The Cavaillé-Coll Organ

To house the case coming from Florence, Emperor Napoleon III, grandson of Josephine, commissioned a new organ from one of the most prized organ builders of the time, Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. He began his reputation by building the organ of the Cathedral of Saint-Denis. Born in Toulouse, he was the fourth generation of organ builders and revolutionized organ building, constructing more than 300 instruments around the world.
