    We had tickets for the U.S. tour in 2020... after two years finally saw them this past September (pit, or Feuerzone respectively). Worth every damn penny. And honestly, I myself wondered if this was a "goodbye" song, but fortunately, they have come out to say it isn't. So hoping to expect more from them in the future. Definitely though go see them live when you can. You will not be disappointed at all! Side note.. we went back to France this past December and toured/filmed some of the Opera House where this was filmed Stunning location to say the least.

    I've read that Rammstein was asked whether this is a goodbye of the band and they answered that this is not their intention and they don't have plans to end up with their music. The whole album - which has a kind of melancholic touch (even in the funny tracks) - was made under the impression of personal losses of the band members. In this context, lyric-wise "Adieu" looks to me as the feeling of a lost fight against death ... not of the own death, but of loved ones ... and to finally accept that there is nothing to stop it. A kind of sad acceptance of the inevitable.
    Video-wise they are referencing to the time when they had produced their album "Mutter" and almost parted and had to reinvend themselves - which they did fortunately.

    This is pure art ❤️ when I first saw this I was crying so much that I really didn't concentrate too much on the details of the video but then i rewatched it and i noticed there are parts of other Rammstein videos in this video..I saw Mutter, Ich Will, Любимый Город (beloved town), Mein Herz Brennt, Zeit and Deutschland. I'm pretty sure there's more but that's what I noticed. They are saying goodbye to themselves or to the old Rammstein? Im not sure but I think in the video their intentions were to kill themselves and reinvent themselves to leave the old Rammstein behind and make room for the new Rammstein but in the beginning of the video you see flake on the laptop and they are right outside the big vaulted door that says Mutter and Flake is trying to get it open and you see it open and they continue to go in... but then at the very end it shows them all dead laying outside of the big Mutter door and Flakes laptop is still running which means that they never made it inside and even though they tried to kill their past selves and thier past/old Rammstein they did not succeed. I think a lot of old groups get to a point where they start to change to try and stay current because they are told that they are too old or that their style is old etc. And some bands change and bow down to the pressure and for some it works but most of the time it fails and they lose themselves and begin to fade away and I think that Rammstein had that experience but decided not to change or comply with the external pressure of people telling them to change...to me it shows that whatever they decide to do or whatever they decide to change it's because they themselves wanted to make the changes and not because of being pressured by society. Only Rammstein themselves will decide when and how to say goodbye....

    😔GOODBYE😕
    Only death lasts forever
    He whispers under the pine branch
    Must draw everything into its darkness
    Even the sun will burn out
    But don't worry, we are with you
    One last time, so we sing
    Goodbye, goodbye, see you again
    You have to go the last way alone
    One last song, one last kiss
    No miracle will happen
    Goodbye, goodbye, see you again
    The time with you was beautiful
    From life you rise quietly
    The soul goes on a quiet journey
    Flesh perishes, spirit will rise
    Being will surrender to death
    Yes
    In the end you are all alone
    But we will be with you
    Goodbye, goodbye, see you again
    You have to go the last way alone
    One last song, one last kiss
    No miracle will happen
    Goodbye, goodbye, see you again
    The time with you was beautiful
    Everyone dies alone
    All alone
    But you will always be with us
    Goodbye, goodbye, see you again
    You have to go the last way alone
    One last song, one last kiss
    No miracle will happen
    Goodbye, goodbye, see you again
    The time with you was beautiful

    At first some important references in the video for interpretation:
    -References to religion are present throughout the video. The costumes that the band wears, the purification by fire, the scene where the band flies away in a whirlwind;
    -The scene where Till passes his head outside the truck resembles one of the scenes of "Batman: The Dark Knight". Paul has a "Joker" badge on his jacket;
    -The truck's plate reads "LI FAD 6", a reference to Rammstein's sixth album;
    -The guard passing through the window has a "Universal Music" badge. The entrance to the Opera House (Opéra Garnier Paris) also says "Universal";
    -The fight scene has several "Matrix" references;
    -It is written "Mutter 22" next to the armored door of the chambers room. Flake's computer program looks like the artwork from the Mutter album;
    -The busts used on the artwork of Video 1995-2012 are visible on the screens next to the caissons;
    -On the gas can, a flower can be seen like on the album Herzeleid;
    -The scene where the band floats in the sky is a reference to the movie "The Immortals";
    -The red lasers (time beam) are of course the same as the ones in the video Deutschland
    -Flake's (Keyboarder) notebook seems to contain his secret thoughts that no one should know, because he rips the notes out of the notebook and eats them. In one interpretation, the secret thoughts revolve around either Rammstein's music, which Flake often found too simple at the beginning of Rammstein, which is why he couldn't really identify with Rammstein at the beginning, and in the other interpretation, the announcement of the end of Rammstein , the exact date is still secret.
    At the beginning, the band sits heavily armed in a troop transport as a kind of special task force and drives through a city at night while Till Lindemann sticks his head out of the window - just like the Joker in the DC film "Batman: The Dark Knight". The goal seems to be a red cone of light (time beam) that shines out of an opera house into the cloudy sky. (The opera represents “Universal Music”) The many Christian symbols that the viewer can discover in the car are striking in the first few seconds: a crucifix on the mirror, a Bible from which one page is torn, crosses as tattoos on the faces of the band members. A nod to the religious worship of rock stars and the great expectations of the band , which has always been very distressing for Rammstein. They celebrate the last supper - with cigarettes and liquor from a hip flask, similar to how Rammstein always does before they start a concert. The van stops, the band storms into the Opera/Church/Cathedral which is the powerful headquarters of Universal Music, to which Rammstein is contracted, while the car's license plate clearly reads "Lifad 6" - an acronym for the sixth Rammstein album "Love is for everyone" (Album „Liebe ist für alle da“).
    A wild shootout begins. The band fights their way to a heavy metal door marked "Mutter-22". This is also a reference to an earlier album of the same name. In addition, the band obviously wears their style of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Till Lindemann, with black make-up and a mohawk, guitarist Richard Kruspe with jet-black hair that hangs in his face.
    As the band members enter the room, they find their own bodies preserved in cryochambers. They mourn briefly and set the room on fire, apparently an older version of themselves. Her appearance is strongly reminiscent of the cover of "Mother".
    The time around this album "Mutter" seems to have been central for the further career of the band. In several documentaries, the musicians stated that they almost broke up during this phase. The USA tour at that time was canceled - allegedly for health reasons. The main reason for the dispute was the different ideas of how one wanted to develop artistically. At that time, Till shot the video for the song “Mutter” (Mother) alone without the other band members. The band was about to break up and started doing therapy sessions together.
    It also fits this picture that the band in the video for "Adieu" finds itself in a cage in the form of a Rammstein logo, similar to Till Lindemann in the video “Mutter”, besieged by hordes of zombie-like creatures that are apparently supposed to represent their fans - trapped in the Success.
    After being overwhelmed by their "fans", the band members ascend to heaven. You can see them now, except Lindemann, without make-up, freshly styled, apparently content. In exactly the same way, they throw themselves into the abyss (hell), from which the red cone of light shines. In Hell, they free themselves from the chains and thus free themselves. They crumble to dust and break out of the cage they were held in
    The band addresses their career and the "turning point" after the album "Mutter", which almost led to their separation from Rammstein. In the video, this change is probably symbolized by the fact that the "new" version of Rammstein, who storms into the opera, had to kill the old one, because otherwise she would have perished herself.
    The band members are preserved in the "Mother" room and their current versions march in and torch their clones with a petrol can. Are they not saying goodbye to the band, to themselves, as many believe, but to the idea of disbanding? It's an interpretation that also fits with a statement by guitarist Paul Landers:
    When meeting a fan before one of the concerts on the European tour, he stated that "Adieu" was not a farewell because all members still had a lot of fun with Rammstein. Rammstein never thought about quitting. The songs on the new album „Zeit“ are based on experiences and losses that the band members had to go through. Now that they have reinvented themselves and have all the freedom, they are able to face the pressure and expectations and break out of the "cage" on their own.
    The footage of the video, in which the band members are shot dead on the ground, shows Rammstein what would have happened if they hadn't managed to reinvent themselves. If the musicians hadn't managed to get into the room marked "Mother" and self-destruct there, they would be dead by now. So if they hadn't settled their disagreements at the time, Rammstein would have been long gone. Rammstein has overcome the times when there were many thoughts of quitting.
    The other interpretation, which seems also very obvious: The video actually announces the approaching end of Rammstein. The Rammstein members break free from themselves in a painful process and die as seen in the end credits of the video and are released from all the star hype and expectations and can start a new life.

    One interpretation is that the band kills its past ("Mutter" and before), frees itself from the musical chains from their older times. They don't want to be clones doomed to repeat themselves - one needs to evolve to grow. The outro shows what happen if you don't succeed ... But with Rammstein you never know 😉 (btw the outro is a remix of "Zeit")

    Their videos are like short films and I'm always sitting when first watching with my mouth literally hanging open 🙈 And then I have to watch it a million times to try to NEARLY understand all they want to show us and I think I only get half of it 😅
    So creativ, so dramatic... they're like fine wine, they get better and better 🙏🏼
    When they began around 1995 (I think that was the year, would have to look it up), I was 12years old and my parents where totally shocked of my taste in music 🤣🙈 Now, 28 years later, they got used to it 😅👍🏻🤟🏻
    Super nice reaction, the awe in your face was so clearly showing that I had to smile along 😘

    The whole album of "Zeit" was an album that was literally thrown together. COVID-19 postponed their 2020 North American stadium tour and European Summer tour. They wrote and recorded the entire album to fill in that down time. Had it not been for the lockdowns this album and these songs may never have come to be.
    Now has a fan for nearly 30 years I can say that people who say they are calling it quits obviously has not sat down and listen to the entire album. Which by the way tells an entire story from beginning to end. Not to mention that with Rammstein you must take into account these guys are not only extremely talented they are very intelligent. I mean many people would almost say with their almost marching like rhythms at times and Till's classic rolling of his R's that they are fascists, but the opposite is actually truly the case.
    I end this by a quote from an Oxford Professor of Modern German Literature Karen Leeder about this very song:
    "What comes in the final track that says its farewells and teases multiple meanings that will have fans scratching their heads. Death is hailed is the only thing that will last forever. The body is doomed to decay. Set against this is a grandiose gesture from the barricades of time: ‘a last song, a last kiss’ (echoing 80’s punk band Die Toten Hosen?).
    "The phrase ‘Jeder stirbt für sich allein’ (‘Everyone dies alone’) is a watchword but also a novel of anti-fascist resistance by the German author Hans Fallada. But in tune with the first song, Adieu offers a community in death: ‘We will stand by you’ and later ‘you will always be with us’. The closing line reminds us of ‘the beautiful moment’ of the track Time (Zeit)."

    Hey Millie.
    It seems it is not a goodbye (which Ialso feared).
    Eva Libbach has written the following on a few other reaction videos;
    Hello from Germany.
    That was a great reaction.
    The lyrics themselves are written for two dear people of Till and Richard they lost the past two years.
    This is what Paul answered to a fan during this years tour when asked if they as a band would retire or split up. Plus they are having so much fun making g music together.
    Given their incredible creativity, I don't think Rammstein will stop either, yet. Both visually and musically, they glow with creativity. The released behind-the-scenes footage of the video shows a very relaxed band, happy to be pursuing their calling as great musicians and artists. The text itself was written as mentioned reasons above. I've watched the video a few times (so many eastereggs to discover) and have the following interpretation:
    This video is a processing of the events surrounding the "Mutter" album. You can see "Mutter22" stamped on the vault door. (next year will be the 20th anniversary of it.)
    The license plate of the van reads "LIFAD6", a follow-up album after "Mother". They are armed for battle. The building they are entering is the opera of Paris.
    The band itself was on the verge of dying at the time. Huge personal differences and they wanted and then separated from their old record company. Terminating the contract was certainly not easy and expensive. Because they felt imprisoned in their creativity (clones of their art). They went through hell to free themselves from all old chains (Dante's Inferno with images of the ceiling of the Pantheon in Rome) in order to be able to rise again. Her creativity freed itself. The red Lazer is again the common thread. In the credits (the song "Zeit" is played as an orchestral version), an alternative ending is portrayed. That they couldn't free themselves and that's why everyone is dead in the end. And the red thread of the Rammstein story disappears.
    I experienced this song live. Let me tell you. Being at a stadium singing along with 40.000 other fans. Amazing. Goosebumps. It's the last song, as regarding the content of the lyrics there Tears welled up in some.
    With love from Germany 😎🤘

    As often, you can understand the song in different ways. From the lyrics alone, it is a good bye for a close person. The video on the other side could be interpreted as a cut-off from their former selves or as an release. And yes, both together can be interpreted as a godd bye to their fans, but as far as I know they are not going to retirement 😉

    I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Rammstein is your favorite band...lol, it's definitely my all time favorite. I've gotten into some other metal bands over the years, listened to them for 2 maybe 3 years and then lost interest, but with R+ it's different I discovered them through a friend(to whom I'll be forever grateful)in 1998 and I've been listening to them ever since, and when I say listening to them I mean on a daily basis, ha ha you could probably say I'm a bit obsessed, All that being said I really enjoyed your reaction it was great!

    The theory I've heard was that some years back, they weren't in control of their own career, due to poor management, which has since been replaced. And they want to kill the old Rammstein. As portrayed by their clones in stasis that they just set on fire. Beyond that, I doubt they're going anywhere.

    i don't know why this song gives you the idea that the band is quitting. as is often the case with rammstein, the song is about death and not about quitting. you could also have said that about "zeit", because the song is also about dying. I think the song was just chosen as the last one from the new album, because it will probably also be the last video from it. but that has nothing to do with the fact that they want to stop. but it only closes the album and we now have to wait again for some time until a new album comes. By the way, guitarist Paul Landers said at a meet & greet in Berlin that the band never thought about quitting: "Rammstein never thought about quitting.
