Hydrogen SPECTRAL LINES explained in HINDI

  • In this Physics video in Hindi for class 11 and 12 we explained hydrogen spectral lines with the concept of Bohr's atomic model. Excited hydrogen atoms emit photons and when those are passed through a prism photons are going through dispersion. On the screen few lines are seen which are known as spectral lines. Those line are categorised in few series, viz., Lyman series, Balmer series, Paschen series, Brackett series, Pfund series, Humphreys series etc. The photons emitted by excited hydrogen are having energy exactly same as the difference in energy levels of hydrogen orbits. This fact strengthens Bohr's third postulate.

    Sir, you said that applied voltage excites the electrons to go at higher states,ok that's clear! But my question is that, will these electrons come to lower state by lowering the voltage or just keeping the voltage same? I mean the voltage that push electron to higher level,will this same voltage return back them to lower level or it is necessary to lower the voltage to deexcite the electrons?

      Electron is one but oribtals are 7 in hydrogen atom, it is spectrochemically proved.

      An atom can have several other Orbits but they are empty.It contains only one electron but other orbitals(say orbit,for now) are empty..

    But sir when we pass a certain wavelength of light from prism the wavelength will change according to the thicknesses of prism
    And thickness of prism is not same everywhere so the spectrum will change
