    Im 13 and I caught my first cobia this summer the same way. He was 48 inches and 38 pounds it took me 20 minutes to get him in. It was one of the best days of my life!

      A helpful tip is to use flair Hawks in Florida. They catch big snook and redfish.

    How is it you fished without polaroids for so long?
    I think you're going to be amazed at the stuff you will see now.

    Cobia!!! I also saw Joe (ComeOnFish) caught one recently from kayak. I might need to get down there soon. I live off 95 in Woodbridge so CBBT isn't too bad of a drive

    • @ChrisMcIntee
      @ChrisMcIntee  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      from the kayak it is so much harder, not being able to sight cast them from the tower, I saw comonfish's video, he is the man haha, but yea they are down there, seems like anywhere in the lower chessie or ocean front could be really good on any given day, but theyre very elusive fish, the guys who captain these trips are putting in a ton of miles and hours to get on them, this day we had would be a slow day for down there, I think whenever I fish with my buddy Bill we always have a slow day because we are cursed haha

I'm going back to Costa Rica for vacation last time I was there I caught a rooster fish on a charter but this time I'm bringing my own gear and trying to catch one myself! Good luck and tight lines Chris!

    See the great part about a fishing channel like this is that you dont have to hear anyone in the comments bitching and whining about clubbing the fish over the head to kill it 😅

    • @KFieLdGaming

      Exactly. And it's more humane than simply throwing it in the cooler to die slowly so it's a moot point regardless.

    hey chris, I'm planning on doing some surf fishing for browns this weekend and i have some leftover bunker thats frozen from a few weeks ago. When i bought it they said it was fresh frozen. Anyways, do you think i could still have success with this old bunker?

    • @TjMinutillo7
      @TjMinutillo7 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it should work if they're around but there are better alternatives.

    • @ChrisMcIntee
      @ChrisMcIntee  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TJ is right, its better than nothing and will definitely work but the fresher the better. With frozen, a lot of times the meat turns to mush real quick, the head chunks would probably be your best bet, definitely worth a try though!

  • @trek800z8
    @trek800z8 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    do you catch your fresh bunker when you target browns or do you buy it if so do you know where i could buy some fresh bunker near ac?

    • @ChrisMcIntee
      @ChrisMcIntee  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually buy it, although by this time of year it is tough to find as most shops only carry frozen, however, try giving 24/7 bait and tackle a call and see if they have anything fresh. bunker is good but any other fresh fish is just as good, 24/7 is prob your best bet. Also you should be able to find some kingfish around the inlet or beaches or even backbays there in AC, small hooks and little pieces of clams/bloods can get you the freshest bait around (kingfish). Croaker, spot, and every fish you can get is good bait for sharks. Riptide bait and tackle in Brigantine def has frozen mackerel which isn't bad, I have seen some large sharks taken on frozen mackerel recently

      We got lucky- got the call on the radio from other guys who were bailing them on fly rods. I managed a 47 pounder off on an OBX pier on a live bluefish at the end of June, but nothing beats watching them eat a sight casted bucktail

      @ChrisMcIntee  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      theyre strong, oh yea, I am happy to have experienced some cobia and cobia fishing however I wasn't able to hook/land one myself which has left me wanting to try again even more... I'll be trying to get back down there at least a couple more times before they migrate too far south

    • @randymarsh6527
      @randymarsh6527 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sea-Money Fishing Yeah, I noticed you weren't as excited as I thought you'd be once he handed you the rod, and I figured it was because you weren't able to hook them yourself. I did watch a video from a couple days ago of someone getting some cobia off the concrete pillars at chesapeake bay bridge tunnel on a kayak... So at least they are running down there, might be worth the trip for you to take the chance.

    Aren't Cobia a fish that is sometimes seen swimming by the belly of whales, Whale Sharks and other large sharks like Great White's ? I know Wrasse do this too, because they are the cleaning fish too.

    • @markbeggsfishing9467
      @markbeggsfishing9467 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Caught them off manta rays in the gulf

    • @flashy5150
      @flashy5150 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Beggs Fishing That's what it is. I was watching another fisherman sight fishing for them, and they would wait until they would see a ray and try to cast near it or behind the ray, and they usually caught a Cobia. Thanks, I was trying to remember that.

    • @flashy5150
      @flashy5150 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DeadlyUnited Thanks for the info, you are right about the remora attaching itself to larger animals like rays, whales, sharks etc., but the cobia is known to follow behind rays to scavenge -- I just wiki'd it. -- and I guess this is why fisherman try to find rays to cast their lines near or behind them, because they know there's probably Cobia behind it. I saw a video a while ago when they were catching Cobia this way and us talking about it just refreshed my tired memory. Cheers

    What setup do you use for surf fishing?

    • @ChrisMcIntee
      @ChrisMcIntee  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      a 10'-12' rod that throws 2-8 oz generally. Also a big reel in size, 6000-14000 depending on what you're trying to do

    • @danstephens1388
      @danstephens1388 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Primarily I am looking to get into river fishing for stripers, since I can't always get down to LIS, the tidal creeks and rivers are much closer, but still need something longer than 6ft to reach the fish, I've been told. (Been using a 6ft medium freshwater for a while but wanted to get into some bigger stuff.)

      They are face masks that block sunlight and wind. They are cheap and way more convenient than constantly applying sunscreen. Charter captains use them alot because they are exposed to the sun & wind at least 4 - 8 hours every trip.

      Yeah after watch it a little longer I kind of thought that might be the case. I didn't know if he didnt want to be on camera or not lol. Do you think driving that boat like that for 8 hours could give him like wind burn or something? is that such a thing?

      Yes it can. Those boats go over 40 mph and the wind does a number on your face, especially during the colder months.
