  • Motorcycle camping with my 2019 Triumph Speedmaster is fun and exciting but challenging at the same time. It's a big process thinking about how you're going to fit everything on a bike but you'll get used to it from time to time. Watch me as I made a fire for the first time too! It made me remember the movie Cast Away.
In this video, I'll share my top tips on setting up a motorcycle camping and how to pack up as well as you leave the site. Let's dive in!

Almost makes me want to try, but I am old and would probably not get any sleep. That would make me grumpy(er), not good!
I suppose you could always take some petrol from your girlfriend to make the fire starting easier? Regards, Matthew

Fair enough, I know what you mean I hardly got any sleep the first few nights of my trips!! haha I suppose I could, but not sure how that is viewed by the fellow campers haha

Hey there from down under. We live for camping. National pastime. Just a few hints for your flint. Use one cotton ball smeared with a little vasoline as a firestarter. These can be pre-made and put into a small clip seal bag. Alternatively and I kid you not, a tampon is fantastic to use and not messy like cotton balls and vasoline. Just open one, fluff it right out and they are ready to go and they burn a real treat. Use the scraper to slowly scrape some flint off the stick into the firestarter i.e. cotton material. Do this slowly so it doesn't spark. Keep doing this until you have a tiny amount of flint shavings in the firestarter. Now give it a fast spark with the flint and the scrapings will instantly catch and bingo you have created fire.

👍👍🙌Houdy!! That is awesome thanks so much, some great tips. I will defiantly try the tampon trick. Will have to stock up on a couple though!! Yes it took a while with just the newspaper, got it going eventually haha.
Thanks for the tips, appreciate it 👍

Hi mate, great video. When you lit your fire, I was smiling so much. I could see how triumphant and happy you felt 👍
I do the same here in Australia. Camping for me is food for my mind, body, and soul. I feel a great positive wave come over me camping. A motorcyce ride, camp spot, and relax in the harmonious positive vibration of nature. So simple yet nourishing.

Great stuff. I used to do it when going to Europe with a classic bike club. Might well give it a go on my own sometime!
Love the fire challenge! You don't eat if you don't manage it? Excellent motivation! And a great feeling when you've done it! Something primal to providing fire and food!
Erm... Weren't you supposed to heat the bag in the water, though? Not empty it into the water? Hehe
    Fun stuff!

Great videos, enjoyed watching your trip from Bilbao through the Pyrenees and on to lake Geneva. Good info on camping gear, i'm planning to do a trip to Croatia next year on my bobber ( I bought the green one you sat on in Fowlers of Bristol) so need to go fairly minimal! If you know of anyone who's fitted the canvas style Hepco and Becker panniers please let me know how they got on. Keep up the good work 💪

Awesome sounds like a brilliant trip 👍, good for you doing it on the Bobber as well. Just have to get out there and go for it, all the more fun. Sorry I haven't heard of those panniers. I will keep an eye out for any info for you. Thanks again

Ha ha . Absolutely brilliant Angus bloody classic. Watching you try to start that fire. I was in tears mate. BUT you succeeded in the end that's the beauty of doing something you haven't done before and being successful in the end. I haven't been camping for years. But i have brought everything that is needed to go. The tent i have hasn't even been out of the bag. So that's going to be fun the first time it's out ha ha . Brilliant as always buddy. Keep on doing you're stuff it's great...oh by the way Angus ditch the lock for you're tent because if you think about it if anyone wants to get in all they have to do is take the pegs out on one side and your in bud. 😳😳😳🤣🤣🤣. And Angus you're supposed to put the packet of food in the water not the contents buddy!!..
