    I like that the entire bucket holds food.
    How many inches is the gap between the inner pipe and bottom of the bucket?

    Great job. We're about to hatch out our first batch of quail. They are jumbo coturnix. Do you think we would need higher holes since they're a little taller?

    what is the distance from the bottom of plastic container for the hole?

    • @FoodForesters

      It’s about a inch and a half. But that will also depend on your 90’s.

      Leda Kerrigan yes it did work pretty good. The thin plastic bucket did last very long in the Florida weather though. I need to find a bucket that thicker.

    What do you put in your water feeder for quails?

    • @FoodForesters

      1991syna water. When they are young or I think they are sick I add a slash of apple cider vinegar.

    How many quail in that cage? How many of these would you need for 25 quails?

    • @FoodForesters
      @FoodForesters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tomislav Puhalo this cage can handle 25 quail easily. The only mistake I made with this cage is I made it to tall. You only need it to be 8 to 12 inches tall.

    • @TheC920996mmkj
      @TheC920996mmkj 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FoodForesters Thanks for replying so soon. I really like your design, I just have a few more questions. So if you had 25 birds in the one cage with only one of these feeders, would the 4 feeding holes in the bucket be sufficient for them all? Or would you need more holes, or another bucket perhaps? Basically my question is how many feeding holes are needed for 25 birds?

    • @FoodForesters
      @FoodForesters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had over 25 birds in the cage and it worked fine for that many birds. But I was having to fill it up every day. So I would use two feeders. So your not always filling it up

    I did it in black 1 1/2 inch and the quail couldn’t find food. I even put food on the edge. There are no 1 1/4 inch of those pipe fittings person said, where did you get yours. I’m thinking of trying this without the lip.

    • @FoodForesters
      @FoodForesters  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Johanna Samansky I picked it up at True Value hardware. My quail eat out of them just fine. 1 1/2 should work just fine too

  • @SpYucaipaSoCal
    @SpYucaipaSoCal ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m going to make a box outside the cage save some space and easily fill without opening the doors. But same principle. A clear container would be best so you can see feed levels. My quail are outside and the rodents are a problem so I have 1/2” wire cages for this reason.
    Excellent idea sir.

      Thank you for your ideas. I am just getting back into doing quail and I want to try and be as conscientious as I need to be. Especially with what's going on right now with monetary problems across the world. Want to be as none wasteful as possible.
