/ @ajrestoration Good day Ladies and Gentlemen. This Cast Iron casserole/Dutch Oven is relatively new but was found at the local scrap metal dealer. I thought it the perfect opportunity to try my hand at removing rust with Molasses.
I had a few viewers suggest I should try to restore cast Iron with Molasses, so here is my two-week experiment.
I hope you enjoy the video.
If you have any suggestions for improvement, or compliments share them below!

another method that works, sand for grit, white vinegar (wear gloves) and a sponge. get rid of the rust but not the years of seasoning.

Removing rust that way is as grandma used to say, slower than molasses in January! She probably had a sandblaster hidden in the barn ☺️ Seems to be honeybee approved anyway 🐝 That noodle dish sure looked good, all the more tasty from the nicely seasoned dutch oven.

THANK YOU for your restoration videos. i enjoy watching them all.
    here are some tips:
    1. for an iron pan, remember the chinese saying "hot pan, cold oil, foods wont stick" (it rhymes in chinese... heat the pan until just smoking, then add oil & swirl it around.
    2. once the oil is heated until just beginning to smoke, add the meat, and quickly spread it out so it's not piled on top of itself, which would lead to steaming... let it cook for about two minutes before trying to move it. that way it builds a nice crust and will release from the pan. this is especially important with ground beef.

it takes a long time, but it keeps removing rust the longer it's left in it. the benefit is more for large items like car frames because feed grade molasses is much, much cheaper than evoporust or other chemicals; you can make a huge vat of the stuff to dip something in for cheap
