Wish I'd taken my licence when I were younger Sandy. Too late now, but still on 27mhz and as well as always on 27.63125, I do like having a chat with the guys on the 305 USB net once in a while. Morse is an art form in itself and always fascinating to watch. You have some good QSO's and looking forward to seeing some more of these videos
Greetings Sandy, found that video relaxing, interesting and informative. Brought back some lovely old memories. Wishing you and your family a happy, peaceful and blessed week.
“Or a beer perhaps....”lol🍺👍 I binged watched your knife tutorials but and the bushcraft vids as well as the para glider craziness, this was extremely interesting to me on a rainy Sunday morning hear in Connecticut. Thank you.
Yes - great story about the pen! I notice that you have some similar ideas to me, I also use TKS rather than TNX, I have a sheet of A4 printer paper for notes (cheap as chips).........but I could never ever get the hang of a bug key! Thanks for the vid again Sandy
I get up and go to TH-cam and your video is the first one I click on. I watch to the end and then my video pops up :) Thanks for all the had work and production you put into your channel. I enjoy each video you do. 73 / ~John
LOL Thanks John. I always watch your hamshack vids too. I thought you would find the bug key interesting as I know you have one but I've not heard you use it yet in anger.. Hope you will get to grips with the bug as it really is a nice key when you master it.
I like to see that Palstar AT1500CV tuner on your shelf. I have the same unit here on my 160 meter station. It tunes whatever wire I have managed to string through the trees without a problem. I think that Palstar has replaced it with a similar unit, the AT2K these days.
It became a gift but like all things in life you have to work at it. Even though I found it relatively easy to learn I still had to put in the effort. It sure feels like a gift now. I love code:)
Yes. I do enjoy swimming. I mostly use the breast stroke. I'm not so good with front crawl. Always seem to take a little water in for some reason. I will try and perfect that technique.
Great explanation of the bug key, have never really got my head around those. I used to have the TS570 with the optional CW filter and loved it, regret selling it. Hope the 590 proves just as nice, hope you do another ham shack when you have the new radio setup. 73s
When the clock chimed the first bell I thought someone was ringing a bell for HER coffee. After three I thought "She wants it now!!". It has been a while since i have heard a clock chime but realized it was a clock after three chimes. I started watching your videos because of the K2 at the farm after I first got my license. I enjoy ALL of your videos. Don't stop enjoying everything you do. Take care and 73!!
I’m always amazed how your able to walk about, look at the clock & still hear what’s being sent. Your definitely a professional at Jack lores & would say morse too. Thank you for the V. Dah dah dah daaaahhh haha.
Hope the paramotoring went well today, great day for it. I managed to get out on the ebike to shred some local bridleways, and a quick pint along the way.
nice one Sandy. I do regret selling my 590sg in a fund raising exercise for a radio change. Great radios, and with the rx split (3db split), you can always run a pan adaptor via an sdrplay (or similar) to get a waterfall if you so desired. Love the keys :) I must pull my finger out and get on with a cw trainer. atb Richie.
Over my head mate but i watched the lot, very interesting and picked up a few things. The clock was mint mate, 250 years old, thats amazing. be well mate. ATB Moose
Good to see a better power supply. Switch-mode is so noisy. And the KW 590 is better for CW. Has more copper in it. The 7300 is brilliant on its output audio but it's basically a box of air with a tuned circuit and a computer. It should cost 200 quid. You made the right choices.
It's been a long time since I've forgotten all my morse skills, but I still like watching your videos for the quips and humour 🙂 The fabricated key is quite a nice work and your WiFi password pinned to the PC is terrible 😀 Have a nice Sunday. .. / .... .- -.. / - --- / --. --- --- --. .-.. . / - .... .. ...
Hi Sandy nice video as usual. Like you I only use cw but don't operate much these days. Yes all the different methods of sending cw are really interesting but I guess most folk will have their preferred method. I personally use a Bencher paddle ( which I think you also use ) along with an iambic keyer with dot dash memory. The strange thing for me is that my dot/dash key's are the opposite way round to most folk ( dash on the left paddle ) but this comes absolutely natural to me as this comes from playing the guitar hi. Did try to email you thru the QRZ website a little while ago but maybe you didn't receive it lol. Anyway as I say enjoyed the video and keep up the paramotoring. Regards Richard G4YZK VA ..
Hi Richard, I don't check my qrz email as often as I should. Very busy with the business emails. I will check the yahoo email soon. I can send other way round, it's just a matter of training. There was even a wicked guitarist who played the guitar upside down.
Made me go up to the attic to find my old keys.... Found the bug but I think I gave away my straight key from 1965.... Somehow I don't have the courage to try the old key....after watching this video...maybe I will.
Thanks for the upload mate the 590SG is a cracking choice although the tentec Eagle would be better but a lot more money, the 590 in my opinion has a quieter RX and not as tunnely on CW as the 7300 BUT thats just my opinion both are great rigs. Hope you have a fab day mate and thank you again.
Conditions on 2m FM been good the last few days, qso with MM stations to ON3 station including Wales and Isle of Wight all bit of a pile up really on 145.425 73
I would like to be able to do that i like wacthing ur videos even they one becuse i find it intresting I've only got a cb radio lol from David in Scotland
Today I learnt how the vibroplex works, interesting. How's that new power supply? Specifically, how loud is the fan and at what current draw when you're transmitting? I can't hear it on the video but I really need something quieter. The 7300 will be great, I'm tempted to get one but the portability of the 7100 is alluring, I take a radio when we go on UK holidays so a shack-in-a-box would be useful.
Learning morse and reading music are the two tasks that elude me. I am dyslexic and manage to get so far then hit a brick wall. I just can't get it to be natural. It just doesn't flow. Perhaps one day.
Great to see you back in the shack mate! I recently sold my K2 iv regretted it ever since! You have a Shurrmann Keyer there sandy I’ve been trying to buy one for awhile! But the website is in German!! Did you buy yours in this country sandy, cheers 73 cul John M0CDL.
Hi John, Yes I brought it many years ago from a radio shop in GW land I think. Even then over 20 years ago I paid a good sum Approx £300 I think. It's a great key. It will remain on my desk til I go SK and hopefully also the K2. I also have the K1. I built both from kits.
Nice job on setting up that bug Sandy. I hear so many on the air that are poorly adjusted with dits far too fast for their dahs which they often exaggerate, making it very hard to copy, for me anyway.
I'm with on liking a radio you can drive from the front panel without delving into menus all the time. Having to make your own coffee......things are rough indeed mate.

Hello Sand, does the hobby have plenty of following so that it will still be around in years to come or is it a dying hobby, I think it's a good thing personally, the bare basic way to communicate with the world.
I know it might seem silly, but you can never be too safe nowadays. I'd move that sticker with your WiFi network name and password in case some silly sod local to you gets any ideas.
Very interesting hobby, new to me but I enjoy watching. Thanks. Tony
Great watch thanks for sharing
So interesting Sandy. Great insight
Another great video Sandy! I can't wait to see your review of the Kenwood TS590SG!!

Thanks Sandy. Looking forward to a video on your new rig when it arrives.
Enjoy the new rig. I narrowed it down to the 590 or the 7300 but went with the icom for the 4m tx capability’s. Love the bug key.

Interesting. Don’t do it myself but my uncle is in to it and showed me a couple of things last year. Good video and a perfect Sunday hobby I think.
Sandy, these recent videos have encouraged me to start learning Morse again. In the past I have tried but given up after a while 73 de Jonathan GI7KMC

@@WiltshireMan I agree Sandy - a bit like my swimming. It took years and many drills to get to my standard. So I get what you're saying. Yeah a gift!
I swam today Mark. 30 lengths of a 25 meter pool. I'm not a fast swimmer though but can swim for hours if need be.
