play pokemon tcg from GBC. you can build any deck you see room this era except the fossil ditto and this specific electrode aren't in the game because their poke powers were too difficult to adapt into the game at the time.
Maybe it’s the couple of weed gummy‘s I’m taking, but this is wild. The Machamp/Alakazam/Chansey deck is literally built on “as long as I have Pokémon center, I will live forever. And even if I use it, I have cards that can let me use it again. But that card could be the next card I draw, I could have four in my hand already, or it could be 20 cards down the deck”. Meanwhile the Zapdos deck is literally just multiple Deathstars that can one shot literally everything that’s not immune to it and Chansey, but it can only fire it’s death kill once every couple of turns, and everything else in the deck is built as either energy or a Pokémon sacrificing itself to become a battery, allowing the death star to charge twice as fast. it’s two mega forces of destruction, an unstoppable force meeting an unmovable wall. I guess at that point it’s just kind of a race to set up before the other person can, because once everything is set up, zapdos just has to race and do as much damage as it can while Machamp is trying to punch at it before your player gets Pokémon center, and the Machamp has to race to try and survive long enough for enough electrodes to kill themselves, meanwhile you’re doing half damage on the zapdos.

Good match and fun format. I’ve got these same decks built myself but different list that are pretty consistent. Couldn’t help but notice the lack of gusting. 2 is a minimum in this format for me. Especially for decks like Buzzap that can easily take OHKO’s. That combined with gust of wind and you can overwhelm the opponent very quickly.
This is great content. Really awesome. Base-fossil is the best. You guys really put in some effort in these videos. It is great. Thank you. If I could change anything, I’d add another commentator. You are great as the main one, it’d be awesome to see some discussion. Preferably a player, pointing out the thought processes behind what they are doing, so you guys can go back and forth a bit
So I’ve only just recently gotten into Pokemon TCG due to the game boy game on the switch, are these established popular decks that people recreated back in the day or are these just decks that someone had or made for this channel?
@@Joker22593how do you manipulate a coin flip? You flip the coin and it’s either one or the other unless the guy calling it lies which side it landed on? 🤷♂️
Do you have a Discord or anything? I've been super interested in Old school TCG format for like the last year but hard to get consistent groups to play with
@@holon_phantom Do you have a link to it by chance? Searching that into google and reddit I can't find anything with that name. I even looked on archived decklists sites dedicated to old PTCG
@@holon_phantom It might have been my phone. For some reason this was the only video that I couldn't listen to. I watched it completely regardless. Enjoying these kinds of battles. This brings joy to my heart. ❤
This looks staged to me. Any competitive decks from that era always run Enegy Removal/Super Energy Removal. That Electrode should have been live for 1 turn at most vs any decent deck from that era. The lack of those 2 cards being played almost every turn, multiple times a turn is a deck built by noobs.
@@holon_phantom I know what you mean. You probably got the decklist from his website. Then again. Back then everyone thought Jungle - Lickitung was a terrible card. Then in retrospect, it turned out to be a pretty potent card for certain strategies. I'm just saying, I played these formats years ago and ER/SER and Lass were always just around the corner when you played compenent players.
Double electrode KO was an absolute baller move. Huge play.
Risky indeed
I've never played Pokemon or learnt the rules. Watching these 2 games I've learnt the rules and now really want to make a cool deck!
The match itself was pretty great, but what sold this video for me was definitely the narration. Props.
After watching that slog of a Machamp v Gyardos match, I'm glad this happened.
Watching these videos really makes me want to try and build these decks, I love the buzzap zapdos deck!
It was a lot of fun to use! Glad you enjoy the videos!

@@Davey647Returnswon’t work, you can make a similar deck with no Electrode however
been playing these formats lately, so nice seeing these videos. Keep em coming lets see more matchups!
Glad you enjoyed it! We've got a lot more planned!
Just to say, this is my favorite channel on TH-cam. I have been building retro decks lately, and they are so fun!
Those 5 lucky rolls really won the game for the Zapdos player.
This video format is great, it's fast paced, good commentary that isn't overblown, it's a pleasure to watch.
Damn, I got chills from watching this. GG to both players.

Brings back so many good memories. Zapdos is my favorite pokemon and was my first ever foil from a pack I opened when pokemon cards first came out.
good game. Zapdos with elctrode looks fun but super risky
6:49 One of the most draining moments for any serious player in the Base-Fossil Format, I'm sure. All that effort, all that damage. For squat.
Vintage battles ftw! Amazed these decks don’t run more Gusts of Wind to target those support Pokémon like Alakazam
That was cool! Really enjoyed that ending!!!
Awesome, thank you!

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I got these lists from Jason Klaczynski's blog, he only uses 1 gust in the zapdos list
It was so close but thankfully Zapdos managed to win on the last turn. I enjoyed watching it.

Thanks for the kind words! I've thought about having a second host, but I don't have anyone handy. My wife is too shy to commentate alongside me lol
Chansey and Alakazam combo is really cool!!
So I’ve only just recently gotten into Pokemon TCG due to the game boy game on the switch, are these established popular decks that people recreated back in the day or are these just decks that someone had or made for this channel?
Does it bother anyone else that there are literally two coins sitting on the table and the guy is rolling dice to determine heads or tails?
No, because tournament rules require rolling dice to simulate coin flips. It's easier to manipulate coin flips.
@@Joker22593how do you manipulate a coin flip? You flip the coin and it’s either one or the other unless the guy calling it lies which side it landed on? 🤷♂️
I can flip a coin and have it land heads up I think at least 70% percent of the time. Its not really all that random and you can practice at it
I agree it looks ridiculous. Especially when he rolled like 6 heads in a row
That was crazy lol
Great Match! What A Comeback! 💪💪💪
Gust of WIN!
The lack of Gust of Wind in the Zapdos deck is a problem
It only ran 1 copy
Let's give a round of applause to the real hero card this match, Gust of Wind Trainer card!
