I wouldn't really call myself a monster high fan, but I think part of the appeal is that, at the time, most dolls were cutesy and pink and pretty, but these were gothic and dark. Basically, their success is that they stood out and did something new.
Here to say… I HAD THE ANGRY BIRDS MOUTHWASH. I vividly remember begging my mom for it in a Walgreens in 2012, this is when I would beg for anything with an Angry Birds sticker on it and she saw this as something actually practical. It sat on our sink for at least 6 years.
Lalalooopsys are still in store. For years they actually weren’t. But in 2021 it was the lines 10 year anniversary so they brought them back. I’m kind of a “Lalaloopsy historian” lol I remember every commercial from when I was a kid
Did you know that on October 1st, 2022, Monster High was rebooted? Also getting two live action movies and a TV show on Nickelodeon? Also, those Poopsie toys were precursors to Rainbow High dolls, facial feature wise. And many TH-camrs had taken a look at Hatchamals. Specifically Chadtronic. I also have 7 Amiibos. All of Splatoon characters. I have Callie, Marie, Pearl, Marina, Shiver, Frye, and Big Man.
As a guy who's secretly kinda liked the Fijit Friends since they came out, I will say the main things that set them apart from Furbies were the tactile, rubber skin that gave them much more of a fluid-like appearance, and the neat feature of being able to have more of a conversation with them. It went beyond "babble-back" technology (Hasbro's words, not mine), where instead of talking to it and having it make some generic response, you could somewhat hold conversations about typical kid things (school, feelings, etc.), and have them respond accordingly. Then, of course, there's the whole "music" aspect of the toy. Not only could your Fijit Friend dance to your music (much better than Furbies imo), they also had built-in music you can dance along to as well! Even their backstory revolves around music, essentially being science experiments brought to life by the power of music! In any case, even though Fijit Friends and Furbies fall within the category of "interactive robotic companion," they're quite apart from each other in terms of what they actually do.
I've played through all the Skylanders games and binged on them one after the other for two or three months back when I streamed. I think they peaked at Swap Force and had a close-to-the-peak with Superchargers before falling flat at Imaginators. I remember almost falling asleep at the end chapters of Imaginators. 😅 Still, despite that I enjoyed Skylanders, and still have the cabinet full of toys in my room.
Honestly, I also feel like Imaginators was kinda "flat" compared to the others. As much as I liked making my own Skylander, I really wanted it to be complete creative freedom, not "out of what you've got here, take your pick". But also the main thing that really stood out to me - aside from the final fight - was Baron von Shellshock returning as not only a somewhat anti-hero, but even a cameo in another place where he was aiming to become future king or something. Took so many pics back then. He was one of my fave Skylanders characters and I wish to this day he could've become playable.

So Amiibo…. Have you never heard of collecting as a hobby? Amiibo have a wide variety of characters and several of them don’t have a figure outside of an Amiibo. Even for characters that do have a figure, a lot of them cost over $100 for a brand new one directly from the company, or other retailer, as opposed to $15 for an Amiibo. Even for a more budget friendly line, like Pop-up Parade, those still cost about $40. Admittedly I have never played Skylanders, Disney Infinity, nor Lego Dimensions but I fail to see how Amiibo is more greedy than those games. If I have already payed full price for a game and starter pack why do I need to buy more figures to access content already on the disc? Even though I don’t have that robotic stuffed animal, when you mentioned Moose Toys, that reminded me of a toy line that I was obsessed with that didn’t make it onto this list. Little Live Pets was created by Moose Toys, in 2005 I believe, and they are still being produced today. I used to have so many of them. I particularly liked the birds that repeated what you said, but that can get old pretty quickly. I only have one of the Little Live Pets now, a cat named Cuddles. I honestly think she is the fluffiest stuffed animal that I have, and she is surprisingly very interactive. Though she just meows and purrs, and does the same stuff when you turn her on, I still find enjoyment out of her because of my love for cats. Another toy that made it onto this list that I like is Monster High. I have always loved collecting dolls because I like seeing what the characters look like and having dolls of my favorite characters. Some of them even have tactile details, like the molded on mummy wraps on Cleo de Nile, my favorite Monster High character.

Nowadays all of their dusty, silent, neglected and forgotten corpses are strewn all over our Dark Souls map of a bedroom rotting away. On a side note, I even got the Kung Zhu DS game that had like 3 whole levels and ended on a cliffhanger for some reason. Good times!
I feel as if Beyblades could've been an honorable mention as the Metal Fight era was ending in the early 2010's, and Beyblade Burst rebooted the franchise in 2015 and ended in 2022 with Beyblade X becoming its succesor in late 2023. While the hype was dying down since many people favorite era of Beyblade was coming to an end, the franchise still saw a lot of succes with Hasbro creating many spinoffs and respective products between 2012 and 2015. The release of Beyblade Burst in 2015 reintroduced the ip with a show geared slightly more towards younger audiences than before, and an exciting new mechanic in which you could win a battle. The reason why i think it would only be an honorable mention is due to the way Hasbro started to sacrifice quality for quantity and gimmicks, which prompted a lot of backlash towards hasbro, as well as a growing market of international customers buying thhe predominantly japanese products due to their authenticity.

On a side note, I even got the Kung Zhu DS game that had like 3 whole levels and ended on a cliffhanger for some reason. Good times!
I like squashmallows because they're really really soft. I got one before they were really popular and still affordable and i use it daily

The reason why i think it would only be an honorable mention is due to the way Hasbro started to sacrifice quality for quantity and gimmicks, which prompted a lot of backlash towards hasbro, as well as a growing market of international customers buying thhe predominantly japanese products due to their authenticity.
unlike Furby, you could turn a Hatchimals off
