    I've read that Rammstein was asked whether this is a goodbye of the band and they answered that this is not their intention and they don't have plans to end up with their music. The whole album - which has a kind of melancholic touch (even in the funny tracks) - was made under the impression of personal losses of the band members. In this context, lyric-wise "Adieu" looks to me as the feeling of a lost fight against death ... not of the own death, but of loved ones ... and to finally accept that there is nothing to stop it. A kind of sad acceptance of the inevitable.
    Video-wise they are referencing to the time when they had produced their album "Mutter" and almost parted and had to reinvend themselves - which they did fortunately.

    The outro is a piano & strings arrangement of the song "Zeit" (Time) which you must definitely also look at. Also, the location is not a church, but the Paris Opera House.

    As is typical with most Rammstein videos, especially recent ones, there's a lot of interpretation to be done based upon the lens through which one sees their world. The song is saying goodbye to something, regardless of what one pictures it to be. The beginning of the video we see the entire band ready to do battle against a formidable enemy to do what? To go destroy themselves. The band members are in those tubes. One could argue that the people in those tubes are the original band members and that clones are created as needed off of the originals. This could mean that the clones are ending the cycle and that there'll be no more reproduction of them, which is why Till could be seen with a tear rolling down his cheek. This could be a way for the band to suggest that the old original ways of the band have now been ended and that what comes next will be a creation of their today rather than reliving the past on stage. It's safe to say this is a consideration given the band isn't as young as it once was. This is further visualized by them covered in tar while being imprisoned inside a cell shaped like the Rammstein logo while the audience is outside pulling chains that move the band members. Also notice that the band members are initially seen wearing iron masks with spikes on them which were used in medieval Europe to shame the wearers or torture them. Further on we see them not wearing the masks and standing on top of the Rammstein logo cage but still chained. They raise their arms pulling the chains, breaking the enormous statues around the room. The chains are connected via a gold band to the leg of each statue, showing that they are slaves to these giants. The scene where you see them floating up into the clouds shows more than one copy of each of the band members, meaning that they've died many times, going back to the cloning thing again. The final scene during the credits shows that the band never even made it into the band holding chamber in the tubes. They were all killed. This can be seen as the band's attempts to change things have always ended in failure and that new copies of them will just be rolled out to do what they're told to. The red laser going up into the sky has been seen in many of their videos and is most prominent in their video Deutschland (as well s their stage performances of that song), so it's likely that the red laser equals Germany. The fact that it turns off may indicate that they won't be as Germany-centric. Till Lindemann has already demonstrated this by doing solo performances in Spanish. The band has stated that this song does not mean that Rammstein is finished. No one knows what the future holds for the band, but that's my two cents on what the video means. The opening scenes were filmed at the Paris Opera House.

    I love the way Rammstein employs the “red thread” in so many of their videos. Wir halten zusammen.

    • @sindbad8411
      @sindbad8411 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      in a classic sense the red thread came from greek mythology "the red thread of ariadne" and has been used in as a methaphor in phylosophical talks etc.
      Ariadne's thread, named for the legend of Ariadne, is solving a problem which has multiple apparent ways to proceed-such as a physical maze, a logic puzzle, or an ethical dilemma-through an exhaustive application of logic to all available routes. It is the particular method used that is able to follow completely through to trace steps or take point by point a series of found truths in a contingent, ordered search that reaches an end position. This process can take the form of a mental record, a physical marking, or even a philosophical debate; it is the process itself that assumes the name.

    For me their songs "Adieu" and "Zeit" cause an instantly welling up of tears. I saw them live in Dresden three days ago. When "Zeit" came up, and later "Adieu" in their performance I just sat there with tears freely running down my face. I know for myself I can't take it today, as it is too early for a repeat performance. But to you, and anyone in a critical situation, know that you are being thought about, even purely anonymously, that your life is valuable, and you will be missed. So please, don't take that final step. Talk to someone who will just listen, no dumb 'wise' words. Just sitting and listening to you.
    There are others out there you have been in similar situations (not identical but similar enough) to empathize and recognize your situation.

      I saw some speculation that both of those songs might be inspired by the 2019 passing of Tomas Roth who was a close friend to the band.

    She was a *Tiny*, but powerfull woman at 1.45 M, the last thing she said to me was that she was happy all of her grandkids got to graduate gymnasium - College grade acceptens -
    She had a heart attack 2 hours later.
    She didn't speak a lick of english but would sing along to the radio^^
    I miss her every day.
    Dandelions are everywhere this time of year, she loved/hated them.

  • @music2seeconcertphotograph457
    @music2seeconcertphotograph457 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This video has so many hints and possible ways of interpretation:
    First of all there are references to earlier songs and videos like "Ich Will" ("heist", haircut, smoking), "Mein Herz Brennt" (grid, cave), "Deutschland" (red beam and coffin in space shown at the official countdown to the premiere) , "Liebe ist für alle da", "Mann gegen Mann" (masses of bodies), and of course: "MUTTER" (cave with grid, Till in cave, "Mutter 22" on the laboratory door).
    It looks like they are on a crusade (crosses in focus) using a car with "LIFAD 6" as number plate: LIFAD is the official fan community of Rammstein and also the name of their sixth album.
    They enter the Paris opera house and shoot their way towards the "laboratory". While doing so, they are "dirty", dressed up for the fight. Flake mages to get the door opened with his hacker tool.
    On the door you find the letters “Mutter 22”. This can have (at least for me) two meanings: Their third album Mutter was released in 2001 and will become 21 years old next year. Even more fitting is another explanation for me:
    Around the time of “Mutter”, the band had internal conflicts and they were even close to a split. Beside other things there were disputes about the artistic future. So, they open the door “of “Mutter” and behind it there are clones of themselves. And they somehow have a kind of similar looking to the fetus (a 200 year old dead fetus btw.) One could see those “clones” as former beings of them from the “Mutter” area. Beside that the always straight red beam (past and future / red thread) has lost its direction. Like the band wasn’t clear which way to proceed. The current Rammstein change their behavior, become soft, sentimental, … before they burn down the lab and their “Mutter” clones. For me it shows, that they had to break free from the situation they were in, but nevertheless it was their live and their success, …
    The following scene will introduce the cave to us. From above there are six statues looking / facing downwards into it. Down there are the band members in a cage surrounded by masses of creatures (for me the fans). The band members in the cage are attached to chains, which are pulled by the creatures (fans). The band is stuck in a cage is in hell. The masses are following them, but they are are also “tormenting” the band. The fans themselves are also stuck in hell themselves.
    Within the cave the band is first in the cage and has metal “helmets” on and the creatures don’t move.
    Then they get rid of the helmets and the fans start to move. The bands gets more energetic. Finally they get free and rise towards heaven, smiling, but there is still some firing of guns. With them the fans rise up.
    The next scene is still irritating: The band is on ground level of the opera again, moves towards the cage and they all jump into the cave. Now you see the “band-creatures” standing on top of the cave. They rise their arms and it seems that they are pulling down the giant statues from the top of the cave. Everything crushes down, but the straight red beams rises upwards. They had to crush the hell with the giant statues as “gods” at the top and the band caught in a cage at the bottom to have a straight direction again.
    While the credits of this incredibly insane production are shown, one can see the dead band members lying on the floor towards the laboratory door. Right in front of the door with still “Mutter-22” on it, we find the dead Flake with his not successful hacker tool trying to unlock the door.
    Is this an alternative ending? Maybe. Somehow.
    I get the idea, that there are two time layers woven together. In the past the crushed the hell, escaping the boundaries given by fans, public, media and very probably even themselves. They were successful and the band had a future, represented by the straight upward red beam.
    But history can repeat. They are always endangered to get trapped again, to be torn apart. And therefore in 2022 there can be a new “Mutter-Crisis” like in the original one. They have to be aware of it and have to fight it every time it happens. When they nowadays find their “clones” behind that door, they know, they have to “burn” them down, but they have now a more differentiated view onto the past and therefore there is also sympathy for and an emotional connection with their “clones”. But if they do not face the danger of getting trapped again (as clones or as caged creatures) there will be no future for Rammstein. Then band “THEN” would die and the red beam would disappear. But if they are aware of it and if they continuously succeed to avoid being trapped again, there IS a future for the band
    All these ideas written down here are my personal thoughts. They can be one explanation, they can be wrong, they can be one of many interpretations. I still have so many question marks myself. But also some ideas, that might be not totally wrong.
