have the same problem. I tried resetting the TV to factory settings, and it didn't work. I wonder if there is a way to rollback the last update. Thats probably what caused the problem, but I don't think we can roll it back.

      @@christopherholmes7060 mine was working like 2 hours before I started having the issue I was on it using it perfectly fine then I switched over to Netflix and when i wanted to switch back it wouldn't load. Roku really needs to fix this apparently it's been an issue for months.

      @@tayk4784 Yeah, same here. I watched it earlier, then watched a couple hours on Hulu, went back to TH-cam, and it gives a loading screen for a couple seconds, then just goes back to the home screen.
