They won't completely get rid of ICEs any time in the near future. Porsche is researching bio fuels which have little in the way of emissions produced when burned. This will keep their more traditional engines around for a long time to come.
On the other hand, once SS batteries are realized it will be a serious game charger for electric vehicles. Once there's a 911 turbo S e-hybrid w/ a solid state battery, it will be an absolute monster (as if it already isnt). I haven't heard of any new breaking developments in solid state lately, but maybe Ive missed something.
Hopefully you're right about the ICEs. At FutureCurious, we 'd like to see both options available: A classic ICE (potentially with bio fuels) plus a fully electric version of the 911.
Without Solid-State batteries, the all electric 911 is the Taycan. (They needed a bigger car for the battery).
Im a Porsche fan and owner and I have to say that I’m sorry - if Porsche hasn’t realized by now that if people want electric cars they’d just buy a Chinese one… they’re truly doomed.
They did realize, but European Automakers are oftentimes slow in changing directions. And yes, that might be their doom.
Porsche needs to make their Hybrid 911 compete with the Tesla Model S plaid.
Any performance car which costs over double a model S plaid should compete on performance. Especially as a Coupe vs Sedan.
Hopefully Porsche does this.
Well in real world use 911 is far superior to Plaid. If you look at Nordschleife lap times for example GT3 RS beats plaid by 30 seconds.
A hahahaha.. ev…. Ahahahaha…
