    There are lots of Bead Seaters out there on the market in all shapes and sizes. I’ve been noticing more and more people are buying the “Bead Bazooka” style. A little more ergonomic and easy to control since they have an actual trigger.

    I am a big believer in having my own tools to do as many jobs as possible at home .. the aholes at my local store bumrushed me $100 to mount and balance 4 tires and when I got the wheels back ,they still the old valve stems ... they said that would be $20 extra for new stems ..So $120 was the real price , I was so mad , I told them to stuff it . I got my own tire machine and wheel balancer ... I have 10 vehicles ... the machines paid for themselves already.

    I am now 73 and still change most all my tires, made one of those tire blasters from a Stainless Steel water softener tank I found off the freeway. have a freebee not perfect tire changer air and electric. Still doing most everything and rarely pay for things done around the home. I have had good luck with the cheapy bubble balancer as well.

      I’ve seen someone make one from a propane tank. Pretty impressive you made one from a stainless steel tank you found for free haha. Nice tool. I’m always a little weary of welding on pressure vessels but hey that’s pretty cool. Self reliance for sure!

      @@DereksWorkshopAndProjects no welding they gave fittings on the end and I checked with a friend of mine who owned a soft water Co. On the pressure they could safely handle.

    Certified Pressure Vessel are best if you trust Chinese manufacturers . Tire bead tank seaters has usage expiration dates on them ! Without tank bottom runners concrete will grind the tank into DANGER !

      They sure do. Most “Name Brand” quality professional tanks are certified for 5 years.

    So is it always a One shot deal per tire, then refill the bead setter tank. So to do four tires at a time, you have to fill that bead setter tank four times, correct ? And guess it works on car and pickup truck tires ?

    • @davemccage7918
      @davemccage7918 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s always a single shot, unless you have super human reflexes, strength and incredibly fast hand. Even then I think the 2nd shot after you closed the valve mid-discharge will probably be to weak to work proper.

    • @turbodog99
      @turbodog99 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. One shot per tire. It's QUICK, which = $$$ in a business. An typical large shop compressor will fill it in

    For the number of times this situation has ever come up in my life a ratchet strap works fine.

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I have had two instances already where a ratchet strap alone didn’t work and I had to have a ratchet strap in addition to the bead setting tool. In fact, some footage I left off the video was a lawn tractor tire that I had to use TWO ratchet straps on both sides of the tire in addition to the bead setting tool and it still took me about 5 tries to get it on. I also got a trailer that needed a lot of work and needed to use it on those old worn out tires. It’s been worth the small chunk of change I paid for it. It was about $90 when I bought it.

      @@DereksWorkshopAndProjects Completely understand. I'm just commenting due to the storage space aspect of that device versus the number of potential usage cases. If I did a lot of tires, which I don't, this would be a welcome addition to my tool collection.

      I’m at the other end of the spectrum age wise lol I’ve been a mechanic for 42 years. Recently retired.
      And get upset by the prices charged to mount dismount and balance tires.
      So I bought a used tire machine, a hunter TC 3500. As well as a used balancer.
      And of course the first set of new tires I purchased online have been giving me trouble seating on the beads.
      I was apprehensive about buying one of these bead blasters?
      Watched your video. Bought one last night from Harbor freight. It was $129, but it had a flapper valve, instead of the normal ball valve.
      Assembled it this morning. And I am extremely happy with his performance.
      Thanks for telling about your experience. And helping to push me in the right direction!
      FYI, I have never felt comfortable watching others use lighter fluid and fire. It too dangerous!

      @@aszilagyi100 I seen the starter fluid vids and thought cool and fun to watch. No way is that used in a shop though...then I got some tires done...yes yes they did use the starter fluid in a shop LOL

      What did I say that you’re referring to? Ya it’s $30 a tire now for a mount, dismount, and balance these days.

      I was quoted 80 dollars from my local tire shop here in socal, no balancing or valve stems!
