Textbook waza. I've struggled with this style in the past. The less technical variation where the hands are more similar to how you use your arms in uchimata have been easier for beginning judoka to develop in my experience.
Kano's own book Kodokan Judo shows the version your talking about as the standard textbook version. This one in the video and the sleeve version are the variants.
Update: I found a way to do it! You gotta push the head to the side with your collar hand as you enter to keep your shoulder in good alignment. Still don’t see this working in randori, but at least I can do it in nage no kata!
@@jedijudoka You might try and step slightly to your uke's side with your front leg (If you're doing a migi grip, then step to the left) before turning. Gives you a lot more room. It's helped me a lot, especially because I'm the tallest in our club and really struggled with this technique before. Also consider that this is meant to be used when uke pushes their hips and belly forward to block a normal hip throw, like a harai goshi, and you move underneath that hip for your own throw.
Thanks for all the camera angles!
This technique was designed to throw an armoured samurai, that is why the throwing partner goes much lower under the hip.
More likely as a save for another failed move
Cuz in judo you fight over the centre of mass
Amazing! Arigato Sensei
This is kata version in the kodokan book there is another for randori

In addition to being a lot more useful, realistically, than the more stilted textbook version...

the sode version for me is easier idk why
@@Gabriel_Manolov because it’s way easier lol. I can do sode all day, but struggle so hard to do an ugly normal one.
