The X-Pro2 is underrated! I just picked it up and love it. Do I miss I flippy screen? Leave a comment and let me know if you prefer the X-Pro2 to other more recent Fuji offerings!
The X-Pro-3 is a dog. If they ever (and it's doubtful) come out with a Pro-4 I will check it out, but it's not an automatic "upgrade". They made magic with the Pro-2.
I sold my XT5 and XH2s for an XT3. My other camera is an XE4. The buffer on the XT5 was slow, and I feel confident with the 26mpx cameras for client work. Also I don’t do as much video as I thought I would, so the 6k open gate was overkill. In 2025, I’m using the XT3 for my work camera and the XE4 for my walk around everyday dad cam.
@@WesKriesel having had the both the XE4 and XPro2, which will you recommend between the two as an EDC and backup camera to my XT5? Having the SLR style XT5 makes me wanna try a rangefinder style camera. And I boiled it down to XE4 & XPro2.
Kept my X-Pro2 after moving over to L mount. My favorite lenses to use on it are the Fuji 23mm 2.0 and the Voigtlander Snapshot Skopar 25mm 4.0. Sometimes the 23mm will miss focus and the Skopar is something I can set and forget. I use the 23mm if I know I will have someone else use the camera. My favorite color simulation is Classic Chrome and I also like a Portra 400 recipe. JPEGs are good enough for my purposes but still shoot Raw/JPEG. I tend to overexpose as a preference and having the raw file is great in case I overdo it!
Rather than buying a grip for your xpro 2, I would recommend the Fuji half case. Your camera will feel so much better in your hand. Placing camera down on hard table surfaces also feels better.
Got my (first) X-Pro-2 in 2017. Loved it, except for the fiddly Shutter Speed/ISO dial. Just never warmed to it. So I sold the whole setup and got a Canon R6... and I hated it. So I went to KEH thinking I'd just sell it, and what do I see? A mint (LN-) X-Pro-2 limited edition in grey with matching 23 f/2. Adding a 14 f/2.8 and 35 f/2 on trade for the Canon gear, plus $200 back. Figured out a workaround for my dial issues (auto ISO) and this camera just rocks. I see a Leica (Q3) in the future, but I am never selling the Fuji.
I REMEMBER THAT LAST EPISODE...YOU TRIED HARD TO CONCEAL IT....BUT I KNEW YOU WERE HOLDING THE XPRO2!!! YOU NOW HAVE IN YOUR POSSESSION A GREAT CAMERA! I KNOW YOUR GOING TO LOVE IT AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU CAPTURE WITH IT IN THE FEEDS!!! CONGRATS!💯💯💯
I OWN ALL 3 XPROS! OUT OF ALL ... THE XPRO2 IS THE BEST ALL AROUND!!! I WOULD TELL SOMEONE TO EVEN GET THE XPRO1...SO DON'T SLEEP ON THAT ONE...CUZ IT TAKES FANTASTIC FRAMES! XPRO3 IS ALSO REALLY GOOD ....BUT I HATE HOW MUCH PRESSURE I HAVE TO PRESS THE SHUTTER, COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS MODELS!
I’ve had my X-Pro 2 for 5 years. Still enjoy picking it up, playing with the buttons and dials and taking pictures. It’s not just about the images, it’s about the whole photography experience with this camera. And the 23mm f2 is my favourite lens too.
After migrating to the Fuji system about 6 years ago, I had an X-Pro2 for awhile and sold it. It didn't take too long to realize I'd made a mistake. I bought another that has become my daily carry. My only real complaint is that there is no OEM replacement for the rubber eyepiece once it fails. The aftermarket ones I've found use a pretty poor adhesive to attach and don't stay on long. The original had a bayonet fitting that locked it in place.
I had the graphite edition. LOVED the looks but the autofocus was the big let down for me. Could not trust I would come home with in focus photos. So I sold it.
I get it - I'm ok with the autofocus on the X-Pro2 just because I've resolved that this is my hobby, everyday, enjoy photography and take it slow camera. That's the idea - we'll see how it holds up over time!
I've never actually touched any of the X-Pro cameras. With all the old DSLR shooting I've done over the past month I think one of these might be something I really enjoy now that I've used an ovf again for a bit.
I love my X-Pro2. I bought it when the X-Pro3 was announced and after seeing the direction they were going with that new rear LCD, I snapped up one of the last new-in-the-box X-Pro2 bodies that I could locate. At the time I had the X-T2 and X-E3, both sharing the sensor and processor with the X-Pro2, so I could use multiple bodies based on size and capability without adjusting my expectations on the end item...the images. My X-Pro2 is my prime lens body. I have all the ""Fujicrons", and their small tapered shape works better when using the optical finder. I bought the somewhat expensive Lens Mate thumbgrip made for this body and it improves the handling dramatically, allowing one hand operation. I'll not sell my X-Pro2.
Thanks for sharing your X-Pro2 journey! Love how you've paired it with the Fujicrons - they really are perfect for that optical viewfinder experience. That Lens Mate thumbgrip was such a smart addition too. You've built your ideal rangefinder setup! 📸
I sold my X-E3 to get my first X-Pro-2. Must admit, I still miss that X-E3. Like the Pro-2, it was so solid and fun to shoot. Other cameras might have better specs, but Fuji has a tactile shooting experience that can only be matched by a Leica.
Agreed. I’m still using mine for work. I’ve got two and I’m thinking of getting another. I think all their f2 lenses are great. I’m just hoping they’ll release the X-Pro 4 addressing the issues you mentioned plus with an even larger, improved EVF/ovf. But they would need to retain the build quality of the X-Pro 2. I think their newer cameras cut corners on this aspect. I don’t have large hands so it handles well for me. Thanks for the video man. I share your love for this thing of beauty.
Thanks for sharing your X-Pro2 passion! Those f2 lenses really are perfect on it. Totally with you on hoping the X-Pro4 keeps that solid build quality while improving the viewfinder. Really appreciate you getting the magic of this camera! 📸
I had the 1 and skipped the 2, going for the 3. The big miss on the 3 is the failure to retain the dual magnification OVF of the 1 & 2. I'm glad I went for the 3 though as I now own some Voigtländer X-Mount lenses and they only electronically couple to the 3, not the earlier versions. If the anticipated version 4 does not return to the dual magnification OVF, I probably won't buy one.
I'm with you Wes. My first serious mirrorless camera was a Canon APS-C with a Smallrig cage which, as a one-handed southpaw, is a must if I want to shoot handheld. I still use it, but, I then purchased a Fujifilm X-T1 and the damn thing just sings to me. I love that camera. Okay, think retired old guy with a weekend hobby sports car and that's me and the X-T1. Flaws, don't care. Old tech, don't care. I just love picking it up. And, yes, I have a cage custom adapted to the X-T1 so I can pick it up and shoot handheld. I've never, in my whole life, been a fanboy for anything, but the Fuji X-T1 has that thing I just can not describe except, it sings to me.
Love how you described that X-T1 connection - "like a weekend hobby sports car" is perfect! When a camera just sings to you, specs and flaws become secondary to that pure joy of shooting. Thanks for sharing that passion! 📸
X-Pro2 is the best choice IF one likes using the optical viewfinder. Otherwise the X-E3 is much better bang for buck, essentially X-Pro2 minus optical VF and weather sealing. It's smaller, too.
Plus the Pro-2 has a hybrid OVF, dual card slots, faster flash sync rate, and MUCH better build quality. I've had both, (currently have the Pro-2) and I prefer the Pro-2.
Did the same thing! Shot fuji for 7 years. Traded all but one lens for the a7r5. While I absolutely love the a7r5, I felt some heartbreak that day. I still miss my Fuji even now.
I have other Fuji bodies, other lenses, Leica too, but the X-Pro 2 remains my favorite, I am in love with this body, I could have made this video... Greetings from Belgium 👋
Thanks from across the pond! The X-Pro2 really does have that special something, doesn't it? 📸 There's just something about how it feels in hand that other cameras can't quite match.
As a user of the xp2 for over 4 years, I love it because it is "slow". By modern standards, it's auto focus is slow, it has limited frames per second and doesn't have super fast iso. However, its slowness gives thinking time. Since trading in my previous Nikon setup for this camera, my image quality and saleability, have improved dramatically. I feel that this camera becomes part of me which is something I have never felt before.
Love how you described that thoughtful, deliberate approach! The X-Pro2 really does become an extension of you - sometimes "slower" lets us see better. So glad it's elevated your photography! 📸
ve both the X-Pro 1 & X-Pro2, just spent 4 days in Venice with the XP2, it is still the best street photography camera out there. Left the XP1 behind as I knew the lighting wasn't going to be the best and the vXP1 &35 1.4 would struggle. What would I change about the XP2? Better battery and a usable WIFI connection, even with Cascable the built-in system is awful.
There's nothing wrong with making a mistake at all. We make mistakes in judgement all the time. I've sold lenses and then bought them back. Six weeks later. I've sold camera bodies and then gone. What did I do that for? And then I bought it back again? it's okay. It's part of the Photography journey and we do have relationships with our gear and maybe because I love Fuji film so much this story did make me laugh and I can totally understand it. Fuji cameras to have a personality. No other camera brand has a personality that you might not like that personality some days especially when you're trying to get the nasty little autofocus to work but guess what? That's okay they'll fix it.
Thanks for this wonderful perspective on the gear journey! You're so right about those Fuji 'personalities' - they can drive us crazy sometimes (looking at you, AF!) but that's part of what makes them special too. Love how you can laugh about the buy-sell-rebuy cycle... we've all been there! 📸
Thanks! The X-Pro2 really is something special. About the X-M1 - super different vibe from your X70, but fun in its own way. Would definitely keep that X70 though - it's becoming quite the cult classic! 📸
I love my black XM-1 with the XC 35mm on it, or sometimes the TTArtisan 27mm AF. Have ordered the X-M5 but I already know I won't like the flippy screen but going to give it a try.
Depends, as always, on what kind of photography you'll be doing. I have an X-T5, X-Pro2, X-H1 and a X-M1. For events I usually have two cameras - always the X-Pro2 plus either the X-T5 (if there's not a lot of light, or if there are dogs or kids to capture images of), but often the X-H1. The X-M1 is for travel/holidays and some street. The X-Pro2 is my favourite by far, and the only modification I've made is a thumb grip slotted into the hot shoe - makes one-handed stuff so much easier. If there are a few Fujis sitting on the desk and I'm heading for the door, it's likely to be the X-Pro2 I pick up ;-)
Awesome how you've found the perfect role for each camera! And totally get grabbing the X-Pro2 first - there's just something special about it, especially with that thumb grip upgrade. Sounds like you've really dialed in your kit for every scenario! 📸
At the moment, I have an XT5 with xf 27mm f2.8, xf 35mm f2, and xf 50mm f2. I only use the 35 and 50. I wanted to get an xpro2 or xpro3 so I can slap my pancake lens on and use for travel, venues, and other on the go occasions. Would it be redundant owning an xt5 and an xpro2/3? If so, would you pick the xpro2 over an xpro3? they are very similar in price on the market. Side note: I always go to Samy's in Dena lol
Nice prime lineup! Having a second body (especially a compact one with that 27mm) isn't redundant at all - different tools for different vibes. For pure shooting joy, X-Pro2 gets my vote over the 3's hidden screen. And hey, Samy's Pasadena is such a gem! 📸
Ah, man. I miss my x pro3 but I am waiting for the potential x pro4 next year. I bought a cheap XH2 and fell in love with that. What a machine that is but the x pro3 was more "love". Put a 27mm on it, the classic 35mm f/1.4 or the first 23mm f/1.4 and it is on. The Fujicrons fit also so perfectly on it and I prefered the OVF with the 50mm f/2.
Love how you captured that X-Pro "feeling" - it's just different, right? The XH2 is an incredible tool, but there's something special about a rangefinder with those classic primes. That OVF + 50mm f/2 combo was chef's kiss 📸
I sold all my Nikon gear for a Fuji Xpro3. No it’s not a 2 but same feelings. I’ve had this camera for 3 years now and have become completely attached to it. It’s fantastic when you can forget about the camera and just concentrate on photography.
That's exactly what makes the X-Pro series special - it just gets out of your way and lets you focus on the photography 📸 Love hearing stories like this!
I'd still like to have the q menu options of the newer models, as well as the extra film SIM editing options. Still waiting, hoping, for the next iteration
I had an x-pro2 as my second camera to my X-H2. I sold it and still am not sure I did the right thing. I just didn't feel I should own 2 cameras even though I own a bunch of lenses. Strange. It was a great camera and there is something about the body that I just love the feel and look of, plus it's more compact than the x-h2 and far better built than the xt cameras. I do a fair bit of video for my semi-serious hobby but I'm not so hung up that I need the latest video specs. I'm hoping that the x-pro4 ... whenever it comes out some day ... will be good enough to make it my one camera does all camera. In the meantime, I'll have fond memories of the x-pro2.
I totally understand those X-Pro2 regrets! There's just something special about that rangefinder design and build quality. Here's hoping the X-Pro4 brings that same magic while meeting your video needs too. Sometimes gear decisions are more emotional than purely practical! 📸
Interesting take! I know I prefer the X-Trans III colors, over the newer sensor - but you're right that X-Trans II had its own unique character. Those early X-Series JPEGs were really special. 📸
I have an xp2 with a wood & metal arca Swiss grip for perfect handling. I use a 27mm wr and my everyday all weather set up and also have a 35mm f1.4 for portraits. It’s all I need though I do have a Nikon fm2 with voigtlander 58mm nokton and I occasionally use this mf lens on the xp2
That wood grip sounds fantastic! The 27mm/35mm is such a practical combo, and adapting that Voigtlander is a great idea 📸 How's the manual focus experience?
KEH buy back event quoted more than their usual online amount? I sold all my Fuji gear on craigslist/fb. Took longer but squeezed out more resale value.
Everyone's resale experience is different - nice job being patient and finding the best value for your gear! Those buy-back events can be hit or miss compared to direct sales 📸
The X-pro2 is overrated. For a supposed high end model, the EVF eye relief is poor, no better than that of a low-end camera. One big flaw is the the polarizer in the EVF is oriented the wrong way compared to almost all other cameras - it will turn black if you try to use it with polarized sunglasses. The form factor is big for no good reason - it doesn't help with enabling a better grip. As an owner of 6 other Fuji cameras, I was glad to get rid of my X-pro2
Thanks for sharing your detailed experience. Each camera certainly has its own quirks - the sunglasses/EVF issue you mentioned is particularly interesting technical feedback. Sounds like you've found other Fuji bodies that better match your shooting style 📸
You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone! (You may not remember the lyrics of the 80's hair metal song, but maybe it was about selling Fuji gear!) 😄 Sometimes those camera choices come back to haunt us. 📸
True, some Fuji models get that hype premium (looking at you, X100V! 😅), but there are so many amazing Fujis out there at really reasonable prices. The X-T2, X-Pro2, X-H1... absolute steals for what they can do! 📸
I thought you would say how you test it thoroughly every aspect of the built and image quality, autofocus, colour science, price tag, ease of use etc., but you're just bluffing about your love-at-first-sight kind of emotional thing. I'm sorry for myself to expect serious discussion from you and wasting the precious time.
The X-Pro2 is underrated! I just picked it up and love it. Do I miss I flippy screen? Leave a comment and let me know if you prefer the X-Pro2 to other more recent Fuji offerings!
Interesting choice. How similar is it to the X100V?
The X-Pro-3 is a dog. If they ever (and it's doubtful) come out with a Pro-4 I will check it out, but it's not an automatic "upgrade". They made magic with the Pro-2.
Having basically gone full Leica, I still can’t let go of my xpro2! I know how you feel!
Wow! That says alot!
The X-E4 is great! Totally underrated and underappreciated. I loved mine when I had it.
@@WesKriesel having had the both the XE4 and XPro2, which will you recommend between the two as an EDC and backup camera to my XT5? Having the SLR style XT5 makes me wanna try a rangefinder style camera. And I boiled it down to XE4 & XPro2.
X-Pro2, no doubt. It’s a thing of beauty and just more fun.
I had the same feeling when I first picked up my X-T20. Love it.
Really! That's a camera I have to check out!
Kept my X-Pro2 after moving over to L mount. My favorite lenses to use on it are the Fuji 23mm 2.0 and the Voigtlander Snapshot Skopar 25mm 4.0. Haha you caught me! 😄 Thanks for the enthusiasm - love seeing another X-Pro2 fan! Can't wait to share what this beauty can do! 📸
I even use an X-Pro 1 with the TTArtisans 25/2 or the Fuji XC 35/2 as a daily carry and I love it. But I miss the Acros simulation 😢
Acros is nice! My favorite film simulation is Acros Yellow.
I’ve had my X-Pro 2 for 5 years. Still enjoy picking it up, playing with the buttons and dials and taking pictures. It’s not just about the images, it’s about the whole photography experience with this camera. And the 23mm f2 is my favourite lens too.

Isn't it amazing how those small additions can make the handling just perfect? Glad you found your ideal setup 📸
I love that camera. I’m currently using it with the 27 mm lens. 😊
The 27mm pancake combo is so sweet! Perfect little stealth setup. 📸

Great point about the OVF being the key differentiator! The X-E3 is definitely a solid alternative if you're mainly using EVF 📸
I own an x-pro3 and an x100vI and as much as I love my x100vI, I would choose the x-pro3 over it. It just has an amazing feel and shooting experience.
Totally agree about the X-Pro line's shooting experience! There's just something special about how they handle 📸
I feel the same too holding onto my XT3 and XH1.
Fantastic cameras! I had an X-H1 on loan from Fuji for a little bit. Very fast. Great camera! That would also be one I would consider picking up!
Did the same thing! Shot fuji for 7 years. Traded all but one lens for the a7r5. While I absolutely love the a7r5, I felt some heartbreak that day. I still miss my Fuji even now.
That feeling of camera nostalgia is so real! The A7R5 is incredible but there's just something about those Fujis that sticks with you 📸
This camera is heavier because of the materials. People don't realize, but the X-Pro is the flagship of the flagships of Fuj.

I agree, it's a bit like playing the piano and feeling all the vibrations in the body, the X-pro2 is also a physical experience...🧡

What’s the name of that rope sling with the peak design attachments
07:00 is my life mantra tbh
Love all my XPro 1-3. Looking forward to the XPro 4
The X-Pro 2 is my favorite Fuji camera. I still have mine and will keep until it (or I) dies. Whichever comes first.
"'Til death do us part" - now that's X-Pro2 love! 😄 Totally get it though - some cameras just become part of your soul. 📸

Very cool! The 23mm is definitely a sweet spot for me - sometimes lenses just click with your shooting style more than others 📸
I love the Xpro2. Its a camera I will never sell. Now tell me about that XM1 though? Im interested in that being a replacement to my X70.

I love my black XM-1 with the XC 35mm on it, or sometimes the TTArtisan 27mm AF. Have ordered the X-M5 but I already know I won't like the flippy screen but going to give it a try.
Nice setup with those lenses! Always good to try something new - would love to hear your thoughts on the X-M5 once you've used it 📸
Depends, as always, on what kind of photography you'll be doing.
@@WesKriesel thank you! I actually found an x100vi for a killer deal from a friend. So now I’m just going to sell my pancake lens lol
@@moesdeph Fantastic! Congratulations!
The newer q menu system and film sim options would be nice additions for sure. Curious to see what they bring to the next version 📸
The sensor in Xpro2 is what i disliked the most. I would choose Xtrnas II jpeg processing over Xtrans III.
Interesting take! I know I prefer the X-Trans III colors, over the newer sensor - but you're right that X-Trans II had its own unique character. Those early X-Series JPEGs were really special. 📸
x-pro2 is life.
The rangefinder that stole so many hearts! ❤️📸
I love mine!
Cheers!
I love my x-pro2...but I strongly feel that soon I will be in similar position you were....
The X-Pro2 is such a special camera - but totally get it, needs change! Whatever you decide, just make sure it's right for your shooting style. 📸
Love mine, but the Zf is calling
That Zf is calling? Nooo! 😱 Though I totally get it... but that X-Pro2 magic tho! 📸
@ still good! Always will be
Wow, I was about to sell my X-Pro 2! Hopefully it'll go to a good home. I just have too much gear.
Are you located in Southern California by any chance? I'm currently looking for one
@ No, sorry, but I live in the Midwest. And yes, they're excellent cameras! Good luck on your search!
@@ecamormex Try selling another body.

Always hard letting go of an X-Pro2! But yeah, sometimes we need to slim down the collection. Hope it finds a great new home! 📸
Hope you find one! They're getting harder to find but totally worth the hunt. 🎯
Xpro 2 is sick. I loved my XPro3 but I found the screen to be annoying later on in my experience.
The X-Pro2 really nailed it, didn't they? And yeah, that X-Pro3 screen design was definitely... an interesting choice! 📸
I am not selling any of my Fujifilm gear, ever, thank you very much.
#xpro2gang 👊🏼
Yes, yes!
I will never sell my xpro 3
Great camera!
Let that be a lesson to you. Don’t sell your Fuji gear again. 😂
You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone! (You may not remember the lyrics of the 80's hair metal song, but maybe it was about selling Fuji gear!) 😄 Sometimes those camera choices come back to haunt us. 📸
youtubers are the reason we can't even get a hold of a fuji camera without getting robbed
Lmao.
Appreciate the perspective! Different folks seek different content - some want tech specs, others connect with the experience. Thanks for watching! 🎥
