Im 13 and I caught my first cobia this summer the same way. He was 48 inches and 38 pounds it took me 20 minutes to get him in. It was one of the best days of my life!
Your videos are money. There's much to say, but thanks a million for what you have posted, Kayaks and all going after Keepers. These are thoughtful, inspiring and uplifting, and I wish you the best in your future.
haha I never realized there was such a thing as the polarized clips, always figured I needed to spend 400$ on some prescription polarized, it was long overdue
I went on a charter out on the Chesapeake a few weeks ago. Most people fish for Stripers on the Bay, but we decided to go for perch. Caught tons. It was great
Cobia!!! I also saw Joe (ComeOnFish) caught one recently from kayak. I might need to get down there soon. I live off 95 in Woodbridge so CBBT isn't too bad of a drive
from the kayak it is so much harder, not being able to sight cast them from the tower, I saw comonfish's video, he is the man haha, but yea they are down there, seems like anywhere in the lower chessie or ocean front could be really good on any given day, but theyre very elusive fish, the guys who captain these trips are putting in a ton of miles and hours to get on them, this day we had would be a slow day for down there, I think whenever I fish with my buddy Bill we always have a slow day because we are cursed haha
+Sea-Money Fishing i hear you man! Taking a charter isn't the same as doing it yourself. I'm going back to Costa Rica for vacation last time I was there I caught a rooster fish on a charter but this time I'm bringing my own gear and trying to catch one myself! Good luck and tight lines Chris!
See the great part about a fishing channel like this is that you dont have to hear anyone in the comments bitching and whining about clubbing the fish over the head to kill it 😅
hey chris, I'm planning on doing some surf fishing for browns this weekend and i have some leftover bunker thats frozen from a few weeks ago. When i bought it they said it was fresh frozen. Anyways, do you think i could still have success with this old bunker?
TJ is right, its better than nothing and will definitely work but the fresher the better. With frozen, a lot of times the meat turns to mush real quick, the head chunks would probably be your best bet, definitely worth a try though!
you might want to try a pair of cocoons sunglasses. They fit over your prescription glasses and they have side guards. Great for bright sunlight on the water and on the beaches. $50.00 worth every penny.
I usually buy it, although by this time of year it is tough to find as most shops only carry frozen, however, try giving 24/7 bait and tackle a call and see if they have anything fresh. bunker is good but any other fresh fish is just as good, 24/7 is prob your best bet. Also you should be able to find some kingfish around the inlet or beaches or even backbays there in AC, small hooks and little pieces of clams/bloods can get you the freshest bait around (kingfish). Croaker, spot, and every fish you can get is good bait for sharks. Riptide bait and tackle in Brigantine def has frozen mackerel which isn't bad, I have seen some large sharks taken on frozen mackerel recently
I just added it to the description, yea hes a busy captain and is usually booked solid all summer but thats how you know he's good, definitely look into it!
I feel your pain. I went 0-18 sight casting them on my trip where I was on my own to hook one. Fail city. Ended up salvaging the day by getting two citation red drum to eat, but that was like shooting fish in a barrel (giant school right on top.)
We got lucky- got the call on the radio from other guys who were bailing them on fly rods. I managed a 47 pounder off on an OBX pier on a live bluefish at the end of June, but nothing beats watching them eat a sight casted bucktail
theyre strong, oh yea, I am happy to have experienced some cobia and cobia fishing however I wasn't able to hook/land one myself which has left me wanting to try again even more... I'll be trying to get back down there at least a couple more times before they migrate too far south
+Sea-Money Fishing Yeah, I noticed you weren't as excited as I thought you'd be once he handed you the rod, and I figured it was because you weren't able to hook them yourself. I did watch a video from a couple days ago of someone getting some cobia off the concrete pillars at chesapeake bay bridge tunnel on a kayak... So at least they are running down there, might be worth the trip for you to take the chance.
Aren't Cobia a fish that is sometimes seen swimming by the belly of whales, Whale Sharks and other large sharks like Great White's ? I know Wrasse do this too, because they are the cleaning fish too.
Mark Beggs Fishing That's what it is. I was watching another fisherman sight fishing for them, and they would wait until they would see a ray and try to cast near it or behind the ray, and they usually caught a Cobia. Thanks, I was trying to remember that.
DeadlyUnited Thanks for the info, you are right about the remora attaching itself to larger animals like rays, whales, sharks etc., but the cobia is known to follow behind rays to scavenge -- I just wiki'd it. -- and I guess this is why fisherman try to find rays to cast their lines near or behind them, because they know there's probably Cobia behind it. I saw a video a while ago when they were catching Cobia this way and us talking about it just refreshed my tired memory. Cheers
Primarily I am looking to get into river fishing for stripers, since I can't always get down to LIS, the tidal creeks and rivers are much closer, but still need something longer than 6ft to reach the fish, I've been told. (Been using a 6ft medium freshwater for a while but wanted to get into some bigger stuff.)
Why does the skipper keep the boat moving when a fish is hooked? wouldn't it be better to be stay still while the fish is caught rather than going round in circles, nice fish tho... 😜
I stared 2 a days about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I was running a 7 and we had to catch the ball in a cradle hold or whatever, and I missed it but before I missed it I put one hand up and it hit my hand I missed the ball but the ball had it my pinky finger directly. I had to have my doctor set it back with a pen.
Hey Sea-Money, why don't you take beef jerky out with ya? Every time I go out I have beef jerky and water. Never get hungry and doesn't take up room in ya box.
awesome video!! wish I had your email so I can send ya a pic of the cobia my buddy caught, 61 inchs 80 lbs. citation for here in VA, off sandbridge pier
+Sea-Money Fishing hey man next time your in VA remember my channel and hmu, I fish the bay, rudee inlet, all of va beach area and so forth. I'm like 30-45 mins from the bay bridge
They are face masks that block sunlight and wind. They are cheap and way more convenient than constantly applying sunscreen. Charter captains use them alot because they are exposed to the sun & wind at least 4 - 8 hours every trip.
Yeah after watch it a little longer I kind of thought that might be the case. I didn't know if he didnt want to be on camera or not lol. Do you think driving that boat like that for 8 hours could give him like wind burn or something? is that such a thing?
Im 13 and I caught my first cobia this summer the same way. He was 48 inches and 38 pounds it took me 20 minutes to get him in. It was one of the best days of my life!
Your videos are money. There's much to say, but thanks a million for what you have posted, Kayaks and all going after Keepers. These are thoughtful, inspiring and uplifting, and I wish you the best in your future.
Oh yeah!!! Congrats on the Cobia! I know you have been chasing them for a while. And knowing you, I know you want a bigger one. Hahaha. Good luck!
yes indeed I am not satisfied, going to keep the cobia quest my top priority the rest of the summer haha
Another great video. This is helping me get through packing for a two week fishing vacation in Florida. It's gonna be sweet.
A helpful tip is to use flair Hawks in Florida. They catch big snook and redfish.
I like when u go out for fishing trips like this, it looks entertaining... I love your vids btw
How is it you fished without polaroids for so long?
I think you're going to be amazed at the stuff you will see now.
i love your videos
haha I never realized there was such a thing as the polarized clips, always figured I needed to spend 400$ on some prescription polarized, it was long overdue
Sea-Money Fishing
You can buy cheap wrap around polaroid sunnies for $20, better than nothing.
Sea-Money Fishing
hi again :P
Fred Neck is a small town!!! Keep the Cobia coming gents!
Austin is a great captain. Great summer for Cobia.
I went on a charter out on the Chesapeake a few weeks ago. Most people fish for Stripers on the Bay, but we decided to go for perch. Caught tons. It was great
nice sounds fun!
What size of spinfisher you guys using and what is the spec on ugly stick tnx and nice 👍 video
barehanded eel hooking. 1:50 in already amazed
Hello excellent videos, greetings from Ecuador.
Are there any waterfront live bait shops on or near Chesapeake Bay? Taking my boat out this weekend!
+Sea-Money Fishing must be so hard to find them. It seems like a good year for them too!
Awesome video. I got admit I'm a little jealous! Lol. Hey what kind of reels were those? The gold ones y'all were using.
You finally got one. Me, I'm still trying. Congrats Chris!
thanks man, Im going back down soon to try again, I want to catch one on my own gear haha
Got hungry when you were fighting your cobia... then got more hungry when I saw your sandwich. LMAO Nice Job Chris!!
Cobia. Yum..Yum! Haven't caught one of those yet. Good job man.
What size hook were yall using for casting the eels? Thanks
NICE!!! Cobia are a lot of fun!
Which model Ugly Stick Tiger is that ???? I have a few...... Please.
I did the same charter I caught a 60 pounder a 54 pounder and a 45 pounder love the channel
Dam Now I wish I went down to try in the kayaks. The fillets kinda look like striped bass fillets.
See the great part about a fishing channel like this is that you dont have to hear anyone in the comments bitching and whining about clubbing the fish over the head to kill it 😅
Exactly. And it's more humane than simply throwing it in the cooler to die slowly so it's a moot point regardless.
That was so exciting! I have to do this one day!
My boat is in the same marina as Finao's boat. He's great at putting people on cobia
Do they bite good in April?
is the cobia fishing hot right now?
@Sea-Money Fishing How'd that thing taste?
hey chris, I'm planning on doing some surf fishing for browns this weekend and i have some leftover bunker thats frozen from a few weeks ago. When i bought it they said it was fresh frozen. Anyways, do you think i could still have success with this old bunker?
it should work if they're around but there are better alternatives.
TJ is right, its better than nothing and will definitely work but the fresher the better. With frozen, a lot of times the meat turns to mush real quick, the head chunks would probably be your best bet, definitely worth a try though!
Nice catch man. Who did you all charter?
Why do you run the boat in circles while waiting to net the fish?
Hey. Having see you for a year. Thanks for report cobia
you might want to try a pair of cocoons sunglasses. They fit over your prescription glasses and they have side guards. Great for bright sunlight on the water and on the beaches. $50.00 worth every penny.
Nice fish! What brand are those jigs?
magictail bucktails, check them out they are well known for landing monster fish of all species
Where are you coming from? PA?
What is the type of yellow fishing rod?
Congrats on the cobia, I remember my first
Sure let's poke the fish in the eye before measuring to see if it's the right size? Great work guys!
do you catch your fresh bunker when you target browns or do you buy it if so do you know where i could buy some fresh bunker near ac?
I usually buy it, although by this time of year it is tough to find as most shops only carry frozen, however, try giving 24/7 bait and tackle a call and see if they have anything fresh. bunker is good but any other fresh fish is just as good, 24/7 is prob your best bet. +Sea-Money Fishing thanks for the great advice, will put it to good use!
Where can I find eels for bait in Maryland?
Why didn't you say the name of the person you caught the 30incher with brotha ??
Do these guys have like a website or something? I live near the Bay in VA and wouldn't mind going out with them one day
I just added it to the description, yea hes a busy captain and is usually booked solid all summer but thats how you know he's good, definitely look into it!
what editing software do you use?
do them little clip on polarized thing actually work. I was thinkin about pickin up a pair.
They do.
Fredrick is a little more than a little town
I was thinking the same. Thomas Johnson patriot right here!
Wonder if he meant Prince Frederick in Calvert.
compared to Philly, Fredrick is small. But yea, I'd say more than a small town.
yea youre right I didnt realized it was as big as it is
Dude, he's from Philly. Haha. I'm originally from Cumberland and I even think of Frederick as a little town.
Do some fishing off the bay in jersey, on some docs
How do the wallgreens clip ons work? The walmat ones suck you cant see shit in the water with them.
what kind of boat is that
make a video where you cook them! the triggerfish vid was awesome.
I m happy you finally got a cobia was tired of hearing about them lol
I feel your pain. I went 0-18 sight casting them on my trip where I was on my own to hook one. Fail city. Ended up salvaging the day by getting two citation red drum to eat, but that was like shooting fish in a barrel (giant school right on top.)
on the bucktail! We never got an eel on them.
damn, yea it takes some practice, big gluttonous bull reds sounds awesome tho haha I bet that was really cool
We got lucky- got the call on the radio from other guys who were bailing them on fly rods. I managed a 47 pounder off on an OBX pier on a live bluefish at the end of June, but nothing beats watching them eat a sight casted bucktail
You should go Halibut fishing in Alaska I'm going this weekend
CrazyAlaskan72 I went there when I was 9 and caught my limit about 10 miles off the harbor in Homer :)
Congratulations man! I know you've been wanting to get some for a while, how was the fight? I bet those things are hella strong!
theyre strong, oh yea, I am happy to have experienced some cobia and cobia fishing however I wasn't able to hook/land one myself which has left me wanting to try again even more... I'll be trying to get back down there at least a couple more times before they migrate too far south
+Sea-Money Fishing Yeah, I noticed you weren't as excited as I thought you'd be once he handed you the rod, and I figured it was because you weren't able to hook them yourself. Wait. Do you guys eat the Cobia
Really tasty, one of the best eating-fish.
+kapliger ok
Nice video man like always.😄
Didnt know ya'll got cobia up that far north.
Aren't Cobia a fish that is sometimes seen swimming by the belly of whales, Whale Sharks and other large sharks like Great White's ? I know Wrasse do this too, because they are the cleaning fish too.
Caught them off manta rays in the gulf
Mark Beggs Fishing That's what it is. I was watching another fisherman sight fishing for them, and they would wait until they would see a ray and try to cast near it or behind the ray, and they usually caught a Cobia. Thanks, I was trying to remember that.

What setup do you use for surf fishing?
a 10'-12' rod that throws 2-8 oz generally. Also a big reel in size, 6000-14000 depending on what you're trying to do
Primarily I am looking to get into river fishing for stripers, since I can't always get down to LIS, the tidal creeks and rivers are much closer, but still need something longer than 6ft to reach the fish, I've been told. (Been using a 6ft medium freshwater for a while but wanted to get into some bigger stuff.)
Ha! I'm in Frederick. Not so little.
Caught a shitload of them this past summer in Hughsville, VA
Let us know how much hey taste, they would be fun in the Yak!
Dude awesome video! and so weird I was born in Frederick Maryland haha
can I ask with what's with your buddys fit like why is he wearing that mask/handkerchief ?
Anthony Cullinane Sun protection
Cobia taste good?
it was pretty good, yea! kind of like eating swordfish or something.. thick white meat, but yes very tasty.
Why does the skipper keep the boat moving when a fish is hooked? wouldn't it be better to be stay still while the fish is caught rather than going round in circles, nice fish tho... 😜
I love fishing the Chesapeake
Hey I live in Frederick! Lol great vid!
What is that live bait
that is an eel, cobia love eels
thought you measured from the bottom of the tail for fork tails, not the tip of the tail. you might of done that wrong there
awesome video
was it a fake eel?
No it is live
great channel man
What is the charter website?
I just added it to the description
Sea-Money Fishing
Whats with scarf over the face thing, you dont want the fish to identify !
Drop some ice in your live well. The cold water will slow the eels down a bit.
Great job a that fish
I stared 2 a days about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I was running a 7 and we had to catch the ball in a cradle hold or whatever, and I missed it but before I missed it I put one hand up and it hit my hand I missed the ball but the ball had it my pinky finger directly. I had to have my doctor set it back with a pen.
6:24 he sure set that hook there!!
u should go to Michigan and go spotted gar fishing
I love fishing
my dad caught a 60 pounder from shore I can't remember what we caught it on
nice, thats the dream!
Hey Sea-Money, why don't you take beef jerky out with ya? Every time I go out I have beef jerky and water. Never get hungry and doesn't take up room in ya box.
sometimes I do! 7$ a bag though, I could eat 3 or 5 bags of it haha, gets expensive, usually I just dont eat then binge at the end of the day haha
That is true, it is expensive. Love your vid's, keep up the great work bud
You should striper fish in lakes is way more challenging
lol i dont think so, Its definitely different, but not harder.
Well unless you know what you are doing your better of in the ocean but if you know what your doing it is easy
Austin A you just live rig a nice size shiner off of a big float or small balloon in the evening lol.
Bang bang, striper on.
get some gar in man. killer vids esay.
Is gaffing not allowed in the Chesapeake?
not anymore no

Good stuff
awesome video!! wish I had your email so I can send ya a pic of the cobia my buddy caught, 61 inchs 80 lbs. citation for here in VA, off sandbridge pier
thats awesome I have fished that pier before, its crazy they catch these things from shore, makes me hate living in Philadelphia and fishing NJ haha
+Sea-Money Fishing hey man next time your in VA remember my channel and hmu, I fish the bay, rudee inlet, all of va beach area and so forth. I'm like 30-45 mins from the bay bridge
Nice fish
What kind of bait did you use???
Nice chemtrails in the sky !
I caught a 18 pound alligator gar today
nice domo hat
Why is that guys face covered with the yellow thing
They are face masks that block sunlight and wind. They are cheap and way more convenient than constantly applying sunscreen. Charter captains use them alot because they are exposed to the sun & wind at least 4 - 8 hours every trip.

Sun protection
+DaYDreaMz MMO-RTS Mainly sun protection.
Yes it can. Those boats go over 40 mph and the wind does a number on your face, especially during the colder months.
I live in Frederick Md
like before watching ;)
that was sick
