Great vlog Andy…looks cracking up Abbey brook👌🏻 I was there this Saturday but bailed 🙈… walked up from the back of ladybower inn hoping for something round salt cellar dovestones tor… it was rammed everywhere 🙈🙈 wheelstones had 4 tents round it & I counted 10 youths being a bit full on🙄, salt cellar had 8 photographers all with tripods up and I could see 2 tents at dovestones tor🙄🙄 nightmare!😂..this was about 8:30pm, r lass wasn’t best pleased about going back down but hey ho..lesson learned on these kind of popular spots. Thanks for sharing,stay safe👌🏻👍🏻
Brilliant video, the new teachings from the MTA is that we should take everything off the Hill (which I whole heartedly support). If you need a number 2 you should squat and smear the faeces. All paper and consumables must be disposed of at home. This is to reduce the impact on the environment and by smearing faeces speeds up the process of the faeces either being washed away or eaten by animals or the environment.

Have a look into water at a much deeper level Andy because there is a lot of fascinating and very interesting things to learn because you are not doing yourself any favours by filtering good quality water. If you strip water of its mineral content then water will strip you of yours ...Pure water that has been stripped of all its mineral properties will demineralise your body. I bought one of the First ever Tucker Pole systems that came into the Uk in the late 90s for cleaning high level windows using a telescopic pole . The filtration process before the water is fed through the pole leaves the water hungry to gather content and thats the reason that it cleans dirty windows and leaves a streak free finish because it becomes very aggressive.....Remember what Bruce Lee said "Become Water "...etc I have only used a filter the past couple of years when its been obviously cloudy and not as free running . We are all taught to fear water but if we are drinking it from plastic bottles and consuming BPAs and filtering all the minerals out of it then the only people who are gaining any benefits are the people we turn to wen our bodies are buggered up ....Get it down your neck lad :)
in some depth there olan..id rather filter in peaks though what with sheep drinking from streams etc & god knows what else could be in there...different when collecting from springs would probs be ok but id rather be on safe side..
Just to say Andy, that trident-type symbol (Neptune? Poseidon????) It is remarkably similar to that symbol seen in some of the earliest European cave paintings, that German post-punk/industrial music band Einzestende Neubauten used to have as their emblem on their albums. A bit of a tenuous link but I find it fascinating. I love it that you cover the history up there. Thinking of people from over 2 centuries ago out there enjoying the peaks. I wonder what they’d make of all our doings, with our trailstars n such? Lol😮 Brilliant!🤠👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
its been a hot topic on twitter with several of the folk i talk to that are well educated in the peak district & no one is certain just exactly what it stands for..the educated guess is a stone masons mark as theyre usually seen where the benchmarks are.

Personally I like the golden colours of October when the temperatures are lower and colours so vivid. Walking in 4-6 degrees is always better than slogging up hill in the high 20s.
What a stunning place, added this area to my list! My tent was full of condensation that night and I didn’t notice any wind it was eerily calm for Kinder Scout. I was camped near Kinder low and the cloud was mesmerising, fast moving, got some nice footage myself. I am too addicted to this heather bloom, it’s never looked so good!
Brilliant route up, not been up Abbey Brook Yet but will certainly give that route a look, stunning area. Reminds me that Crow Stones Edge is due another visit too. Derwent Edge round to the Howden Moors is a cracking area 👍
Camped here last year and could not leave the tent due to midges which was a shame but its a beautiful spot out of the way of the crowds, I didn't see a single person. Love the vid Andy!

Yep Silwing had some condensation on that morning, got it out for a dry over lunchtime though and it was bone dry in minutes in that sun. I forgot to put sponge in pack, every time I forget summat 🤦♂️last time it was my mug 😂
It's not necessarily condensation from a persons body heat that wets tents by morning. In summer it's more usually dew, which is why the grass is wet on a morning, where warmer morning air meets cold surfaces. Ya learn summat new every day.
Aye, if condensation can physically happen it will. No getting away from it. Surprises me sometimes when I see/hear people who seem to have been camping a lot say double-wall tents *prevent* condensation, as if it's the same as double-glazing.
you cant deny physics..if the conditions are right condensation will happen no matter what tent you have..beats me when i hear folk saying they have this or that tent & it doesnt suffer with condensation..
I want to do more camping around ladybower but always wonder where to park overnight to be safe. Are fairholmes or the other smaller carparks around there safe to leave a car overnight? I think I originally read a couple of years ago it wasn't which has stuck with me.
i dont park in any of the layby's i use the car park across from the ladybower inn its £10 for 24 hour & is camered up..always been safe there & if you have a meal in the pub they discount the parking.
Went for a swim at slippery stones last Wednesday after coming down of grinner stones. That area this time of year is something else. Very interesting bit of history as well that about the family who once owned that area.

Did a similar route Sunday but took the turning up to Lost Lad and Back Tour. Heather was absolutely fantastic. Great video and spot to camp 👍

me too my favourite season winter..much prefer the colder temps to walk & camp in than being red hot & sweaty..

yeah its reason ive not done it yet the best way to it...probably better to approach from wet stones at the top end..
