I'm 23 years old and decided to give Wizardry a try Really enjoying it so far! Floor 3 nearly wiped me when I made the mistake of digging too deep into the secret doors without casting Dumapic I also encountered two murphy's ghosts when I found him, so it definitely is still possible in the new version
One of the strangest aspects of that first Wizardry game is that you can win the game by JUST exploring floors 1, 4, a tiny bit of floor 9, and floor 10; and in fact this is probably what most experienced players do. The risk/reward for exploring the middle floors is tricky because as you've discovered, they can be extremely punishing!
Perhaps the most diabolical aspect of Wizardry is you cannot have an all-fighting front line and a Priest, Mage, Thief, & Bishop in the back. So in the original WizPGMO on Apple II I had a strong all-fighting front line, and my Mage changed class to a Bishop mid-game. But in the sequel Knight of Diamonds, which imported your WizPGMO party, I was stuck when I needed a teleport spell. So I took my original WizPGMO Samurai and spent HOURS fighting Murphy's Ghosts solo until he learned the Level 7 Mage spell Malor, then imported him into KoD !
Back in the day I always ran with a bishop in the party but nowadays I think most people think that's a bad idea, because they simply level too slowly. What I've been doing in my recent playthroughs has been: a "utility bishop" stays parked in the tavern, drinking beer. When I need to identify things, I go back for a drink. Occasionally he will be too low level to identify things, at which point I'll take him for a trip into the dungeon with my higher-level party to power level him a few levels.
@@TeaLeavesProgramming Yes I'm still considering that option on my Xbox. In the original my Bishop was levelled up and had lots of both Mage & Priest spells, which is strong in the long game after Mages and Priests have nothing else to learn. Currently I have my Priest in the front line and plan to change him to a Lord after learning level 7 Priest spells, using my Bishop to take up the slack.
@@tedcamus3578 IIRC in the original there was also the "Identify #9" trick which gave your bishop infinite XP, which made them a lot more viable to play with 😀
Until this reboot I've always felt that the NES version was the best way to play Wizardry, because under emulation freeze/defrost makes it so much less painful.
This was one of my favorite games on NES its coming this week to the ps5 i'm gonna pick it up. TY for this trick i never found it way back in early 90's thats when i played this.
My brother and I had a glitch in our NES version as kids. When we finally beat him, every member of that party gained infinite XP. Every time one of those characters rested, they gained a level!!
You don't even have to leave the room. You can search again....
Also Dilto is stackable which make it easy to kill
Fact check: true!
Tea Leaves, I love this vid and your voice is FANTASTIC for reviewing Wizardry and RPGs!
Thank you kindly!
Yes, you can definitely have more than 1 ghost.
I seem to always get 2 ghosts.

@@TeaLeavesProgramming Actually I never knew that one back in the day LOL ! And reportedly it's been removed from the new release anyway.
Yep. Would do this very thing on the NES version.

Good luck on your adventure in Llylgamyn!

True heroes!
Nice Points Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
My first encounter here was two of them.
Yeah, that's more common than not.
I have played eye of beholder on some icl machine once and the wizardry 7 and 8 didn't complete them but dam hours months and was great
I restarted Wiz 8 recently and forgot how slow the animations were.
@@TeaLeavesProgramming lolol 🤣 I forget about that lol thnks for making me think 🤔😊😊
Just got a total party wipe on 4th floor. I need to level up another group 😭
In practice I think you always need to be sort of absentmindedly grinding multiple groups to do corpse retrieval.
Don't forget the "Bishop identify item 9" cheat
Yes, a classic. Made a video about that recently, right here:
th-cam.com/video/m0UZPiPfdyw/w-d-xo.html
I got the game last night got lost and found 2 Murphys ghost and they ended my 1st party
The quintessential Wizardry experience! Remember you can go back with other characters and bring their corpses back!
Whgere did you get all the cool keys? Thanks in Advance!
Not sure what you mean?
