I changed a bit additional modules list to make it less painful to lose when killed. Sansha armor hardeners on Jita is 7 mil each(7x3=21mil) for explosive, 22 mil for thermal and 3.5mil for EM. Better to buy experimental version of this module for few hundreds thousands. Difference is between 47.3% and 49.5% resistance. For me, not worth wasting 45 mil. It isn't those EVE mechanics, where small changes have big impact on gameplay, like, goin from 25 to 30 on virus strength. In this case with armor hardeners you literally gain 0 advantage by paying extra 45 mil. With armor plates you'll have to pay 10 mil. 500hp cheap plates vs 700hp for pricey imperial navy plates. Cuz in my case cheap armor can't handle 40 more damage. And without 83% resist it's like 600 damage. Hull has 33% explosive resistance. So it will be 400. For 690hp astero hull it's painful. Of course damage will decrease with distance. But in ghost sites time and focus is really important. So better buy that 10 mil plate and not worry and lose focus about hull. Scan rangefinding array. For me, third one didn't make any change. 106 with two and 106 with three. But it takes 5m3 of precious cargo space. So better leave it on station and fill that additional space with goodies. And last but not least. Damage control. I take tech 2 instead of tech 1. I assume that this is for gas clouds, so additional 5% of resistance, hence, time for hacking for few hundred k is pretty good. To author - thanks for guide. It is pretty meaningful. I didn't make runs with mobile depo and a lot of "spare parts" and really worrying about cargo space because I have only 63m3 instead of usual 210... But I hoping that with some management I will be able to fill it with all expensive stuff at cost of losing few mils of cheap loot. But I am not sure about this. Will see...
if you want to get an extra 20m3 Cargo Space, carry a small cargo container in your ship. there's some "black magic" making the small container size in your cargo only take 100m3, but inside the container you can place 120m3 of loot!!! mind blown! yes, that 3rd rangefinder array is not needed. i assume with the diminished returns, maybe it goes from 106 to 106.4, and the display just rounds down to 106. i tried with 1 array, and it didn't work. doing the math with using the experimental armor hardeners, does keep the effective armor above 10k explosive protection, but going to the lesser armor plates gets your total (shield/armor/hull) close to not surviving a blast. i hadn't tested out the different combinations. in my Omega days, i would also carry a pvp fit in my Astero... the hunted becomes the hunter!

I have a different process for Wormhole exploring. But if i'm exploring in NULL (taking my time), i will also scan for wormholes. For the "Ghost" site hacking fit: I use 3 "True Sansha Explosive Armor Hardener" and 1 "Imperial Navy 200mm Steel Plates" to get my armor to 1625HP with an explosive resistance of 85%. This is enough to survive the 10,000 explosive damage from a can exploding. I also switch my relic analyzer with a "Caldari Navy Small Shield Extender" for a little more buffer. was that the fit you were interested in?
The reason for 3 scan rangefinders is to increase my scan probe strength enough to scan down Superior Sleeper Cache sites (100M+ ISK). As an Alpha, the best scan strength i can get is 101 and with the extra 3 scan rangefinders that increases to 106. The minimum strength needed for the Superior Sleeper Cache (Data Level V) is 105. Once you are an Omega, it's easy to reach 105 and then these rangefinders are not needed.
And one question. Is probe scan strength really have to be 106? I mean if I buy cheaper implant I'll get like 101-102. Maybe if I play a bit with scanning mechanics, change position of probes by ctrl+scroll, will be a bit more precise by selecting scan position when I'm at 0.25AU range. Maybe it will be possible to scan it down? I know that such economy is a bit weird considering I'm flying 110mil ship without cloak. But still 25mil is 25 mil) And, by the way, thanks for not telling everyone to not play astero on alpha. I'm damn tired of reading such comments below any astero alpha content) Ship is beautiful. 60km+ target range is huge timesaver, and +5 virus strength makes huge deal in sleeper caches as well as only astero on alpha can scan all of those. So even without cloak it probably worth it. Or at least it isn't significantly worse profitwise than heron and all of those cheap t1 explorers.
In my testing, to scan down the Level 5 Superior Sleeper Cache takes 105, and this is with moving the probes into a tight formation and getting very close to centered on the site. I don't think 104 would cut it. Yes, having not cloak is a bit more dangerous, but if you are paying attention, you can still avoid hunters. Now the big but, if you are not conformable with risking a 100-150M ISK ship, definitely be happy with your heron with 72+ probe strength, you can still do those level 4 relic sites. your align time is now 3 or 4 seconds, instead of 2 seconds align (with Astero), and your hacking might fall a bit more without the +5 virus strength. Use that Heron to practice and get comfortable in NULL. It's still very profitable and fun.
