- Nikola Jokic has proven to be one of the best players we have ever seen over the last 6 years. With stats and accolades that suggest he’s having one of the greatest offensive peaks in NBA history. And this season has been no different. It hasn’t been talked about as much, with Embiid having one of the best scoring seasons ever, Luka having his best season yet, and the rise of guys like SGA and Haliburton. But make no mistake, Jokic is still the best player in the NBA. And I want to talk about just how absurd what he’s doing is.

One of my favorite players to watch, and a quiet off-court personality. Love those types of NBA players.
The beautiful thing about Denver is the core of the team is sticking together and their level of trust and understanding is rising and Jokic wants to play and have fun. My biggest issue with him was his will to compete and win because as long as he has it... well...we're talking about a kind of player that comes around every 50 years: big men who can playmake from the top of the key just break the game of basketball. Denver won a chip with basic basketball: cutting strong to the basket in an era with a pick n roll and then players stop moving (ahem... lebron ahem...) which is basketball's death. Jokic is a complete meteor in today's NBA and i wish him to have fun winning everything ignoring the whole circus of media and yesmen the league is: go play, win, come home, ride horses, drink a beer with friends and have fun... then repeat.

When he came to first training in Denver, which at that time was 12 place in the west (that season 30-52 score), he thought that he might have to go back home right away because he thought he would never be able to make it there :) and now, 8 years later, we are arguing about the level of greatness that he is... funny stuff
Jokic is a 30 point scorer and scoring isn't even his best skill. That man is unguardable

Your take on Jokic's manipulation of the defense is next level analytics. Not everyone see that. You verbalized what he does very well. He is that good, he can & does look off defensive sets, moves pieces around the floor with an eyebrow raise, or a millisecond of eye contact. Add his ball fakes, faux-passes and jab steps and he's a unicorn. No comparisons available. He plays basketball like Miles Davis lead Jazz ensembles. Structural mastery, with improvisational genius sprinkled over the top. I'm rambling, but I'm excited to see someone else who sees the Artistic genius that is Nicola 🃏 Jokic. ⛏🏀🏆🇺🇸🇵🇸🇺🇦✌

I’ll add one more reason that, if you agree, i think would make a great follow up video. I think that we have Steph + Joker to thank for the incredible level of play we’re seeing now. Steph made and 3-pointers critical and Joker adopted it to an extent by adding it to his bag as a center and turned the league from the small ball era toward a giant-led era, where big men who can shoot at all 3 levels essentially are breaking the NBA and all levels below that.
Add to that how Joker brought the European ball handling on top of the 3-point capable big man and we’re seeing every NBA team quickly adopting some of what he’s doing and evolving the game to an unprecedented level. International players’ skills + big man w point guard skills + NBA player athleticism (NOT Joker’s contribution 😅) = truly changing the game.
And, to be clear, I’m not saying Joker is the first to have some of these skills (Bird, Duncan, Nowitzki, Sabonis, etc) but the way Joker _embodies_ them all and the Nuggets took the leap to build around this point center and achieve this level of success is pretty unprecedented, if I’m not mistaken. If I am, please educate me! I’m just a student and fan of the game. ✌🏽😊
People tend to forget that Jokić is a 6.11ft 284lb dude. It takes AMOUNT of effort to control your body and balance at this state, & his body type is not muscular. I think this is enough of a fact that Nikola *is* atlethic.
Exactly. Jokic is a superb athlete, and the fact that he has no muscle definition is a completely different matter. I'm glad that there are people who understand the subject because in America an athlete is one who has muscular definition and can dunk (even if he makes some crazy face, he's 110% an athlete).

I don't care abouts the looks, I will always pick a fat/chubby guy with "natural strenght" and good endurance over some shredded guy who can't run for 5 minutes straight. After all, they aren't bodybuilders, they are athletes which is polar opposite term :)
Fantastic video full of excellent points. The only thing I would have done is laugh harder are the idea that Jokic should be taking more 3s. He is at the top of rebounding stats, but people also want him to be Steph Curry lol

It is possible for the best player to be stuck in a situation where winning a championship is almost impossible with their roster and/or organization. I don't know, I thought Jokic was the best even before he won the championship, but I was more sure of it afterwards of course.

You are one of those who crown a player the best without a chip. That's just unintelligent. I don't care about team circumstances, you don't have a ring means you don't have a ring. Jokic is very efficient, especially in the paint but he's not the best player to watch. Giannis is still the best.

Nikola Jokic is game changer in center position in NBA, new centers are copycats of him and that's great, no defence on his play...
On top of that he is durable, that is one the most important things for athletes! The biggest problem the nuggets have is free throws, and that's a big problem!
Don't get me wrong, everything you mentioned is 100% true, but what actually makes him the greatest in the league right now is that he makes everyone else on his team great too. He has no interest in personal accolades and yet racks them up anyway, that'swhat makes him truly great
