- For some reason this song has recently exploded in popularity on tiktok, I don't know why but I take no issue with sea shanties gaining mainstream attention, who knows, maybe I'll break 20 views by putting "tiktok" in the title. As this song is generally a vocal arrangement, this is a "by ear" playing meaning it might not sound exactly like other versions you've heard, so hopefully you enjoy it.
who knows, maybe if this blows up I can buy a decent camera/mic
for some reason, comments have been funky on this upload, they were turned off to begin with and after turning them on, they somehow got turned off again briefly so if they're disabled, hopefully I'll catch it and turn 'em back on

I'm afraid I play by ear so I don't have any sheet music or anything to share, my method of learning a song kind of just consists of listening to it and fiddling around with it until I have it down lol

i am so fascinated by this type of concertina. I play anglo. how do you find the duet?
I personally bought my first concertina from a local music store, that was an Elise Hayden duet from concertina connection, I'm sure you can buy the same model online from concertina connection's website. The concertina I use in my videos is a much older model I found second hand through the concertina.net forum and did some repair work on myself. Sadly it seems the Hayden duet system is one of the less popular systems and so can be harder top find, but I know the peacock model is a lovely version and I hope to get one myself some day

@@Timothydlol none of any significance, I've messed around on both Anglo and English but never really picked either up seriously, and between the two I'd probably end up learning English if I were gonna learn either. Can't quite get the hang of the diatonic system lol

Odd question but what type of accordion is that and does it work like a diatonic?
It's a Hayden duet concertina and unlike diatonic accordions or even Anglo concertinas each button provides the same note on both push and pull. Additionally both sides feature the same scale and notes but shifted an octave apart from each other, the left being an octave lower than the right

This is a bastari Hayden duet concertina, and I was very fortunate to find it second hand on the concertina.net forum. I'm not sure If you can find this particular model brand new but if you're looking for specifically a Hayden duet model, the concertina connection "elise" model usually goes for around $425 and it's a great concertina to learn the Ropes. If you're less interested in duets concertina connection also sells cheap models of English and Anglo concertinas. I recommend asking around on the concertina.net forum, every ones very nice and more than willing to answer any questions you might have
@@datnameis The enquirer should also check out the www.buttonbox.com. They have some very nice duet concertina. As for the Bastari you have, no, they no longer are made and were morphed into the Stagi which is of lesser quality but still to be considered for beginners. Fine playing by the way.
