EXCLUSIVE: I Ride India's Only Interceptor 650 With S&S Camshaft

  • Punjab really has some hidden wonders - meet my friend Gurkiran Singh Mann, who is as passionate about motorcycles and jeeps as anyone can be. Having ridden and owned multiple big bikes over the years, Gurkiran has fallen in love with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, and rides it as often as he can.
Always wanting to extract more from his bike, Gurkiran kept contemplating about the S&S camshaft for his motorcycle and finally bit the bullet. He installed the camshaft himself, a Powertronic tuner and a few other bits and bobs that have transformed his motorcycle into a rocketship.
In this video, Gurkiran details his bike, all the mods and challenges faced, and then I take a quick spin on the motorcycle to give you an idea of how it rides.
This video was shot in Patiala, Punjab on February 20, 2021.
If you would like to see what I do to my motorcycles, you can take a look at my Instagram page too: / abhinavbhatt19
Thank you for giving me your time. I hope you have a great day.
    Cheers

Then he would have got the S&S high compression pistons put in with the cam shaft with a 7cc raised dome they put out 11:1.
You do them together to save time and money and get way better power. Bed them in together as well.
Those pistons go to the stock bore.

    • @ojasweesingh9760
      @ojasweesingh9760 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@eazyrider6122 Don't you think that a 11:1 compression ratio on a low rpm high torque engine will kill the head gasket with a redline shift? What is the benifit of that dome piston combined with high lift cam when if budget is in your mind, just go onn and port the intake and exaust as the ecu will adapt with the maf and O2 sensor. I would highly recommend you to have a better idea about engines rather than just watching some random vid about kit which will ruin the engine. 9.5:1 to 11:1 without doing anything else seriously dude.

In my 13 years of biking i found many bikers spends like anything on their bikes
But only very few of them spend their money in a right and sensible way
This interceptor owner is one among that and the way he explains just shows that bonding between him and that bike
And big kudos for abinav to let us know about that sensible biker..
And one more is i like your introduction
"Hi Guys I am abinav" thats become you trademark identity now,

Bigger cam means more A/F coming in. Technically, this increases the compresion ratio. But now if you have a higher lift/ duration cam, that only bumps up the compression from say 10.5:1 to 10.7:1, then definitely not going to feel anything. Tuning does not change anything if your injectors are stock and the flow rate is the same. The only thing you can do is install PT, and quickshifter, enjoy the advance timing on full open throttle. That still wont make the bike faster than what it is limited to...

I was never into Classic/ Cruiser bikes but one day I saw Triumph Thunderbird on the road and I fell for it. But the thing is it is way out of my budget and very heavy. Then encountered some videos of INT 650, this got me thinking this might be it. It's kind of raw bike with nice engine and sound and one can easily build it to suit personal liking. I'd go for a compact crash guard and weld a foldable foot peg on it and cover it with nice cover so it can also function as a secondary foot peg for highways w/o inc. width of the bike. Then a Twin pod headlights, and the indicators and rear lights as shown in this video. But I'm still confused b/w Kawa's N300 and INT 650. I'm a novice at riding bikes not a regular rider but looking to keep something for casual rides and maybe even some long trips.

Good to see you indian rockers who are as crazy for bespoke hand built bikes as us brits. When i was young it was 2 strokes, bonnies, norton commandos or 750 4s or z900 kawasaki or h2s or kettles. You had yam xs2 xs650 but they handled bad but didnt go bang like 750 twin carb bonnies or t150 tridents. Bsa went bust but at least their frames were great and lockheed rotors were great and their frames didnt handle like shopping trollies throwing tankslappers like an xs2 yam i had with a 740 conversion that was like a suzuki tl1000R at box hill on the mad mile. Great days when the 2 strokes would burn out down there and often blow up. Old bill had r80 bmws but soon got more powerful bikes. The gs1000 was the one to have for many or laverda jota as the ducati 900ss would blow up at 18000 from new due to awful big ends but they were beautiful but not as prised as the 750ss which was far more collectable and is worth 50k plus if you can find one. Its sad BSA was so far in debt as their racing rocket 3 went well but was very fragile but outhandled the triumph tridents like slippery sam but the 750 four hondas took over. Indestructable and very reliable and modern even though their handling, frames were like Tesco shopping trollies without brakes in corners. No wonder Barry Sheene broke so many bones. He was either totally mad or had balls like an elephant RIP

Can we use a booster plug instead of a piggyback ecu??
And which headers are you going to get??
I was planning to get the camshaft and the performance clutch from S&S. But I didn't know anyone who did this to their bike. I already have the Lextek slipons with me.
Thanks to Abhinav sir, I couldn't get any better exhaust apart from Lextek.

Check out TEC bikes in Newcastle in the UK. They do so much for enfields including exhausts, shocks, booster plugs, camshafts, and many other bespoke high quality parts. He has a very good reputation amongst bikers in the UK and in USA, Europe and worldwide. They have been doing different camshafts for triumph twins and many other quality parts and they design, test as nd make stuff often to a higher spec than the manufacturer like forged camshafts, pistons. Not cheaper parts where corners are cut on case hardening, welding, steel for example. They even do a brutal camshaft for the 1200 scrambler or thruxton 1200 thats too powerful as its well over 100 bhp.
