      @@loucostabile I was in Hawaii for the first 6 months of 1971, and saw "Vanishing Point" movie there! I fell in love with the Challenger after watching that! The only nicer car of that era, IMO, is the 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Cobra convertible. My brother owned many classic cars from the 60s. My best car I ever had was a 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible. Red with a white top.

    This is like good as it gets.
    Wee bit of a Mopar fan,,,,some article back when i had my '69 Charger in the late '70s said Dual Quad 426's were great but needing dialing in to keep them right. I think it was the valve train.
    440 Six Pack, little to no minor tweeks needed but with a 4 speed, called 'violent'.
    Sounds and looks good to me.

    Great looking rare car! My dad had a 71 Cuda 340 in purple on blk. He brought it to Mr. Norms to be 'tuned' since it never ran right since he purchased it new. They made mods to the dual point distributor and TQ and it ran insanely good! They even gave him a handwritten sheet of everything they did, for future tuning specs, since the factory specs were pretty much thrown out the window. Sadly when he sold the car in '76, all that stuff went with it.

    That "Top Banana" is the "Top Gun" especially with that pistol grip shifter!!! Great car, Mr. Norm really knew how to build em that's for sure. I have a brother-in-law that used to have a 1970 Challenger and I got the chance to drive it for a weekend when he an my sister borrowed my lowly Dodge Shadow for a road trip. His Challenger only had a 318 in it, but it had a Borg Warner close ratio 4 speed and would really get up and go, don't ask how I know this, Lol!!! I was really surprised at how well the Challenger handled also. I always thought the 1970 Challenger was the best looking too. Great car Lou!!!

    Never challenge a Challenger!! Top Banana is my favorite shade of yellow. If my '72 Demon 340 wasn't in my all time favorite FE5 Bright Red I'd be tempted to paint it Top Banana for sure. Anyways nice story about finding the original engine and even better to see the Mr. Norm signatures. The white interior almost makes it a sunday summer cruiser kind of car, but we all now know what's under the hood ⚙️🇺🇲. Simply bananalicious!!

    It was September, 1969. I was riding my bike over to my friends house and had to pass the house of a man who was an insurance agent. There in the driveway was the very first Dodge Challenger that I had seen. I had to stop and look. It was a plum crazy R/T hardtop with a white vinyl top & interior. It had the pistol grip shifter on it’s 4 speed transmission. I still remember it vividly more than 50 years later.

    Knowledge is power. Imagine paying the price of a 440 challenger from an unknowing owner who really had a 440 six pack mr norm 6 figure plus car. That guy could of been smart like the current owner and figured this out himself and tracked down the original motor just like this guy did and doubled his money or maybe even tripled. I bet this guy had the biggest $&!? Eating grin on his face when he realized what he brought home. Lol I love these stories.

    Beautiful car. One thing about them carbs is they are temperamental. Constant adjustments to keep them running good, that's been my experience with them anyway. Love the 70 and 71 challenger and cuda's

    Hey lou, another great find. Question. One of my friends had a 1970 challenge rt 440 years ago. I could swear his pit stop gas cap was on the driver side rear deck. Do you know did they come on both sides? Im almost positive, but it WAS almost 50 years ago

    I'm thinking these cars won't "kick down" to a lower idle as you're expecting if they haven't yet reached the temperature allowing them to do so (thermal choke on carburetor, perhaps?).

    Tell me what Mr. Norm did with this particular challenger with the 440+6 that any other challenger with the 440+6 had Other than mr. norm sticker on the trunk lid

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, Stickers are nice :-) Lou

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, Ok I'm having fun with the stickers are nice, and the short answer is I'm not sure. However even if there is nothing more then that Mr. Norm sticker, the fact is it's a 440 6 Pack 4 Speed is enough. The Technicians at Mr. Norms were well known for adding performance part either ordered, or bought over the counter at the Dealer so it's always nice to see a car from His Dealership because you knew they would be performance cars. Hope that helps, Lou

    • @kos2318
      @kos2318 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know Mr. Norm modified a lot of his cars but you had to pay extra for those now this particular challenger was it modified by Mr. Norm or was it just a regular 440+6 challenger with a sticker on the lid .yenko Chevrolet as you know modified a lot of his cars to but the ones that he didn’t still got a Yenko emblem on the trunk lid

    • @garybishop4030
      @garybishop4030 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr Norm would often rejet the carb and recurve the distributor for more performance in the cars that he sold. This is a very rare car with the 440 six pack and 4 speed.
