Dude, the flip function allows you to rotate the machine 180 degrees so the D-Pad is on the right and thats why A&B buttons feature both on the top and on the bottom! To activate, simply press the two function relevant keys together. Also, to get more enjoyment our of PacLand, you need to press the D-Pad multiple times until you're running full speed - try it again, it's an awesome game! Great vid as always, and I'll be wanting my kit back eventually ;) JC
Hahah! I was wondering why the D-Pad was at the top! You can have the stuff back, but let me get some more of that un-playable 3d tetris action please.
On Gauntlet, use the screen flip function to put the d-pad on the bottom. That way it's easy to hold the Lynx while playing. I'm a bit surprised you didn't figure that one out. Oh, well, it's a quick video and you're swapping carts in a rush. Great video!
I love the Atari Lynx. I have both the models and about 20 or so games (few with boxes and manuals). I think this is a great system for someone that is wanting to get into collecting handhelds or Atari stuff. Games are cheap, its common to find games in the box for $10 or so. The most expensive game is probably $40 or so and the library isn't that large. There are plenty of fun games on it. I personally like playing Rampart and Chips Challenge more than anything on it
You didn't sound too impressed about those games and let me tell you that there is a original pacman game for the lynx and cheap as well. Shadow of the beast and pacland are both amezing ports from the arcade, they come pretty close and,, pac land was the first side scroll platform adventure game wich inspired shigaru myomoto to create supermariobros. Without pac land supermariobros did not existed, but even more sadly, pac land is all long forgotten.
Rygar, Electrocop, Gates of Zendocon, Warbirds (especially when linked up to another player), etc. were great. Bear in mind this was competing with the monochrome Game Boy so the color and 3D abilities were amazing.
I bought one of these as new old stock in the late 90s possibly even 2000 for pennies while in the UK from a "Game" store which I believe was new in the UK. Not video game stores ... I mean the store literally called Game. Quite sure it came with a flyer for a company called Telegames.
Atari lynx was way beyond any handheld and even consoles back then.... My childhood right there ... Electro cop ... Rygar... Checkered flag ... California games... Blue Lightning ... Todds adventure in slime world ... Chips challenge ... Klax ... Shadow of the beast... Batman returns... And the fenominal Gates of Zendocon
Really, really nice! :P Nice video! This is another console I'll have to pick up eventually. Can the cartridges been taken apart? Doesn't seem like it.
Im sure they can be taken apart, they are probably fitted together with friction, and aren't meant to be taken apart. I would like to pick one up aswell!
Packland is a classic game I used to love it in the aracde not sure if u know but when u start walking double tap the way your going and he will run its a great games that one
Model 1 stuck out further to the left and right, with a rounded look. Kind of like a giant PSP. It was totally excessive unnecessary plastic. Apparently focus groups said bigger made them think they got more for their money. Cut back for the Model 2.
I think the reason they took photos off the screen is that only the game developer ever had access to the game while in development...and none of them took screenshots...if that feature even existed on their computer...on the software they were using...or if they were even using computers

Jon Cooper I
12:15 its the best game of all for me
10:15, nintendo made a stage of that in smash bros

Thanks man, ill try that if i ever get one. Thanks!!

Sweet. Hard Drivin. One of my Top Ten Arcade Games Featuring A Clutch.

You can still pick up the games on Ebay fairly cheap.

Pac-land is an arcade port, it was kinda a pioneer for platformer because it came out in 1984. The Lynx port is actually pretty good!
This handheld has the most weirdest game cartridge designs I've ever seen. Good job on the video as always dood 👍
Yeah i thought it was pretty unique too. Thanks very much man.

Can't wait for the Neo Geo Pocket!
It will be some time in the next week or so mate. I'm looking forward to it aswell.
the Comlynx is like the Lynx equivalent to connecting 2 Gameboys together
Packland is a classic game I used to love it in the aracde not sure if u know but when u start walking double tap the way your going and he will run its a great games that one
Ah that's awesome! Thank's for letting me know.
I noticed the power light wasn't working
Shadow of the Beast on the Lynx is actually pretty good…if brutal. The unkillable enemy was to significantly you couldn’t go that way
I thought it was just another 90s handheld trying to ride the gameboy bandwagon but it actually looks very nice and i kinda want one now
I was lucky enough to have one when I was a kid. It made the Gameboy look prehistoric.
Looked like in some ways it was more advanced than the Neo Geo Pocket despite being released 10 years earlier
This actually a model 2 Lynx
very nice mate 👍😎
Thanks man!
Great video
Cheers dude!
Hey do you know if this is the model 1 or 2
2 I believe!
The Retro Future now that I look at it it is a model 2 the model 1 is wider and the buttons are smaller
Boss Slayer and the model 1 is waaaay uglier
if you have a bigger hand then the model 1 is better but the model 2 is better in every way
Model 1 stuck out further to the left and right, with a rounded look. Kind of like a giant PSP. It was totally excessive unnecessary plastic. Apparently focus groups said bigger made them think they got more for their money. Cut back for the Model 2.
I don't think he showed Hard Drivin'
I still am in shock anytime I see the Nomad, it's so amazingly unnecessary and awesome
Loads of videos lately!
haha you might lose some of the games....
those games are thin!
Cheers man! Yeah they are pretty small.
