Brilliant again lad, I do like the way you explained the difference between a huss and a dog. And different bait presentation on different hook styles brilliant man 👍👍
Graham Laverack - Thanks Graham, sadly the bream didn’t play ball that tide but that’s fishing. I’m glad you found the bits on rigs, tips and info helpful. 👍🏻

Nice video! From other Sea Bass addict! Thanks for the tips
Hi Dom, I'm one of your subscribers (from Fremantle), check out Dom's channel everyone for great catch n cook videos. Dom's channel and The Fish Locker are two of my fave fishing channels, no fancy bling, no million dollar boats, just great down to earth channels, very entertaining and packed with useful info...
Another top video and much appreciated. Spent the early morning today drifting for plaice on my kayak but had to settle for gurnard and mackerel (and the obligatory lesser spotted!) although I heard another kayaker cheer a turbot, not sure the size as was 150 yds away. Do you have plans to target plaice, flounder, turbot, dab etc? Cheers.
dukeofmodena - Thanks bud. I did find a new area to try for turbot almost by accident the other week. If the plaice are still around when I get home I will be giving them a go to. Fingers crossed. 😉🎣
Great, look forward to that. Only ever caught one turbot, 2 years ago off a beach down by Bordeaux. Got there and, although mid August and really warm, the wind was blowing a gale, the surf was up, there was a really strong right to left pull and there was weed everywhere, it looked grim. I just fished a mackerel bait with 6oz grip leads not expecting anything (it was either fish or sit on the beach with the Mrs) and I pulled in a lovely 12" fat turbot thinking it was another load of weed. Would've been ideal for the BBQ but it was our last day there and I couldn't be bothered to clean it again! Should've seen the looks on the French fishermen's faces when I put it back!
dukeofmodena - Haha. I’ve had that same look all over the world. I have a little Mark from the shore where I’ve had turbot before but only maybe 8” across. This mark on the boat could throw a better one up. 😉
TheAudiostud - Estuary Fishing is a great shout for bass fishing. Here is a vid with a couple of methods I use. th-cam.com/video/a2LjTwAKnzg/w-d-xo.html. I hope it helps. 👍🏻
You have some really varied fishing where you live. I love estuary fishing, sadly I don't have any where I live. That's were I cut my teeth fishing the River Plym near Plymouth. As soon as the tide started to come in you could see big shoals of Bass and Mullet swimming in with the tide.Great fun on light gear. How big do the Giltheads go..
chris Court - It’s great laid back fishing isn’t it. I really enjoy it, getting out early before all the noise and drama. The gilts here get to 5-6lb on occasion, but most are around the 2lb mark. Still great fun. 👍🏻🎣😉😊🐟
I have caught Giltheads when I was in Gibralter, my old man was was in the RN and as a young kid we lived there for 3 years. I am now 61 and I still get excited before a fishing trip. Out tomorrow on the boat 6.am start before the crowds arrive..
MrSpike2450 - Yes there are a couple of nice holes that hold good fish on that stretch. 😉👍🏻🎣 I’ve had a few doubles out of there in the past. Lately has just been hordes of 2-4lbers though.
Crappie Fishing with nottheexpert88 - Thankyou very much. I’ve covered quite a few of our UK species in my vids, but bass is one of my favourites. 👍🏻🎣 Checked yours out to. Great stuff. Subbed back. 😉
Trojs Fishing - Oh no. I feel your pain I really do mate. Though I prefer to at least see what I’ve hooked if I do lose it. I absolutely hate it when you hook something really good and it’s gone before you know what it was. Chin up mate. At least you know what you were doing was working. Bite off or hook pull?
You guys have the same fish as us in the US just different. Your bass are like our stripers and your offshore bottom fish are close to ours. Pollock haddock and cod are the same but our king are red hake
Paul Gantz - I’ve done a bit of fishing in Texas before and the only real noticeable difference I saw is we don’t have any native catfish species. Your stripers get mammoth compared to our sea bass. Our max out at 20lb. I do hope to catch one one day. 😉🎣👍🏻
If you ever make it to New Jersey let me know. I can get you on one no problem. It's funny cause I fish off a 16ft aluminum and people think i'm crazy for some of the places I take it. Love the videos
Can h recommend a spinning road and reel for my dad for xmas? He watched you all the time. He just likes to spin and walk the beach. I was trying to see what you used in ur videos. You said a penn conflict inshore ? Is this a good one to get? And what reel. Im in ireland. Thanks
Where are you based to mate, I just thought you were up in the north east because of your accent. Are you ex army as you are always well turned out for an angler!
I thought you were. My Wife’s Brother is ex Army and he always looks tidy whatever he does. It’s definitely a bit warmer down here. We moved here about 4 years ago from Cardiff and I don’t know why but didn’t fish as much as we used to in the Bristol Channel. We live near Looe on the South coast and bought a small boat a few months ago but it’s a totally different way of fishing here compared to the Cardiff foreshore where we used to fish from our boat for cod and other rays and things so your “local knowledge” is really welcome mate!
Glyn Harding - Well I’m glad you’re enjoying them and finding them useful mate. 👍🏻🎣 If there is anything you want to ask or chat about give me a shout on the Fishlocker fb page. 😉
An idylic place to fish and the sounds of early morning is fantastic.
Brilliant again lad, I do like the way you explained the difference between a huss and a dog. And different bait presentation on different hook styles brilliant man 👍👍
jay cooke - Thanks for the feedback mate. I’m glad that you found it useful. I’ll bare that in mind in future vids and try to do the same. 👍🏻🎣
Thanks for that John. A good watch and informative as always. Top man !
Graham Laverack - Thanks Graham, sadly the bream didn’t play ball that tide but that’s fishing. I’m glad you found the bits on rigs, tips and info helpful. 👍🏻

I would definitely have to try a catch and cook if I caught a Bull Huss, if they taste anything like Dogfish I would be very happy...
david - I know a good few folks who eat huss. 😉👍🏻
Lost about a 3lb Gilthead the other day right on the shoreline not been able to hook another since sometimes fishing sucks :)
Trojs Fishing - Oh no. I feel your pain I really do mate. Though I prefer to at least see what I’ve hooked if I do lose it. Paul Gantz - Thats awesome mate, Thankyou. Yeah I take my 16ft fibreglass boat all over. Sharking, wreck fishing I love it.👍🏻🎣

tim newcombe - Haha. Who doesn’t love a bit of that?!! I’ll give it a go and let you know how it goes. ;)

Where are you based to mate, I just thought you were up in the north east because of your accent. Are you ex army as you are always well turned out for an angler!
Glyn Harding - Haha. Thankyou. Ex RN. I am from the north east but live down in the south west now mate. Much better climate and fishing. 😉🎣
I thought you were. My Wife’s Brother is ex Army and he always looks tidy whatever he does. It’s definitely a bit warmer down here. Have you ever tried earthworms John , in estuaries or the ocean ? I havn't as yet but curious as to their effectiveness .
bryn mitchell - I have used them before but year ago when a lad. They catch flounders in the tidal rivers. 👍🏻🎣
Subbed 👌🏻 will check the rest of ur channel later tonight
The Bassanator - Cheers mate. Tight lines 🎣👍🏻
