I haven't come across many tuts around gradients on ppt. Nice ! Never knew about path gradient!
Why min 2 gradients? Well gradient means 2, isnt it..else you wouldnt select gradient at all, if you need only 1 color!

Why two stop is necessary because gredint means mixture of two colours else its solid colour

You mean PNG icons..? Right click and choose format Graphic..On top you will find FORMAT tab, under this you get "Convert to shape" option...Use it to convert your PNG icon into shape and then format the way you want it..👍
