The storyline of that final clip of Phoebe accosting Mona was hilarious....Dr Charles Tyler divorcing Phoebe for Mona...I loved that show as a kid...In my subconscious I still think those characters are long lost relatives...
Funny, I saw Myrtle Whitmore on Madison Ave in 1982 waiting at a bus stop and I jokingly asked her if she was Myrtle Whitmore...She acted like I didn't exist.... Billy Clyde Tuggle (about that same time) was just the opposite and he immediately went full into character...He was a great actor...
If only they were still presenting characters with this much depth the soaps wouldn't be in the cellar. This is what has been missing from the soaps for years. It's a shame.
Ruth Warrick was a great lady. Her character interactions with Mona, Donna, Kitty/Kelly, Myrtle were classic. The pairing with Langley was superb. The early days of AMC were great. The show barely seems like a soap anymore.
I loved Ruth Warrick. As an aspiring actor she is one of my idols. In real life Ruth was like Auntie Mame. However on the show I loved it when Myrtle Fargate always put that imperious Phoebe in her place. Eileen Herlie was also a favorite of mine & I was so saddened by her passing. We are lucky to have had both these angels with us for as long as we did! RIP girls!
Loved Ruth Warrick - she really clued into the fact that the more outrageously bitchy, melodramatic and overtly earnest Phoebe was, the more comedic the scenes would be. Such a fabulously entertaining actress, perhaps the greatest comic relief ever seen on an American soap opera.
The early episodes of the Phoebe-Charles-Mona scenes or simply the Mona-Phoebe confrontations were tremendous. The airplane scene in itself is a classic. Loved Ruth Warrick and Frances Heflin.
I want to see the full scenes so much. Love this time period I was 5 years old when AMC started and my baby sitter watched it. I remember thinking Phoebe was just awful to Link and Ann Tyler not to mention the way she would treat Mona ,of course I grew to love me my Aunt Pheebs.
Phoebe was the best. I loved how she would torment her husbsnds girlfriend and show up drunk and insulting. Was it Mona Kane Phoebes' husband was divorcing her for?
Can someone please answer a ? for me? I was wondering when Myrtle Lum Fargate started on the show she married Nigel Fargate. Okay in the script it says she left Pine Valley with him to be married. Now the ? is did Eileen Herlie actually leave the show at one time or did she still appear on there after she left Pine Valley?
Phoebe was one woman nobody messed with! What a character Ruth played! May she RIP
Ruth Warrick was a priceless actress and Phoebe was an asset to the show

That's really nice background music during the Phoebe and Myrtle scene. Kinda sad and soulful.

She had to be; otherwise, Agnes Nixon was planning to fire her around '70 or '71.

"Mrs........Kane......."
Love how she spits the name out with venom!
+T James Speaking "Mrs Kane" I saw her in Citizen Kane as Charles Foster Kane's wife. The breakfast scene is great.

Mona Kane was Charles Tyler's secretary. They fell in love and married.
@tallulah1961 Eileen started in 1976. Nigel then died in '76. Myrtle never left the show until 2008 when Eileen passed away and Myrtle was killed off.
God bless you Myrtle Fargate!

Phoebe Tyler Wallingford was a very opinionated woman.
Does anyone know Phoebe still alive.
She is dead
This was the flash back when she died.
Ruth Warrick died on January 15, 2005. The role of Phoebe wasn’t recast, & Phoebe died on ALL MY CHILDREN.
@@buzzyuncle340 Amen to that. I stayed up till 3:00 one morning to watch ALL MY CHILDREN on SOAPNET and bid my farewell to Phoebe Tyler Wallingford.
RIP Peter White
