Ummm. Because id's can be faked. Your finger print cant so it deters all the thieves from selling stolen phones. If they try the police have the fingerprint to find them, not some fake state ID they presented.

What you do BEFORE you sell your old phone or tablet: First you encrypt your information by going into your security setting and then encrypt your phone, this can take awhile so make sure your phone is fully charged or plugged in. After you have fully encrypted your device THEN do a factory data reset. All of the information that was on your device will now be erased AND it will also be unable to be pulled up through any kind of software if someone tries to. You can also get apps I believe that will "write" over the data on your device to prevent anyone from reading it.

@@BallAndSack169 if your phone is broken you won't be able to do this BUT if it's a "newer" type Android phone/tablet then it will have automatically encrypted your device. ALL new Android devices automatically encrypt their data as it's added to the phone, ie: adding new photos and content

This sounds stupid considering people could potentially plug USB killers into these machines and completely fry them.
If they have an adapter, Unless the machine has protection and cuts power off to the USB.
You connect your device to the machines, after you have given it your identification, and also have sometimes been filmed as well. So, if you did damage their machines, then it wouldn't be difficult to trace you, when they already have your personal information.

Yes this is a good idea but it should be usable by all ages and needs to be able to take all phone charged or not bc if it has to be charged but if the phone dose not charge youre basically screwed amd instead of reselling the phone it should be taken apart and all the metals and electronics should be used to make sum used not resold

every time I try to stick my broken(but still somewhat works) LG G Pad X 10.1' into it, it always says "It seems there is more than 1 item in my compartment DERRRRP!" over and over. does anybody know why that is? it's useless to me, I dropped it amd cracked the screen but it still works. just certain buttons on the left side of the screen where it cracked wont work. regardless, does anybody know if it just wont take any kind of tablet bigger than 8 inches or what? it wont give me any kind of explanation why it wont other than it thinking there's "too many items" in the compartment. ***** I know how it works in order for you to make money. Buy low and sell high it's a no brainer, because unsuspecting people who has an extra device a couple years old or couple monts old laying around would want to get something for it. EcoATM machines don't check for minor signs of use such as tiny scratches or dents and what is included such as the original box/accessories which can affect the value of a device when selling to an individual. It would be better to have a kiosk with an employee to closely examine the device, then offer a quote if the device passes all the requirements on an extensive check list. The condition of the device in the real world can make a difference in value based on minor signs of use such as a small knick on the device or if the device has been repaired before. A grading chart would make more sense such as 1 being the worst condition and 10 being the best, so for instance an iPhone 6 64gb factory unlocked used practically brand new in 9.5 out of 10 condition is worth $480 with the box and accessories vs the same device in a 5 out of 10 condition is only worth $190. I know it sounds more technical and the steps seem complicated but at least that way the individual might feel they are not being ripped off because they would get a price more close to what they paid and your company would still make money for the resale of the device. I know its not a perfect world but ecoATM can at least offer a more realistic price without trying to rip off people. I recently used your app to get a $45 quote for my lg g2 D800 factory unlocked 9.5 condition because I bought the phone brand new 2 weeks ago with the case. I checked on eBay and the same device same color factory unlocked is selling Buy it now for $225 so now I'm thinking WTF is going on? Can I get a more realistic price like $100 or $80 due to the fact my device is practically brand new 9.5 condition?
