I mean all the years before when he didn't help with his own kids' gifts were pretty shitty anyway, so I think we know what kind of husband and father he is
Absolutely, I recently got out of a 4 yr emotionally abusive relationship, luckily not married and without kids, and my bf would treat me this way.. the thought of putting up with that for 14+ years and having kids with the person literally makes me shutter. I take a deep breath and feel so relieved and so happy I’m not in the situation anymore although I deal with his harassment and stalking to this day 😔 just left the tire shop now replacing all 4 that were slashed a second time. I never want to speak to anyone ever again, me and just me for the rest of my life will be absolutely blissful and amazing. Feeling prisoner to someone is awful. I just can’t wait to leave this state and finally be free for real and back with my family :/
For the negligent Dad and Husband - his wife is literally an ER nurse and he works in Marketing. Don’t get me wrong, Marketing is stressful, I work in Marketing, but she definitely has the more stressful job. Her husband is a loser and I hope she returned all his gifts.

For the wedding story, I was thinking that when she backed out and the groom got the full story, he canceled the wedding because of how bridezilla his fiancé was being
Ok but the 'financial support man' story... He said she was at home and organised the home stuff because she didnt have a job but literally she was studying to be in the medical field??
Also sounded like the maid was to come out of her money, not their money.
I understood it was that she hadn’t been working while she was getting her degree, and therefore had time to do the house work, and then once she had gotten her degree and found full time work, she couldn’t keep up with the housekeeping that she’d formerly had the time to do when she had been studying (I don’t know where he was in all of this, I’m trusting that he has all along been busy enough that he is not able to even partially take on house work now that she’s working full time).
I think it was a perfectly reasonable suggestion, if they can afford it and clearly need it given their busy schedules, why not enlist a professional cleaning service? The snag was that the suggestion of enlisting a cleaning service was interpreted as criticism of her housekeeping rather than as a practical solution to balancing both of their busy work schedules.
When I was old enough to do my own Christmas shopping and before my step dad finally realized he should be doing it, I used to go out and make sure I had at least a few nice things for my mom's stocking. It was something inexpensive and easy for me, as I know well what she likes. For her, however, it was very meaningful. I look back now, and I'm so glad I made her feel appreciated. Good moms deserve so much more than they get.

For the bridesmaid with eczema, i looked up the post and somebody asked how the cancelled wedding was her fault. This was OP's response:

Bridezilla seems like the type that wasn't having the wedding to celebrate her love with her fiancé and loved ones. She wanted that perfect Insta moment to show off on her socials.
For the woman with the stocking. Take back everything you got for your husband. And when his stocking is empty on Christmas Day tell him he’s and adult and it’s ridiculous for him to expect you to fill it up for him. 😡

Same! I wanted to see the comments of the stocking stuffers story! I googled but couldnt find the post, i wish they would say the titles of the the posts they are reading
So my mom never made my dad a stocking growing up so it was just the kids that got stockings until we were adults. My sisters and I bought them stockings and started filling them, and now both mom and dad buy each other stocking stuffers. I feel like that’s at least somewhat more equitable than what that poor mom has to deal with. Her husband is a douchecanoe
Hearing about Stocking Mom makes me super grateful for my parents. There have been a couple of times my dad didn't have a stocking because he cares about giving to everybody else. He goes shopping and cooks for the holidays and works really hard in and out of the house. 😊
To the person with the tattoo, have a frank conversation and say what you feel. I had a few before my family found out about it and the last one I got I told my gran before getting it. She's from a different time and thinks it not very ladylike and opposes it very strongly, back in the day people with tattoos are only related to street gangs. I told her I already paid the deposit and I'm just giving her the courtesy by informing her this time round. She was not pleased and she was still not pleased when I returned with a shoulder piece, it's about 20cm. I asked if she liked it which she obviously said no, then I told her this tattoo is of a plant called Ivy. My aunt passed away a few years back and her name was Ivy, she still wasn't pleased with it but she did ask for a second look after I told her. I think that conversation really helped smooth things over and helped her understand that tattoos isn't all bad as they have it in their heads.

For the story about the tattoo, I would find it interesting if the mom's reason for not liking the tattoo is about her image as a good parent to others but disregarding her own daughter's POV on how she thinks about her treatment to her. But the other factor that I'm curious about is whatever the design of the tattoo is or if having a tattoo is not good for her health? 🤔
I'm 36 and I do a stocking for my mom every single year. She puts into so much effort doing one for everyone in the family, so she 100% deserves one ❤

The girl with the tattoo. Sounds like a whole lot of “it’s not your problem”🤷🏻♀️. It’s your body, your money. You do you and focus on your goals and aspirations and in time I guarantee your mom will not care as much. Think of it this way. Maybe this needed to happen for your mom to break from this toxic cycle of comparing her family to others.

I work in a children's store in western Canada. My boss drives to the US border just to get Tonies for our store since it isn't available for us to get here. They are awesome!! Becky and Keith could make some amazing "Creatives". You can record your own things on them through the app. You can sing, read stories or whatever you want. I love the idea of relatives who live far away recording something.

the stocking stuffing one stressed me out... i know gift giving is not everyones live language, but that was so not the point. growing up my father was bad at picking gifts because he's an acts of service person, but he still made an effort in the gift giving, when i git old enough to help i started helping him choose & he is happy fir the help but certainly not because he didnt cared to do it himself but just relieved after some embarassing gift opening moments when he used to do it by himself.
my dad always gets my mom stocking stuffers on top of thoughtful gifts. he’s a 68 year old conservative and has never thought twice about it

My eczema has been so bad this year and everyone I’ve spoken to has said the same! I actually started red light therapy, and it did help with my eczema. However I have started to also mix castor oil and oil of oregano and putting that on my hands and wearing gloves at night and that has actually helped my eczema more than any steroid cream or shot has ever helped!

The yitties lady is definitely not the asshole. But i think one line that got missed was that sister was upset she did it in front of her husband. Which to me just SCREAMS insecurities going on in her sister's marriage. Like girl, if your husband reacts to his sister-in-law's body ... that's on him, not your sister.
Part of me thinks this and then part of me, coming from and surrounded by toxic dynamics, knows a few sisters who would deliberately go looking for their in laws attention 😬 I’m sure had there not been additional people she would have felt more liberated the whole thing wouldn’t have been such a thing.

Mom needs to get over himself- Once my Granny (favorite person, I was the person with her towards the end) randomly called my mom out for being a bad parent because of my tattoos, so I called her out to her face and to never say it again, that it was my choices and it was even a memorial piece for someone close to me.

No wait this is for Maggie. My Eczema has been so horrible this year and also it has been the worse on my eyes. Which I’ve had eczema from birth and this year is the first years I’ve had it on my eyes and I’m in my late 20’s.

@@mckinneypassios4273, I guess that would depend on the where's and what's of the culture. Many cultures have the men staying out of such things. It's very common that "moms handle daughters, men handle sons," and this could easily be the case here.

Several indigenous or First Nations cultures have thousands of years of history behind face tattoos, as an indication of maturing and becoming an adult
