The Symptoms Of Hiatal Hernia Syndrome

  • Hiatal Hernia Syndrome can be composed of a variety of symptoms that are severe and can result in visits to the ER. Most often patients I meet have had one or more ER visits because they were convinced they were having a heart attack.
Once that's ruled out, patients are often then diagnosed with anxiety and put on dangerous medications.
Almost standardly the patient is minimally given an acid blocker like omeprazole, which unfortunately can be the exact wrong treatment since their problem isn't due to true excess acid.
Some of the symptoms found in Hiatal Hernia Syndrome are as follows:
    Acid reflux or GERD
    Bloating, Gas
    Anxiety
    Panic Attacks
    Heart palpitations and chest pain
    Pressure in chest
    Fatigue
    Insomnia
    Constipation or Diarrhea
    Shortness of breath
Trouble swallowing or a sore throat
    Tingling in hands or feet
    Burping
    Symptoms worsen when bending over
    and more...
What's important is to get to the true root cause of the problem and with that accomplished the problem can be fully remedied.

Another symptom no one hardly talks about is coughing. I had a lot of coughing with my hiatal hernia.

Did you feel the need like when you are sick with the itchy throat? Or is it like a constant need to kinda clear your throat?

I’ve suffered with this for over 10 years. My main symptoms are chest tightness, shortness of breath, dizziness, light headedness. And of course ensuing anxiety. I had to stop wearing a bra because it made it so much worse, especially with exercise. Many times I worry I’m having a heart attack (called 911 once.) I’ve figured that if I can burp and it feels better it’s not a heart attack. Diaphragmatic breathing helps when I get anxious, it must be also helping relax the diaphragm. I’ve seen internists, gastroenterologists and cardiologists with all the workup, antacids and diet the only treatment recommended. Oh and anxiety medication. (Nope). If I wasn’t underweight I’m sure they would have said I need to loose some pounds. Thanks for acknowledging the problem.

Among the myriad symptoms I’ve had in my HH oddessy, some of the most disturbing have been when either pepsin or acidic gasses get up into my head…… ear lobes on fire, dry, burning eyes, burning sinuses, peppery, stinging sensation on the lips. I much prefer the knot in my mid torso to that other stuff.

don't forget the feeling like somebody's choking you. tightness . even swollen tonsils, sinus infections, choking on food. choking on nothing... (likely aspirating stomach acid.) now I'm getting those migrain spots before my eyes that are zigzag and brightly colered. If I went to the ER with all of these symptoms they would definitely put me in a straight jacket. I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia three years ago. I'm still not getting any help from anybody. My primary care thinks I'm a pain in her butt . She's rude to me and dismissive.

    • @hotwireman49

@@juanio7036 just shortness of breath but not any worse upon reaching. Chest pain definitely. It is akin to a charley horse and I wonder if it is my diaphragm spasming or if it is my stomach spasming. It often goes straight through to my back. It could also be pancreas but they checked all that and it came back with nothing. I've had ultrasounds and blood work. Nobody knows what's wrong with me. I'm on the carnivore diet now and I feel much better but the gerd symptoms are still there. I'm trying betaine HCL with pepsin and I'm also trying ACV supplement capsules. Not really helping much

You just described my experience over the last several years. Luckily, I haven’t had palpitations for 1.5 years- it’s terrible! The ER, doctors, & even cardiologist don’t know to consider. Look forward to knowing what to do, how to help myself. I will be sharing your videos with the above mentioned. So hopefully, they can identify others in the future. Thank you for sharing!!

Oh boy, you hit it on the nail because I’ve suffered with these symptoms for years so I am very familiar and you are naming every symptom I have and I also had a theory similar to what you’re saying right now. I have had the right upper quadrant ache since college. I am 33 now. My ct was clean, ultra was clean, endoscopy clean… I have been having shortness of breath, out of wack cortisol, occasional tingling of fingers. I have been told it’s stress and all in my head!!!!
I have been lifting weights aggressively and competing in jiu jitsu and wrestling since college! I think it’s all adding up. I am not a high anxiety person, but having this happen with 0 answers for almost a decade is killing me!

Very educational, Thank You! Does Haital Hernia cause Sleep Apnea and Tooth decay? Does it affect the heart's electrical signals to produce arrythmias?

    • @Ayverie4
      @Ayverie4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Tooth decay can be associated with acid reflux
I also believe HH can be related to sleep apnea. I have throat tension due to chronic belching caused by HH. I think I have vocal chord dysfunction, as it mimics asthma. And my throat feels more closed than it used to.

. I am having all these symptoms. I went to ER for this . They said I’m fine but refer to cardiologist they did ECHO Holter and stress test . They said I’m fine but having some asymptomatic atrial complex . He said it’s due to your anxiety . But I diagnosed with hiatal hernia after endoscopy . I can easily feel these symptoms are coming together when stomach upset my heart is also upset. But my dr didn’t pay attention for it . He said to reduce my anxiety. I can feel some abnormal beats like skipping beats sometimes , it makes me stressed. I would really like to be from this .waiting for a reply

If I eat clean, non processed foods I cook , no seed oils… I am fine… eat some restaurant food, I start getting bloating, gas, tummy nauseous… more people should try giving up chemical food…
