I lived in a house next to a primary school and one day i walked by and the schools garbage was out and there was boxes full of books in them, they smelled really bad but i looked thru them and found 2 boxes full of goosebumps books, some were duplicates some were in bad condition but when i found them i started reading them and idk why i can’t explain how much joy the goosebumps universe brings me
That always bugged me when parents don't believe kids. I know it's a crazy thing, but instead of making them feel delusional or as if they're lying just humor them without being condescending .
I used to have all of the original Goosebumps books but they got lost in a move and now I'm on ebay looking for them all so I can collect them again. Thank you for reigniting my love for this series! Also, my corgi does the same low bork/grumble, especially when I'm like good sir we are not doing that 🤣
I had a similar experience. Mother inadvertently gave away all my Goosebumps books (I had most of them). Now at age 33, I just found someone selling all 62, and purely for nostalgia, pulled the trigger. Takes me like an hour to read them now, but I'm absolutely digging it, especially reading a few for the first time.
@@TimmyTantrumsame, I can read the original 62 in like 45 mins, that’s why I like them, having adhd, I find it difficult to get invested in longer books if I don’t know what’s happening, I need to know what happens in the plot to see whether I want to spend time reading the whole book, often spoiling the twists. That is why I love goosebumps.
I just read all the original 62 Goosebumps books during covid lockdown, and it was the absolute best way to pass the time! For me personally, I found them as science fiction stories, as opposed to spooky ghost stories. And I will admit that after reading all 62 books back-to-back in the span of nearly a year (slow reader!), the plot twist ending of R.L. Stine kinda stuck with me, as I tried to predict what the twist ending would be for the next book. Some books were insanely brilliant, even though they were intended for 6-12 year olds (here I am in my thirties!), but there were some I just wanted to get through to reach the next one, almost like a chore! Absolutely favorite one is a super difficult choice but probably "Phantom of the Auditorium" or "Welcome to Dead House" but the one I would never pick up again was either "Beast from the East" or "How I got my Shrunken Head", due to these being kinda boring. But thanks for making a rating video, hope you had a productive and wonderful experience during covid lockdowns. Stay Safe and keep reading! Cheers!
80% of my love for the series is because of Tim Jacobus, those covers are already the Goosebumps experience. I love you and your stories R.L. Stine, but you owe Tim Jacobus 62 dinners, he is a god
Honestly, I started this like there's no way I can watch 2 hours of Goosebumps... but here I am at the end! I never read the Goosebumps books but my brother's collection is still at my mum's house somewhere so maybe one day. It was fun to hear a summary of all the books :)
I think Monster Blood got so much attention as during the prime of the books (mid 90s) "green slime" was extremely popular with kids, Nickelodeon always had people getting "slimed" Gak and other slimy toys were also popular. So im thinking that played a part in the obsession with that story plot.
After watching both your video and Gavin’s, I appreciated how both of you approached things in different ways, bringing your own perspectives to the same material. I love how he basically was like, “this isn’t horror, meh” to Deep Trouble, while you liked it for that reason, and other differences like that. But then, many of the ones that were really terrible were ones you had in common, like the later Monster Blood books, Say Cheese and Die-Again!, Let’s Get Invisible!, Be Careful What You Wish For…those definitely sound the most infuriating.
I am so glad to see this! I’ve been collecting them with my 7 year old son and we’ve been reading them before bed and it has been so much fun! This had to take so much time and I appreciate seeing it! ☺️ have a spooky day 🎃
My mother got rid of all my Goosebumps books (I never got all of them, probably had about 60-70%). So I got wine drunk the other night and eBayed all 62 (seller threw in some Fear Street, Series 2000, and Give Yourself Goosbumps books as well--sweet!). I'm at Be Careful What You Wish For right now. When I originally read these, I was like 7-8 years old, and they genuinely scared me. As an adult, they obviously don't scare me anymore, but it's scratching the nostalgia itch pretty hard. While reading I'm framing these as hour-long campfire stories, not as novels with intricate plots and character development. And for that, they're all perfect. Just a bunch of fun for me, really.
Although I love your content and agree with a lot of your opinions, I really think the more you got into the video and the more you were forced to read your opinions became pessimistic. If you had just read them at your own rate and chose which ones to read and when you would have had a really good experience. For example, on my channel I have reviewed both the beasts from the east and Attack of the mutant and think that they are both misunderstood. Yet again, I understand you were on a time crunch and you really wanted to bring this video out sooner. I just think you were a little too hard on some of the smaller bumps. Love the content. Keep it up
My thoughts as well. I get it, she has her own thoughts and takes on these stories just as we all do, but damn after awhile all the pessimism and negativity were becoming grating to my ears. Not to say many of these thoughts weren't necessarily valid but still, maybe a different approach rather than a challenge to cram every original book in such a short amount of time could have brought a better toned atmosphere all around.
40:54 this outfit is amazing!!! 🌟 Also, I've always loved the way you do your makeup!! I've probably mentioned it before in a comment- I've been subscribed for years. and I'm terrible at makeup, especially on my eyes. I have 20-something Goosebumps books that I had to go look to see if we actually still had. Technically, they're not _mine,_ I'm not even sure whose in the family they were. But they're in storage in the garage. One is even a special edition that looks shiny/sparkly- I'm not sure how to describe it. It's like a combination of shiny and sparkly, lol. Anyway, I mostly watched the show growing up. and oof that intro and music slaps still!! props to your commitment reading all the original books and making the vlog!
Goosebumps Book update! I got 3 more of the original Goosebumps books to add to my collection! #58: Deep Trouble II #59: The Haunted School #60: Werewolf Skin So the only two books I'm after are #61: I Live in your Basement and #62: Monster Blood IV! I'm getting close!
Love this thank you! Adore goosebumps and I enjoyed your take on them! I think the editing was great as person with A.D.D it kept me engaged with you breaks of pets, outfits, and also that your lewks changed throughout! You’re very pretty and likeable. Glad This landed in my algorithm or whatever lol! Nice job!
I love the video, but I am not for a second skipping over the "I had 36 hamsters" comment like it was nothing. Was it in a row? All at once? Did you conduct a hamster army? I have so many questions....
My favorite one as a kid was Attack of the Jack-o-lanterns. It’s probably the only Goosebumps that firmly crosses the line from fantasy to truly plausible horror. While not graphically described, it’s heavily implied that four human beings are kidnapped, murdered and cannibalized by two of the story’s main characters. There’s also a terrifying sequence (later revealed to be a dream) featuring a sadistic elderly couple who lure young trick-or-treaters into their home on Halloween night and hold them captive against their will. Finally, there’s the real-life prospect of discovering you really don’t know your most trusted friends very well at all, as they turn out to be killers in disguise. Very dark and unnerving themes considering the age of the target audience.
This was an absolutely amazing video! Im also a 90's kid. Greatest generation to be a kid. Change my mind. Lol! In all seriousness, I absolutely enjoyed this video. Goosebumps is what got me into reading as a kid. I still HEAVILY read to this day because of Goosebumps. Your analysis on these classics hits me in a place beyond nostalgia. I forgot about most of these, but just seeing the cover of these books triggers my mind to remember it all. Things I was foggy on, u helped me remember. Loved it, watched all the way through, subbed, and thanks.
Honestly I can relate so much to so much of this, and I love seeing how similar and different our opinions are on some things. "That was so much talking, there's gonna be no fun bits" this hit me harder than it should 😂
I read most of them as a kid in Danish, and the tagline on the front is changed on some of them in the translation. "He walks. He stalks." in Living Dummy was changed to "It talks. It laughs ...." which I think is scarier. It was even kept up in the sequel: "It talks again. It laughs again ...."
Took two nights to watch but worth it! I have not ever read a Goosebump book because I am a bit older. RL Stine books from my childhood are the Fear Street ones. They were very popular when I was in 5-7 grade. I think that Goosebumps may have started when I was in 8/9 grade. At least, that is around the time that the show came out. I already read adult fiction and classics primarily by that time, so I am not quite sure. I have promised my sons that I would read one of their books though, so that is on my to do list sometime in the next week or two.
This was an interesting video! I read Goosebumps books when I was younger and it was one of my favourite book series. And now I kinda wanna read all the books that are translated :D I know I'm not gonna enjoy them as much as I did as a kid. But for the nostalgic reasons, it would be fun. Thanks for this video!
These were the meta books of my childhood. Everybody was into this shit and I loved that , even the non book readers were like this seems cool , I wanna read it .
my favorites are say cheese and die, attack of the mutant, one day in horrorland, girl who cried monster, be careful what you wish for, attack of the mutant, camp jellyjam, shrunken head… the worst ones are you cant scare me (bc monster doesnt come out until last chapter), barking ghost, that chicken one
You are so funny and put so much effort into this! Those nails... aaahhhh !! Good to know I'm not the only 90s kid re-reading these silly books. Seriously, how did you even manage to track them all down?? Excellent video
We are in the process of collecting them through used book stores in the area. We spend between $1-$3 on each book. It's slow and tedious, but we never leave a garage sale/used book store/flea market without going through the books.
Excellent reviews. And weirdly, my most favorites are ones you dislike like Attack of the Mutant, Night of the Living Dummy 2, and The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena. But I respect your opinion.
All I can say is that I am giving you a 5 star rating for this video it’s amazing so thank you for your amazing video dedication to your reading channel please stay safe and strong love your Australia fan John xxxxx
Man for years me and dad worked on getting the whole collection, but we ended up missing a few (sequels, the meh ones, mainly). This was a amazing look over all of them. We also got some of the spin offs and some fear streets, one that I remember the most is Goosebumps 2000's Bride of Slappy. Youth horror has always interested me- they either work or suck lol. One that I remember, but isnt from R L Stine is a book called Frankenturkey. Lol
I absolutely loved 'Goosebumps' and I swear that they were the greatest books when I was a kid. It's funny how things change when you age because some of the ones that were scariest to me are now the complete opposite. And a lot of the ones that were the most popular were actually some of the most mediocre in the entire series. I am a bit biased though. The covers were always a HUGE selling point for me. I actually met the illustrator, Tim Jacobus, when I was a kid and managed to get a book signed. Extremely friendly guy too, I might add.
I'm really glad you loved The Curse Of Camp Cold Lake and The Haunted School! Both are really great, sadly underrated tho :/ Also I wish Della and Class Of 1947 were in the Goosebumps movie :(
Welcome to Horrorland will forever be one of my favorite Goosebumps books and episodes. It's what got me into the books in the first place but it definitely is more fun than scary at times
As a side note, it's nice seeing that my childhood fave (Werewolf of Fever Swamp) got a 4/5 ranking. I'll take what I can get, sometimes kid me wasn't known for good taste.
Really good video, even though i disagree on One Day At Horrorland, How To Kill A Monster & Beast from the East. I also did a bunch of vids on the OG 62. Feel free to check it out.
You know, I have 52 of the 62 original Goosebumps books on my shelf, and I just ordered five more from eBay a few days ago. That makes a total of 57. So, 57 down, 5 more to go to reach 62.
I have no clue, honestly. I haven't read any in years! Maybe just rating the path that you choose as the story or reading it multiple times with different paths and averaging the ratings
Still crossing every possible part of my body for every one of the OG 62 to get reprinted with the fresh covers since I refuse to read them electronically and I don’t wanna dig for “good condition” for nostalgia “good condition” is not good enough
I am in my young years at the age of ten but I still love the original goosebumps books.I will not buy a goosebumps book new cover book I will only buy the original 1980s covers.
I think you should have added a rating factor of whether book was well written because some of them like attack of mutant arent meant to be that scary and is more of an adventure book
The dedication and time this video took is very much appreciated and will not go unnoticed
Yesss I probably would’ve given up after like 5😂😂
Absolutely. RL Stein‘s writing style can be a little formulaic and predictable over time, however it doesn’t make his books any less contagious lol
@@LackaJudgment yes I remember getting older and into the later books thinking how predictable they had become. But still loved/love them!
What a stupid comment because it literally did
dumb comment number 2

This is awesome and makes me want to rate them all too, very fun
I want to start collecting & reading all of these. This is my childhood aswell. Thank you for the feedback on them. 😊
Thriftbooks is your friend for collecting them! 😊
@@hardbackhoarder ok thanks 😊
You know, I have 52 of the 62 original Goosebumps books on my shelf, and I just ordered five more from eBay a few days ago. That makes a total of 57. So, 57 down, 5 more to go to reach 62.
Ally, question for ya. With some of the Goosebumps books being choose your own adventure, how would you go about rating those?
I have no clue, honestly. I haven't read any in years! Maybe just rating the path that you choose as the story or reading it multiple times with different paths and averaging the ratings
Omg where is your hoodie from??
Edit: I mean the slappy one in the beginning. I love it!
It's from Urban Outfitters!
Me: I like to think I'm reasonably well-read...
HardbackHoarder: Hold my TBR pile.
srsly tho this is amazing
side note: My birthday is the 16th of June 😂 but it was quite the effort 🥲
You did it! 👏
those nails are soo cutee
Just loved this Ali! A x
I remember absolutely loving the ending to Beast from the East as a kid. surprised you hated it.
Still crossing every possible part of my body for every one of the OG 62 to get reprinted with the fresh covers since I refuse to read them electronically and I don’t wanna dig for “good condition” for nostalgia “good condition” is not good enough
62 books damn I remember my you get brother & sister watching the show I was more into the tales from the creep show
I am in my young years at the age of ten but I still love the original goosebumps books.I will not buy a goosebumps book new cover book I will only buy the original 1980s covers.
Where's that hoodie from? I need it badly.
Awe man, you shoulda had that one black girl twerking to the goosebumps song as the intro! Lol wonderful content as usual.
I think the fear street books were more scary imo
They are directed a teens, so hopefully! They are on my list eventually
Good job you took such of your time I watched all of it😄😄😄😄😄
I think you should have added a rating factor of whether book was well written because some of them like attack of mutant arent meant to be that scary and is more of an adventure book
Slight issue: I do want to
Just speculation, Slappy was not the main dummy (as you know) And slappy was one of the mascots. So maybe they did The 2nd one first
Imo the give yourself goosebumps horror land is 100 times better because of all the gruesome ways to die
Love goosebumps 💖
for books that came out 30+ years how did you manage to keep them in such good condition?
Living dummy 1 is STILL scary idgaf
90 KIIIIDDDZZZ
Gavin on Deep trouble " this is no ones favorite book" Ali on Deep trouble " i loved this book 4 stars! "

I disagree with your ranking but appreciate the fact that you did it :D

@@hardbackhoarder Weirdly Attack of the Mutant was probably my favourite even though I don't much like superheroes ^_^
