What about the part when the mercenaries went to kidnapp Leia? She was literally sorrounded, but apparently they said, 'Nah nah, give her some advantage she's a little kid. Let her run first while we watch her run away and react 5 secods later.' The little girl couldn't even run but somehow she kept three grown-up professional mercenaries from capturing her, until they come full circle with Leia in the middle, sorrounded again, but this time they say, 'Okay, enough fucking around, let's put her in a bag and gtfo of here!'
Hilarious, but sad at the same time. That and making Obi Wan a bitch, as useless as a storm trooper!
It was written for grade school children who can't think very well and are partly distracted by TikTok.

My favorite part is where the old lady is like who are you? And Reva just looks off, and says “I’m Reva, Reva Skywalker.”

You have shown undeniable issues that few people are talking about, like the fact that Leia coudn't manage to become a senator if she was clearly a rebel because of her link to a jedi.
Just 2 things I cannot get over: Leia obviously didn't know Obi Wan personally in episode IV, also, Vader and Obi Wan had their first encounter in episode IV... That breaks the lore so hard that even though I don't allow myself to get excited about Star Wars anymore, it happened to me again, and I couldn't even watch the whole episode... "look how they butchered my boy"
Not an issue if Disney intend to remake the original trilogy from scratch and call it Canon.

Ben’s lightsaber magically turned into a baseball bat. It took two, three whacks for him to take down one of those storm troopers.
Saddest part is that Ewan was a prodigy with a lightsaber.

I have been majorly disappointed by the light sabers. They sound so cool now but they seem more like swords instead of lava sticks like they should be.

Spot on in regards to Vader. Vader was always, should always, and is supposed to be, uncompromising, cunning, clever, ruthless, terrifyingly imposing and nightmarishly formidable. This show is detracting from these qualities that he is shown to possess in the OT.
Vader would not have given Moses Ingram's character a chance to speak after a failure like that. He would have snapped her neck and walked over her body. You're right, Vader was not written in the way we know him.

There are 2 types of people who watch this show, the ones like us, holding out a slight amount of hope, only for it to be crushed and rightfully criticizing its poor writing, direction and overall quality. Or the disney shills who call you a toxic racist misogynistic gatekeeper for stating a opinion or calling out the lore breaking decisions, how are we the toxic ones here.
You're more optimistic than I. I haven't watched moment of Disney Star Wars since TLJ, and every one of these reviews affirms that decision. I am sad about what could have been. But I can't bring myself to watch any more.

One of my favorite shows has representation and is comprised of mostly strong female characters, it's great that they can have those themes if they can do it well and in a way that doesn't disrespect anyone, but those aren't the main reasons I like a show. If a show has those themes as the main point of the show then that's fine by me, as long as it's entertaining and respectful that's all I need. Sadly a lot of entertainment just has these themes but forgot the entertainment and respect part, people can attack your character when you don't like something, they should accept that some people can simply find subjective entertainment to be boring and themes don't automatically make something good, themes can actually be done wrong and be harmful to an extent.
I hope you tragically optimistic lads will do the sensible thing and tap out from here on out. The writing has been clearly on the wall for a while now. They don't care about us Star Wars fans.

You gotta love how Vader is upset at Space Moses for letting Kenobi escape when he was in the perfect position to capture him at the end of the last episode, but chose not to because he was on the other side of a slightly large fire. That confirms that he didn't let Kenobi go on purpose for any of the potential reasons fans had speculated about (he wants to prolong his suffering, he's enjoying the thrill of the hunt, he's disappointed by Kenobi's weakness and wants to defeat him when he's stronger, he wants Kenobi to lead him back to his allies, etc.), and instead did so because of plot-induced stupidity. Bravo, Disney, bravo.

Also their armor allows them to survive for about 20 min in space because of its integrated oxigen tank. So how did they drown???
If I'm being EXTREMELY generous to the writers and doing their job for them... maaaaaybe the Stormtroopers actually got crushed by water pressure instead of drowning? Depending on how deep the base's tunnel was, it could be plausible.
The many problems with that theory are:
Obi-wan seemed to swim to around that depth no problem, I have no idea if water pressure would actually work to kill Stormtroopers in their armor (and neither do the writers), the show doesn't really convey drowning to the viewer, it makes the viewer put in work that the writer should have done to fix what is clearly a broken scene, and I think we all know the writers didn't actually think even one nanometer that far into any problems the scene causes. They just wrote it, heads empty, and moved on.
It's just a terrible scene, plain and simple.
I loved the part where Elaria Sand knocked a stormtrooper practically unconscious with an open handed slap on his armored helmet.
The suckatude is strong with this one.
Imagine living in that universe XD. Apparently from this, poor stormtroopers are in fear every day because if they trip, they would be dead immediately on the spot. They would die from the smallest impact.
Dontcha know, the Force is female! Don't underestimate the power of the femme side! The trooper was a man, so naturally he had no defenses against a woman, even though she was at least a foot and a half shorter.
As sad as it is, it’s pretty consistent with what we saw stormtrooper helmets withstand before, especially during the battle of Endor. Seems like they’re more designed to enhance any force put on them then protect .
The inside of the helmet is lined with spikes dummy! Hahah

Reva as a character has regressed to the point where in the first episode she was tired of chasing scraps and her sole objective seemed to be Obi-Wan.
Now in episode 4 she had Leia again and knew Obi-Wan could come for her again but all she wanted was to know was how to capture these 'scraps' and let Obi-Wan escape for that purpose? Stupid!
And in any case these writers don't seem to live the world they're writing. In that interrogation scene of Leia, when Reva told her that Obi-Wan was dead, Leia would've naturally asked "Who?".
Stupid stupid writing.
And for a 6 episode series we know so little of her yet.
I watch the show just to come here and hear you tear it apart. I wish DisneyPlus had a dislike button I could press anytime I watch it.
seems like they dont make the events clear enough like i wasnt sure if reva knew obi wan escaped or thought he died. vader walking away from obi wan its not clear why he let him go/gave up. trying to sneak leia out under a big coat was a little silly lol
I have also enjoyed listening to these reviews much more than watching the actual episode.

Didn’t even notice the immense implications of the Empire knowing Leia and her dad are in cahoots with rebels. Especially that Bail Organa knows where Obi Wan is/was able to contact him, that should immediately be a red flag and enough for the empire to arrest him.
this ep was the nail in the coffin for me, it has become clear they simply do not know what they're doing
People are saying that because leia spent a few days with obi and random officer girl, she may have picked up some info on where abouts they were going.. the problem with this tho is that in an episode before reeva literally killed the guy at the end of the tunnel who was taking them to the place that reeva is apparently looking for, why!? So she can kidnap and interrogate a 9yr old who really shouldn’t have that information to give up..
Clearly she just wants obi and is using leia to fish him out, but she's already been berated by her peers for being obi obsessed, so interrogating her, gives another plausible reason for capturing her she can blag the other inquisitors with. We don't really need Disney to spoon feed us every detail. Alot of people complained that reva could read the fake Jedi's mind but not owen's. However it was obvious the fake jedi's mind was weak and owen's strong. Forshadowing nicely for this episode where young leia's mind was too strong to be read.. is this a staring contest 🤣. Really Disney don't need to spell out every tiny detail of the plot for us, that would suck if they did that. Of course it makes it easy for haters to nitpick supposed plot holes and dumb writing.. but I'd prefer that, than them dumbing down the story so that everyone can understand
There's NO REASON Reva would interrogate Leia... None whatsoever.... Sure to plant the tracker, but then why waste MORE time and bring her to the torture device to extract information there's no possible way she'd have.... It's stupidly poor writing... ego over a child? Why would she fucking bother?! Plant the tracker and leave, it's a fucking child who knows nothing...

Yes to me this was the dumbest part of all. It’s like something that would show up in a stupid comedy show. It was so insulting. I thought this was the worst or at least dumbest of the episodes. I’m surprised he didn’t go on more about that, because between that and having a water enclosure that can easily be busted were too of the dumbest things I’ve seen on a TV show in a long time.
What I liked;

Angry Vader bursting into that room ready to snap necks.

Ready to snap necks, but no necks were snapped. I would have settled for a missing hand or throwing her around the room with the Force.
The “lull” stage of grief was exactly my sentiment. This episode was the 1st time I laughed in sheer disbelief as opposed to being vexed and disappointed.

I feel bad for Ewan and Hayden.
They all came back over 20 years later only to be remembered in...this...whatever the hell that is.
Series is not over yet, I know, but really no reason to hope this horrid direction would change any time.

That was the moment that broke me. I couldn’t stop screaming, “who are you?“ at my screen when they were all sulking after they lost him. They bring a character in, just to kill them off mere seconds later and expect me to feel something. Ridiculous.
This scene entered the truly lulz stage for me. In past episodes even when I disliked it I could see what the show was going for... in this case it was clear the makers of the show don't know what they want to have happen 😅
Was this intended to have some impact on the other characters? Was it going to affect the willingness of the rebels to help Obi-wan? Everyone in that universe seemed to forget 10 seconds later, so we might as well do the same 🤷

Pretty sure they just made him smaller and less prominent. But it doesn’t negate the point. When I heard this, it legit pissed me off. Not only because it’s despicable, but the fact that we rightfully criticize Space Moses for horrendous acting(let alone a horribly written character), and get labeled as racist. I swear these people do not hear themselves speak. Criticize Rey, you’re a misogynist. And only a misogynist because she’s white. Whatever is convenient. I thought the casting for the sequels was great. I was excited for those three. 99% of people couldn’t give a shit less about a female lead. AS LONG AS SHE IS RELATABLE AND INHERENTLY FLAWED, AS EVERY SINGLE OTHER HUMAN IS. I’ll just never get over what Disney has done to my most beloved IP in cinema history.

A Kenobi story written in an hour while on a drug fueled script write sounds like it would make a better story then whatever we got here to be honest.
Ben lives in his house on Tatooine, watching over Luke and TRAINING in secret. The two meet and go on ONE OR TWO adventures over the years. Vader is doing Vader shit, personally hunting down Jedi, but he never finds Obi-Wan. We get flashbacks of Anakin and Obi-Wan throughout their time together as Master and Padawan, as they grow into best friends.
Man, that was easy. And I'm kind of high lol. Disney should hire me.
The most tragic thing here is when the hype started to build for this ewan and hayden talked about how the prequels received so much negative criticism that they basically wanted nothing to do with it any more. They talked about how with time passing, fans ( particularly after the recent films) had began to embrace them and the hype of an obi wan story had people treating them with a lot more love and respect.
Now this is happening and ewan and hayden (through no fault of their own) are again a part of something that is spawning hatred and resentment among fans of the franchise.
Before this season had barely started being aired ewan was saying he was up for a season two. I recon after this he will just want to wash his hands of the whole thing...
... Unless he just puts blinkers on and holds out his hand for Disney cash. Which could happen.

Ewan is one of the show producers so he really doesn't get to duck the criticism here.
As a writer myself watching this show has been hell. I've never seen such incompetence and neglect for a property. These continuity issues are getting worse and more prominent.
There's one thing I feel good about. It's good to know that I wasn't the only one thinking "What in the ever loving fuck did I just see!?!?!" while watching Episode 4. After the first episode, I was mildly optimistic. Episode Two brought trepidation. Episode Three was simply, "Where in the hell are they going with this?!?". Perhaps we really are entering the LOL stage of this cluster fuck.
I've been saying, finally a successful attempt at subversion of expectation. You see, I expected a quasi-serious sci-fi space adventure, as I am sure the writers originally intended. However, as the story progresses and gets hilariously worse, it unintentionally becomes rather good satyrical parody of itself, and in this way, I am able to enjoy it on a comedic level. Congratulations Disney, expectations subverted😆

As someone who works in VFX, I can say with authority…those show ran out of time on those snowspeeder shots. Those would never pass QC at the company I work for. Simply terrible.

As for the speeders flying during the Battle of Hoth, I feel like speed was their only chance of survival since slowing down to hover or anything for even a moment would have given the countless walkers variants on the field an easy kill...

3:43 even Rebels, an animated cartoon, gets it right with Leia. There’s a few suspicious moments with her but it’s never so obvious that she’s guilty of conspiring with the Rebellion because the Empire has no proof. In here, they are flagrantly collaborating with a Jedi. Yet Bail Organa hasn’t been removed from the Senate and/or arrested. It already makes no sense from the get go.

I think there are plenty of competent guys that point out all these flaws. The thing with Mauler, who I also enjoy shitting on this crappy content is that it's not that accessible. He does put in a tremendous amount of work into editing and scripting, but the content is long. I like that, but many do not. Also that means it takes much more time to make, so release time is longer.
And he has his podcast which now houses a lot of the reviews which takes time away from working on his video content.
And even I struggle to watch 8 hours of a podcast for the specific time where they talk about a certain topic. There you have to wait for the edited EFAP minis, otherwise it becomes hard to digest even for a longman fan.
Something I have to bring up about the snowspeeders, is that when its blasterbolts hit anything, the ground/stormtroopers/anything around is exploding and throwing troopers around, so it is hitting with significant force. Inquisitor lady deflects them with ease, and they just hit the ground around her with no effect whatsoever. So she's so physically strong she can deflect that energy, or they kind of forgot about it. Its the same reason why you don't see Luke deflect tie fighter shots or at-ats or anything else
I love how they show them flying straight into the hanger wall, then just cut away and dont show them again till later from outside. NO WAY they could stop in time let alone, Turn Around and fly back out that fast

Star Wars is held very dear by many - most of us grew up with it. This production has shown to be the most half-assed and careless series thus far, I feel like the fandom is legit owed an apology. Its insultingly bad. Bottom of the barrel.

Can we also talk about how UGLY these Disney SW shows have become? When you intercut the feature films with the footage from Obi-Wan, it just makes it even more obvious how grey and sickeningly muddy the photography and visual design is on the Obi-Wan series. The same thing was there on most episodes of Boba Fett (except for the one shot by the legendary Dean Cundey). The Mandolorian looked WAY better, so "it's TV" isn't a valid excuse. What are they doing? Why is this acceptable on a series with such a huge budget?
Yeah there's absolutely no care that's gone into the visuals of this show, every single scene feels like it was filmed in the volume which really doesn't do the show any favours
also the lightsabers don't look like lightsabers. they light up a room like a flashlight, if you look at actual star wars sabers only light up a few inches maybe a foot kinda area of light. these sabers light up way too much. also they look like 3d toy sabers with homemade special effects.

As someone who served in the military, the officer addressing Tala as "sir" was the last straw for me.
As someone who hasn't served - even I happen to know that merely being a superior officer (NOT commanding officer as the episode dialogue) - does not grant access to restricted areas.
I had severe issues with Obi Wan being dressed up as an Imperial officer with a FULL FRIGGEN BEARD
The first episode of this analysis series I saw of yours was covering the third episode of the Kenobi series. You said word for word exactly what my mindset has been seeing this dumpster fire of a series unfold. Disney has been ushering in the new generation of “ fans “ who protect Disney’s every stupid decision and attack anyone who has valid criticism against this series and it’s characters. It’s sad to see the direction where star wars and everything else is heading under the Disney Regime in this era of political correctness. Sad.

And sadly, the people who keep hoping for things to get better enable that. Sometimes you shut your wallet because you care. Criticism as quality control mindset.
If fans are unsatisfied, then Disney should step up, not have the directors, writers or actors fight back. The fans are indirectly but also directly part of the production of the shows, since they're the paying customers and who theyre appealing to, demographic.

I knew the writers was lazy but them ripping of the game so much was new to me. Disney is creatively bankrupt. Not only is the love of good storytelling gone, the love of creative camerawork, editing and music score is gone. There is no love of the art left at Disney. But the lulz a great.
The problem Disney has with storwars is they think it's about the force when it's about the story. The OT has little going on in regards of the force and when they do it's heavily emphasize as unique and mystical. It's a reason Mando is so good. Disney otherwise has treated the force like a bicycle that you never forget how to ride and can do anything. It's not mystical anymore it's just a cheat code for ridiculous cinematography.
That's exactly the case - especially with the sequel trilogy. Disney thought the story was about Jedi and X Wings, but that was just the setting; it was about Han, Luke, and Leia. Just like Jurassic Park: it's not about dinosaurs, it's about Grant and Ellie and their relationship (which the latter movies retconned) and his arc from not wanting kids to wanting kids. *Vin Diesel voice* It's about family.
Wait till Season 3 - I bet the quality will drop to that of BOBF and this show.

The worst thing about the tracker isn’t even mentioned here: it makes absolutely no sense to put it there in the first place.
They have a 10 year old imprisoned in the bloody fortress inquisitiory, which should be about the safest place in the universe.
Last time Reva is in contact with Leia or her Droid there is zero hint at an infiltration (unlike the Death Star situation where they found an empty ship, Vader sensed „a presence“ and a shootout in the prison area), so why would she assume that 10 year old could escape?
The only reason she could have for her „act of genius“ is the same she must have had to abduct Leia in the first place: having read the screenplay or used that video service from spaceballs.
I was liking the show until episode 4. I was like "not another fucking imperial infiltration episode" every Disney show has this gimmick. The whole Bad Batch show is entirely made of infiltration scenes.
How did they make fortress inquisitorias look worse than in a video game useing a basic colour scheme to communicate it’s evilness.

Undeniably bad writing, but the director isn't helping. Elaria sitting in a room full of bad guys helping Obi-wan without even keeping her voice down. Plus the camera keeps pulling back to show us there are a bunch of people in ear-shot. Like, just make it a bigger room, or fewer bad guys or something. But no, the director keeps talking badly written scenes and making them worse! If only they had communicators that aren't handheld or at least had a volume knob built-in. But wait! They do! Because they were using one when Obi-wan was swimming in!

Brilliant review with excellent points. The T-47 air/snow speeder can be modified like combat aircraft today can be multi-role such as strike, interceptor, reconnaissance etc (remove the harpoon and tow cable and there is room for another modular addition like extra seating). It's main propulsion is "repulsorlift" - a type of "anti-gravity" hence no prominent glowing engines at the rear like an x-wing and many other space capable fighters (Speeders typically cannot fly in space). Air speeders are in the same category as other repulsorlift craft such as speeder bikes, Jabba's sail barge, swoops etc. The main difference is their top speed and service ceiling (max altitude). This allows repulsorlift craft to hover in place like a helicopter would in our world, making them excellent close air support. Remember this for Obi Wan Episode 5. I will say again you have done a superb review and I agree with your points despite these technical observations.

As far as I know, baby Leia was 8 during recording, but she looks 7. I'll never buy that this character is 10, especially with the dialogue sounding like it's coming from a 30 year old. They can call her 10 all they want. You are how you look and sound, and neither of those is 10. Her writing is extremely jarring and ruins the character for me.
And my god this is Saturday morning cartoon crap.

Why would Reva/Space Moses expect that Leia would be taken to "The Path" and not home to her family on Alderaan? So why plant the tracker on her droid?
And wouldn't she need to have placed the tracker before she knew there was a rescue attempt happening?

My theory is that he didn't actually cut himself off from the force, but is just having difficulty with it. Similarly to how Cal was having difficulty with it as a metaphor for his inability to open up emotionally.
But Disney probably doesn't care about the deeper meaning of Cal's or Obi Wan's struggle, and did it for cheap stakes.

You don't have to be strong in the force to resist jedi mind tricks. One example of this is when Cad Bane is being interrogated in the Clone Wars TV show. It takes Kenobi, Wind, and Anikin to mess him up, (and I don't really remember here, but I think) Cad Bane was just in a lot of pain, and cracked under the torture.
The fact that Vader didn’t walk into the room and immediately choke Reva to death and throw her against the wall after she let Obi Wan and Leia waddle their way through the base shows just how much the writers don’t understand the characters they are writing about.
Vader has done far worse for far less.

I'm in the acceptance stage. This is Star Wars now. We have more bad Star Wars than good. I just keep my original, unaltered trilogy on my watching regimine to this day and its kept me happy. Its all I need. Disney and Twitter can have Star Wars, I dont need to anymore.

Leia is also implied to know of Kenobi but not actually met him in new hope. As she introduces herself on behalf of her father, “Years ago you served my father in the clone war, now HE begs you to help HIM in HIS struggle against the empire.”
This show dosen’t really have a good way to be told without breaking the continuity. Can’t do anything with young Luke cuz he’s never been off the farm and immediate area of Tatooine, can’t do anything with Leia cuz she’s never met Kenobi, as much as we all wanted to see what adventures Obi-Wan went on during the time between 3 and 4 the painful truth is…..he didn’t have any! He stayed on Tatooine keeping watch over Luke, passing himself off as an old desert hermit
Which is why there was no reason for this show. As much as people wanted a Vader and Obi-Wan showdown, there was none until episode 4. Creating this show breaks continuity and creates cracks and inconsistencies with the prequels and original trilogy. Kenobi basically watched over Luke and communed with Quigon, that's it during this period. It's partly the fans fault for wanting a show about Obi-Wan after order 66 and foolishly believing that Disney would actually create a good show without pushing their agenda....SMH!!!
There was a book in 2014 by John Jackson Miller called "Star Wars: Kenobi" that picked up with Kenobi on Tatooine, and it was pretty good. There was potential to develop his character there on Tatooine, but Disney has failed miserably.
If they wanted to do Leia being kidnapped, it should have been by Cad Bane (on behalf of Palpatine) and a plot to discredit him and get him out of the senate. Then Kenobi comes to help, in disguise as a bounty hunter (and throw in some TCW flashbacks and conversations with Qui-Gon, while Vader is hunting other Jedi). But even then, kidnapping Leia is too much like capturing Leia in ANH.
They could have made a story about Tatooine and learning from Qui-Gon, but they wasted the potential by having (dull) desert nostalgia in Jakku, Pasana and Tatooine in the sequels, and BoBF. Kenobi was the one show that should have been set there. But again, they could have had him using an alias and disguise. They could have had him meet Luke and teach him something (while not making it obviously about the Force, just some general wisdom that ties into the saga, but doesn't seem weird).
They could have given him a reason to go off world and commune with Qui-Gon, on a planet strong in the Force and explore the lore. But they don't have any good ideas on how to do that. They just want nostalgia and something in the trailers that looks like what casual fans remember about the saga; deserts, Jedi robes, Vader etc.
The problem of course is that they weren't interested in what Kenobi could have done. They were just interested in making a Leia & Kenobi story, where Leia is smarter than he is. And presumably Reva (the real star) is going to have more far reaching impact on the saga overall i.e. X only happened because Reva did X with/for X
