    I went to the "Open Day" in LA 5 weeks ago. over 200 applicants showed up. The Recruiters narrowed it down to 30 on the 2nd day. Then through out the day they shaved it down to the Top 13 applicants. After the 3rd day and a hour interview, we were all told we would either get the "GOLDEN CALL' or a rejection email in 4-6 weeks. after 3 weeks I GOT THE CALL! I leave for Dubai May 8th! (just got 4 vaccine shots today! ouchy) I CAN NOT WAIT TO TRAVEL & EXPERIENCE THE WORLD WITH EMIRATES :)

    Hi. I had my very first open day interview on Saturday. We were about 500 people here in Argentina, all dressed up formally. I was really nervous about it since it was my first time; on the queue, there was people who had been there twice or thrice. Somehow I passed the open day and I was called for Assessment Day last Tuesday.
    Now we were 80 people only from about 1000. I passed and now I am going for final interview on Friday. Wish me luck!

    Missed the years I had with EK. Started when the briefing centre was made up of 20ft containers. The friends I had made who were very much a family away from home & still are. With EK, I grew to be an independent & confident woman that I am now. To those who are still with EK, soldier on. No company treats their staff as well as EK does. To those embarking on their EK journey, the opportunities in EK are what you make of them. All the best!

    Anyone who says that people who want to be flight attendant are losers... Well we get to see the world for free! We are not stuck in a dead end job, 9-5 staring at the same 4 walls doing the same thing day in day out. We are living our lives. I'm going to be in Japan on Sunday, Kenya next week and LA the week after... Where are you going to be?!?! Plus in this industry there are plenty of ways to progress! You have no idea! Companies like this are massive and have so many different roles not just cabin crew. I'd like to see you pass all the exams and do the most intense training course. Plus we are there primarily for your safety, you'll soon be looking at us for help if anything goes wrong!

      This is probably going to sound almost self absorbed but how much are you paid?

    • @NicolasDykmansable
      @NicolasDykmansable 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      HolzAnn : No, obviously you are not losers because you are FA, and yes, you are primarily there for the safety. But on the other hand, try to be honest with yourself : no you don't see the world ! You don't have time at all between two flights to really visit a town, just go for a quick sightseeing tour and then go back to hotel to rest before the next flight. Moreover, it's just the town where you land ( and some of them are not especially great !), not the country itself. Have a look on the net to the pics of your destinations and it provides you the same as when you "flashtravel" as you do. Glorious days, with long stay worldwide between two flights, and considered as an icon, not just as a waiter, have gone for long, unfortunately !

    • @volleyballfan2
      @volleyballfan2 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nicolas Dykmans It depends on what flight you take. If you go from like Dubai to Kuwait, yea, you aren't going to have much time, but you get a lot of time since it's a short flight. But going from Dubai to Los Angeles, passing all those time zones and taking that long flight, they can't give you 24 hours layover. That's pretty much suicide. They vary days, just like all flights, whether it be 1 day or 3 days. It just depends on the flight. If you take under a 10 hour flight, im sure you get 1 day, but if you go over 10 hours, im sure they give you 2-3 days to rest up.

    • @mircat28
      @mircat28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're arrogance is really not acceptable. You are bad mouthing everyone else who has s regular job and is not a FA! Most of your passengers have a job where they will be in the same job every week. So you just slammed all your passengers. Rude!

    Anyone who thinks this resembles slavery is anyway is blinded. They are there to serve us, not be our personal servants. There is a difference. They are there for safety of us. I pay a lot to fly and I expect that if I have an emergency onboard I want someone who is trained to handle it. Everyone thinks being Cabin Crew is an easy job, all you have to do is give them food and drinks, but it's so much more than that. They get so many benefits of being cabin crew, but here in America, I doubt we get that many benefits. They can be flight attendants until they drop dead if they want to, but flying is extremely demanding on the body, which is why many of them do settle down after many years and that's why we see all the young faces. People just think that the flight attendant is their servant to cater to their every whim and expect everything. But honestly, saying please and thank you go a long way, especially for being in the customer service industry. Even if they just give me a simple diet coke because of being in first class I still say thank you, and they really do appreciate people like that because most people don't know how much they do behind the scenes, the long hours they work on their feet, and how tiring and exhausting it is to be a flight attendant.

    Hi Quad:
    The Assessment Day was rough: there was eighty people selected out of thousands who went to the open day. It was exhausting, we had like 5 stages where you were told "successful" or "unsuccessful". You were put in groups of five or six people and then you all were given a situation where you had to organise and reach a decision altogether; then the recruiters would ask you why have you come to that decision. After passing all the stages, you are told to come for a final interview.

    Say what you will about Emirates, but one thing that fascinates me about it and I think largely explains its success is that it is a truly global company like no other. More than that, it perfectly and fully understood the concept of "global," embraced it and thrived on it. Emirates is the face of planet Earth in the 21st century and so are its multinational and multiethnic crew members.

    whats the maximum age that people can be a flight attendant I have flown emirates a lot and have just seen young people, I find this exploitive as I have flown other airlines and the older hostesses can sometimes be better

    • @velhotytto1
      @velhotytto1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theafricanlakekayak I don't know, so this is just speculation, but I don't think there is as much a age limit, more like a health limit, but most people probably do it only for a part of their life, because the scedules aren't for a family life which most people eventually want. So majority of people probably quit before they get old so you only see young people

      +Bianca Rye nope, it's really sad, but you actually have to be good looking to join :(

    • @paulitza9
      @paulitza9 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Bianca Rye ... Because it is not just if you have the ability to serve, but sex appeal has a great deal of influences (don't you know?) no matter where you go ... but in a position like this, prerequisites are: to be attractive and convey a certain amount of Karisma to the many wealthy people that travel to and fro ...; these people judge the rest of the peoples around them from a certain perspective...; then you must have the aptitude to be alluring but still keep your distance (unless instructed before flight to do otherwise)... ; then you must have good health because you are nothing more than a nurse-aid to a lot of people...; then you must be tolerant to a diverse religious philosophy...; and the aptitude to speaking several languages, e.g., French, English, German etc. All this is just an approximate assessment of the things you should be suitable for ... then listen and watch the video ... above

    • @TravelwithPavel
      @TravelwithPavel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bianca Rye No because they have best looking planes, so they want only good looking people which is great, since in US you don't see any pretty crew members anymore.

    • @ceresanaseline
      @ceresanaseline 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Actually, I expected them to be highly attractive, but (from what I see in the video), some of them are not even very good-looking lol.

    when i was little which was a very long time ago ... i always from the time i could talk was going to be back then an "air hostess" .... but at that time i was too short as the airlines had height limits.... i was just devastated to say the least and i have had those feelings up to and including today as i speak... and to be honest ... i cry each time i think about how my life would have ended up if i were in the skies... good on you for those who have been successful...

    If you want to do ANYTHING in the aviation industry is: Get 150 thousand pounds/dollars and get a PPL (Private Pilot's License) At about 30 thousand Pounds/Dollars and then use 100 thousand to get trained to be a pilot for an airline
    Pros:
    High Pay (Around £10,000 a month) if you do a mix of Long,Medium and short haul flights (It's the hours that count not the number of flights)
    Same destinations:
    You still get served by Cabin Crew
    Cons:
    You are screwed if you fail
    Requirements (for most airlines):
    6 GSCEs
