@@JoshuaKrell I’ve been micing the inside of the toms normally! Such a rich sound versus the rather flappy top mic! But I think that has a lot to do with my mic choice. Gonna try a beta 52 when I get home!
I bought one of these, and they are amazing. They sound fantastic, have very low self noise, and they don't need much gain to drive them. I have recorded my Classical guitar with a LCT440 by the bridge and a Neuman KM 184 pointing at the 12th fret. The Lewitt needed about 8db less gain to get the same level as the Neuman. Sounded fantastic!
It really does sound similar, in my opinion. I always loved the clarity of the U87 and this mic gave me what I always liked about the U87. I did not get to belt or whisper into it, so idk yet how it would handle those scenarios.
What do you mean by swing far above their price tag this mic is going up against neuman 87s and is only 400 dollars where I live im pretty sure its a fair price
The 640TS on drum overheads is 100% my favorite. I recently used it on a cab for guitars and it was also amazing. I did an entire weekend where it was the only mic I used. (Against a U87, U47, 421’s and so many others). It worked great on everything.
I have this mike since more than one year. It has a very refined, detailed and open sound. I use it on acoustic guitar, backing voices, etc. It is a bargain.
The Rode NT1 I feel is a little better for an all rounder at same price, with its flatter frequency response, the high end in the Lewitt won't suit many situations, but is a bargain if you like that bright sound
Lewitt is made in Austria but guys that were the brains behind AKG and several other premium brands. They OEM for several people and their product is exceptional and very affordable.
They aren’t made in Austria, they are made in China, but developed in Austria. If you want former AKG employees engineering and building in Austria you have to buy Austrian Audio mics😎
As the drummer and the engineer “left” or “right” kind of means nothing because it depends on the perspective. Audience or drummer. But if you say the overhead hihat mic there’s no confusion.
Who else loves big condenser mics on toms?
i havent tried this. ive been sm 57 or 609 on the toms. gonna try this. thanks bud!!!
I used to use Rode NT1-A on toms. Were you gating them a ton, or do those just have sweet rejection?

YES
414s on toms are just so big, and you can get not just different rejections but tonal qualities too
Jeff Porcaro
I also own a 540 that i use on vocals and acoustics all the time and I love it. Lewitt is honestly amazing.

Her giving it that compliment in comparison to the U87 just made the value of them sky rocket haha
agreed

@@arianamastersofficial Sounds like another video is in order?! hahaha
Lewitt mics swing far above their price tag.
I can’t wait for their Project 1040 to get into commercial production
@Whatsit Tooya

Sounded amazing as overheads 🤯
I bought that mic a little over a year ago.....still haven’t used it yet 🤣. Looks like a great build though.
I dont understand how people buy 400 dollar mics not even use it
WOAHHHHH they sounded so good on the TOMS!!! Great review Andrew, your drums sound incredible
Excellent mic. Great price. Thanks for the review and info.

Awesome video! Thanks!

What do you say about Vocals with these
can't tell if that crash cymbal sounds harsh or if it's the mic, what do you think?
Hi. I want to probe mid/side for drums rooms. I have a ribbon mic for side on figure 8. Do you recommned this for the mid mic or the lewitt 441 flex?
Your Drums sounds thick!!
5:28 Why did you air quote left mic 😊

80th like!!!!!
Who the eff can just send money in a 400 dollar microphone and just leave it there in its package for 3 to 4 months?? 😂😂
