It is annoying how DOT has languished while follow up attack character keep coming out in quick succession. Jiaoqiu is the first in a while, but they made him without any healing ability despite being a physician in the story.
cuz dot got it's moment now fua is getting it's moment. and dot is gonna come back again. remember kafka and BS are still slaying the charts they don't really NEED as much help
I wonder if Nihility MC is going to be Wind considering they already have fire and physical types, and it will be a bit pointless if they’re lightning so you can’t pair them with Kafka (she needs 3 different DOTS) so Wind makes the most sense
tbf Jade is Blade support, but you need E1 for her to be good outside of PF, and Jiaoqiu is a good DoT support but he needs E2 to surpass a character like Ruan Mei or Robin on those teams. Both archetypes just need a dedicated Harmony character since they already have good dedicated DPS characters and plenty of healer/shielders that work with them.
How would you think HP drsin support would work? Maybe they buff like crazy if a character drains HP on their turn or something? I know jingliu and blade both benfit from boosting party HP and damage%. Curious if you have a creative idea.

Nihility Trailblazer Path: Nihility Element: Ice Stats: (Level 80) Health: 1087 Attack: 664.24 Defense: 512 Speed: 104 Basic Attack: Frost Blast: Deals Ice DMG equal to 50% of “Trailblazer’s” Attack to a single enemy 2 times Skill: Arctic Circle: Deals Ice DMG to all enemies equal to 30% of “Trailblazer’s Attack 3 times. Then, creates an Arctic Circle field for 3 turns that allows DoT to Crit. The Crit Chance is fixed at 50% and the Crit Damage is fixed at 100%. Ultimate: Abyssal Whiteout: (Cost:120) Deals Ice DMG to all enemies equal to 40% of Trailblazer’s Attack 5 times. If Arctic Circle is active, increase the fixed Crit rate for DoTs by 25% for 2 turns. All Frostbites DoTs on the enemies hit immediately deals damage equal to 100% of the original damage and if Frostbite is at 9 stacks, 100% base chance to freeze the enemy for 1 turn. Honestly, we just need a pure DoT support, someone that buffs dots by making them crit, trigger twice or reduce toughness when they deal damage, and then DoT will be back in vogue. Kafka is an evergreen unit as long as they dont release a stronger dot activator,(and if they do, just run both of them) Black Swan does great damage and has support capabilities in non DoT teams. The team is alright in the current meta, but once we get a true "DoT support" then the team will truly be complete.
It reminds me of how Topaz and Ratio used to be without Robin and Aventurine, once we get dedicated DOT harmony and sustain the team will be much better
One issue that holds DoT down a lot is that the best options for a DoT team are all almost exclusive characters, it stinks that there aren’t any good 4*s that have been coming out with DoT playstyle in mind. Literally waited a year to get Huohuo because she’s the best sustainer for DoT so any 4* healer that has a skill or passive where DoT damage heals like that one blessing in SU would be an interesting concept for a DoT sustainer.
9:51 I mean, according to kafka's lightcone, patience is all you need, so I'm optimistic that dot will get a great resurgence in terms of units and popularity
DoTs are missing DPS. You pretty much can only tackle Lightning & Wind. The 4* DoTs are so far behind compared to the rest of the game. Even Luka is better as a Budget Boothill rather than DoT. There's also the fact that Kafka is mandatory for DoT at the current game state. They can make enemies with 1000 SPD to make Kafka irrelevant, but it'll also hurt DoT at the same time since the debuffs will go away sooner. Another way is to release more enemies with Shield since DoT can bypass shields completely. In terms of character, I want to see a character that can make enemies move faster (Asta but for enemies) but make them deal 50% less damage so you won't die from getting hit. Although a more realistic approach would be a Freeze Spamming unit since enemies will move 50% faster when Frozen. I can also see them releasing Quantum/Imaginary unit that deals DoT damage just to increase the archetype's viability instead of just being locked to only 4 elements.
i feel like its fine tho since feixiao is coming out who is a wind unit and Acheron now reclaiming her title as best dps with jiaoqiu wind and lightning are probably gonna stay relevant for a good while maybe fire too idk tho
So according to leaks, 3.0 patches have mostly destruction and nihility characters. It is also said that the new gamestyle in 3.0 revolves around health manipulation so, not only theres lots of chances for the third dot character to come in the new world but the blade team might also come by. The thing about dot, is we already have an enabler with kafka and dmg with swan, but now we need a character to puts 2 dots instead of 1, cus the 50 stack from black swan usually reaches 20 in a normal game, but if a character comes by that puts way more dots for the arcana to stack that would fix everything, instead of having 2 dots, with this new character we would have 4, so its way easier to stack the arcana. Also im just hoping they make a new special dot like the arcana, and they make an ice or quantum dot character instead of fire and bleed.
Another DoT that applies dot, buffs all DoT, can detonate it like Kafka, is SP positive and increases team speed or has action advance. A better Sampo really with additional perks.
Not really unless you play on Auto. She isnt really SP hungry if you manual but i think Mihoyo wants people to buy that Huohuo E1 for extra heal turn + spd buff (which result in a SP positive Huohuo and give DoT team the SPD they need)
I think that the devs are testing out several future possible metas and mechanics in the current 2.4 event, Trailblaze: Friendship is Magic!, such as summon and HP scaling metas. One of the five missions includes two DoT units, Black Swan and Sampo, with Luocha, Asta, and summon trashcans (minicans) which can apply DoTs to enemies. More new destruction, erudition, and nihilty units appear to be on the way. A certain 5* fox girl seems to be (fire?) nihility. So don't despair, DoT lovers. By the way, in that 1.4 Pokémon-like summon event Aetherium Wars, I primarily used a DoT team to win everything, including the finale. It was fun to see enemies die on their own turns.
I think Constance (from the Annihilation Gang) will be to DOT what HMC is to break teams. Hoyoverse wouldn't waste that many resources designing those characters just for Acheron to cut them out of existence. She killed Duke Inferno, but I genuinely believe we're going to see his children make their debut sometime in the next year.
HSR is quite stale the last couple of patches. Besides the current one the game is only about break and follow up. Everything else is kinda dead. I hope they soon remember there is other stuff besides follow up and break all the time. At least it feels that way. I also think the tight banner placements to build some teams are really aggresive. But noone is complaining about it at all.
there's rumors we are gonna start getting only one banner per patch, so the problem of too many characters might get solved, but I agree, Break has been being sold too hard for my taste, they even made a whole SimUni expansion just to sell break. IMO we should go back to early rotations, where the turbulence was always generic, like "regenerate energy" ,"push hunt and destruction chracaters to the top of the action line at the start of the cycle" or "summons a trotter and when you kill it you get a huge attack buff" It was much more fun compared to "break the boss with a billion toughness bar to do big dmg", or "do a billion hits on the boss (wink wink follow up) and the turbulence does a billion dmg in return"
we don´t need less banners, we need more free pulls because 4 stars in this game are barely viable without eidolons and the game is in need of so many units, we need dot units, more break units, follow up is always in need of new units since they play very different like counter, hunt or aoe follow ups, hypercarry need more units and we probably gonna see totally new team comps arround summons
@miramaxcinemax5512 how were those more restrictive than the break buffs? There's like 20 different hunt and destruction DPS, meanwhile there's 2 break DPS. Anyway, these were just examples. My point was that the turbulence used to be generic, you could use pretty much any ok DPS and they would benefit from it. Nowadays we only get the "Firefly buff", the "Jade buff", the "Yunli buff", its pretty fucking boring
I am in the same boat as you, I love DOT so much! I really put the effort into it. However, due to the nature of DOT being based element, there can only be 4 DOT units… (that’s not to say Hoyo can’t be creative and give us an Imaginary DOT unit, but you get the point) Both Break & Follow up have many more shoes to fill, it is not as restricting as DOT. Because DOT is niche, and restricted to 4 Elements, it becomes difficult to make multiple DOT units of the same DOT type, just look at Black Swan & Sampo, imagine another limited Wind DOT, they will swallow each other alive, they are contesting for the same spot. They can’t live in harmony, but like March 7th & Dr Ratio. They must be careful how they handle the Remaining DOT units, it makes sense for them to spread them out like this. (We need 2 more (Physical & Fire), a Sustain DOT Unit & a Buffer DOT Unit) I really thought the Sustain DOT was going to be Jiaoqiu.. but this is all my Opinion. 🙂
I think that they are saving the 3rd DoT best in slot for Nihility Trailblazer, so that he can be played with her mom on the same team, it is a stupid guess, but if i am right, it would be so funny, like with harmony trailblazer making superbreak a thing, nihility tb could make a thing with DoT, like DoT being able to crit, or making DoT damage increase a lot, it would be funny
Besides, if DoT somehow got a full team, like super break, having a DoT focused 5 star sustainer/buffer and the 3rd DoT character, DoT would be not only insanely strong, but also really fun to play with
DoT found dead in a ditch. No joke, I only see DoT being viable in current endgame modes when it gets a turbulence blessing or when you vertically invest in Kafka and BS. Specially now since Hoolay is gonna move at the speed of light, DoT is gonna even start to struggle with uptime issues on the actual debbufs
@hallyuniverse that's what I'm saying, DoT nowadays is only viable with multiple eidolons and lightcones, to the point where you are better off pulling an e0s0 Yunli, or an e0s0 Firefly and getting the same results
Dots are stills great. Especially in pure fiction. But we haven’t got any new dot units Since black swan. I hope they’ll make a new one. Like a physical dot units like Lucas but that isn’t single target and that has stronger dots could be an insane dot units. Bleed is pretty good
But at the same time, hoyo seems almost scared to release another dot lightning character (no Acheron doesn’t count) because people will compare them to Kafka and see them as not valuable so they kinda designed themselves into a potential trap
I mean tbf theres a lot they could do with DOT other than lightning nihility. I wouldn't mind a 4* in that combo thike they have in the other DOT elements, but for 5* i thibk there are a ton of other options they can go for. Alternatively they could do something where they synergize with Kafka in some way, like crit DOT or enemy speedup but needs kafka to detonate
I think the rumored DOT character reruns coming in 2.5 signal it'll be getting another character soon. It was very strong for a long time, and is still highly rated in both MoC and PF tier lists. I think it'll be strong again once it gets a proper DOT-focused support, which I'm hopeful will be coming in 2.7 or 2.8.
@@PahlawanMerdeka Really hoping she's a DOT support, maybe with DOT Crit like in DU, and can replace Ruan Mei / Robin. The "resurrection" hint has me a little concerned she might be a DOT sustain, and that's why they took Jiaoqiu's healing off of him. But she's classified as Nihility because she can't solo-sustain on her own and needs a DOT team to make it work. Meaning we're still going to need Ruan Mei, Robin or Jiaoqiu to buff.
I don't think DoT is dying. It is still one of the most consistent Teams, if build correctly. However, the problem with the current best DoT-Team is that it consists of exclusive characters only (Kafka, Black Swan, Ruan Mei or Robin, Huohuo or Aventurine), so it is far from accessible to the regular f2p player. Without spending money, chances of getting the required units are pretty slim. Also, Dot tends to be a bit slower than other teams playstyle wise since some of the damage require multiple stacks of the same dot debuff (in Contrast to Firefly Break, Acheron debuff and FuA Teams which are mostly much faster).
@@GreenhouseGoblin next MC path is rumored l be summon based. Even if its not you can expect it's gonna be a new meta of something new. That's why you shouldn't pull for an old meta style like hypercarry or DoT today
Nah DOT is just incomplete like FUA used to be before Aventurine and Robin, and it's still performing better than hypercarry comps. As soon as they're willing to release more DOT units it will jump in the meta again
@@dante19890 Meta shifting doesn't mean they stop supporting established archetypes lol, do you think they will stop releasing FUA and Break when they stop being meta ? As long as they have ideas for these archetypes then they can easily add more units, heck they're even willing to copy paste kits (like Clara and Yunli)
There is a LOT of potential interactions with DOT missing that i can see comming in a character kit in the future, like, imagine a DoT sustain character that makes so DoT works like a lifesteal where the team regens HP equal to the amount of DoT the enemy takes every turn, or a hybrid followup unit that trigger a followup everytime a DoT is triggered
Yeah unfortunately the best option is E2 Jiaoqiu with Swan LC for an actual DoT DPS, but that requires crazy investment and you also probably also want Jiaoqiu's LC on Swan (with BS being E1) and Kafka E0S1 at minimum. Just requires a lot of investment to make DoT perform like Acheron or Firefly F2P teams. We really need a Physical 5* DoT character.
Dot is not forgotten. Honestly its kafkas fault. Dot got its buffs, lackluster without kafka because she op. Then they stepped away but kafka is so universal she gets indirect buffs.

A charatcer that procs DOT on ally turns! Like a charge that procs it at start of ally turn This makes it less reliant on enemy turn and brings some of the backloaded damage to the front while still staying traditional damaging over time

Since JQ does work in DoT I think the hypothetical new DoT unit you talked about at the end would be best as a physical Bleed based unit, sure we have Luka but he's only single target. Let's get an AOE bleed unit!
I've seen boothill dot teams so I'm not too sure, I think they would be more likely to explore ice quantum or imaginary afterall 5 stars usually have something to differentiate themselves like making non-dot elements do dot
Nope. the DoT will never die and still revelance in many contents. People still underestimate the DoT team, they're very strong and dependable to clear all contents
I also don’t want DoTs to crit. I’ve decided to make DoT my primary team and Break my secondary team, partially because I don’t want to worry about crit ratio. I’ll gladly hunt for atk%, Break effect, and speed. Fuck the 2:1 ratio.
ive played alot of MMOs and other games with well designed dot focused characters and what always breaks dots in RPGs is 2 things Haste on dots as in they proc way more or allowing dots to crit these are the 2 things that would be break DOT characters in this game
I only have Kafka and Huohuo and want to get into DoT but there aren't many options and I don't want Black Swan, so my hope is that we get more love for DoT soon
Some aspect of DOT will always be held back by the fact that three elements have no synergy with it. A DOT booster would be cool, maybe a flat DMG boost to all dots based on the character’s specific scaling or a domain that prevents DOTs from expiring when they trigger. I’m still holding out for Constance (and hoping she’s a Fire DOT support)
We need a 5* Physical DoT support/sub-DPS type character. Physical is the strongest DoT but all we have is Luka. A DoT Harmony unit that enables DoT to Crit would be kinda crazy too.

i'm confused, from the first time acheron release, i always cleared pure fiction and MoC easily, with always using DoT team (acheron, black swan, kafka, huohuo) for part 1 or part 2 (depend on the enemy list) absolutely irreplaceable, i never use other team for DoT team, so i'm confused what do you mean DoT are forgotten
Dot need it's own Ruan Mei or Robin Support for Dot. IF you say what would the support do. 1 Places it own Dot on the enemy. 2 Attack/Damage increase to the Team. 4 Give energy to the Whole Team.
It's still good. I been playinig on a second account and focused a bit on the Dot characters. They been doing amazing work. I was able to get to max world with ease using them. On a side note. Break Kafka is amazing. I use the Break artifacts with her, and she been a total baddie in combat. She has yet to lose her title as my Star Rail Queen. No one besides Acheron melts like her. Dot needs a solid healer. Someone who does the dot damage but gives our characters healing over time as well. May be make it an Ice type? The game needs some more Ice love.

Just throwing this out there. Imagine if instead of having kafka work with dot, it was fua. Every time an enemy is hit with an fua they get 1 stackable debuff, after it reaches 5 stacks kafka hits them with st dmg +more per ally with a fua, and resets the count. She has an aoe skill that adds a stack on each enemy. Like damn chill girl.
I feel like Constance will be the one who saves life drain or Dot, 80% Dot 20% Life drain, as she's currently working together with Black swan in the story(and life drain is an option due to her lore as apart of the annihilation gang)
And isn’t Rappa supposed to be a weakness break character as well? 😂😂 I want to pull Kafka but idk if I should. I have black swan so I feel like she’s being wasted without Kafka.
I love DoT team but i must admit its not doing well in the current time compared to other archetype like FuA / Break. The best Harmony for DoT was Mei but Mei with Break team outperforms DoT so much. Even BS as main DoT DPS right now without having high Eidolon will have hard time to reach her highest possible Dmg [50 stacks]. DoT needs a dedicated DoT Harmony that address their problem
DoT team also is the most expensive team right now imo. It needs Eidolons on almost all members to deals great DMG but its DMG isnt on par with the investment compared to the cheapest team of Break (FF) and premium FuA team. I'd say its about time Mihoyo gives something nice to DoT

I don't like Kafka and Black Swan so I physically cannot play DoT. There is still the Suspicion mechanic that hasn't been tapped into in a character kit, so I hope we get a couple of new characters that work with that.
How do you make another dot that is better then Kafka but wouldnt replace her (since there are so few 5 star dots)....she had to be so complete as there wernt many at release. Idk

A second kafka is just going to be run along with the first one, because giving the dot team ANOTHER char that can proc the dots is going to skyrocket the damage in this regard dot and break are very alike: the OG break didn't work because it was inconsistent, so they added superbreak & boothill break self-proc and now it does wonders bc you can proc break however many times you like but for dots we dont have anything besides kafka herself
DOT hasn't complete it's "premium" lineup yet, unlike other team compositions. Yes, DOT is missing it's own Harmony that is specifically for it. As of now, it only has three "premiums" which are Kafka, Swan, and Huo. It needs the missing puzzle to complete itself. As many players can see, there is no dedicated Harmony for DOT. Even though Robin and Mei can fit into the final slot, those two aren't the final piece. They're just the best options available at the moment.

Kafka is too strong of a unit for physical DoT; the game is too new to have the 5* physical DoT unit as the enemies literally don’t have enough max HP to handle Kafka + RM + JQ + actually strong bleed
My nihility support for dot. () Talent: When enemy get inflicted with dot or refresh dot, they get 3 stacks of X. Each stack of X increase multiplier of dot on the enemy by 1%, max 100%. When X is bigger than 25, for every 5 crit rate () has, enemy receive bleed dot equal 0.5% of their hp at the start of their turn. Skill: Increase all enemy crit damage receive by 45% for 3 turn. Ult: All enemy receive XX, when enemy have XX, dot on them can crit, and the dot on them get detonate by 30% at the end of their turn. Create field, increase crit rate of all char by 30% crit rate of (), if ally is nihility, increase their crit rate by another 25%. When field is active, both side increase speed by 20% and ehr by 10%.
DoT team is my spoiled child 😂 and due to no upgrades available for dot,for now i focus on FuA because they are the next team i want to run 😊, so far i miss robin , topaz signature and feixiao with her s1 but at least fei is garantee , so i am half way i suppose. This 2 teams are the most interesting to me tbh and since my fua isn't completed yet i run argenti hyper time to time, for who i wait the energy support too, so currently there's too many things to pull for, wish me luck cuz i will need it lol 🥲
Maybe dot have the same problem that preservation has: can become op very quickly. I go nihility on SU and destroy everything in seconds and I dont even have Kafka.

Honestly, we just need a pure DoT support, someone that buffs dots by making them crit, trigger twice or reduce toughness when they deal damage, and then DoT will be back in vogue.
Kafka is an evergreen unit as long as they dont release a stronger dot activator,(and if they do, just run both of them) Black Swan does great damage and has support capabilities in non DoT teams.
The team is alright in the current meta, but once we get a true "DoT support" then the team will truly be complete.
It reminds me of how Topaz and Ratio used to be without Robin and Aventurine, once we get dedicated DOT harmony and sustain the team will be much better
One issue that holds DoT down a lot is that the best options for a DoT team are all almost exclusive characters, it stinks that there aren’t any good 4*s that have been coming out with DoT playstyle in mind.
Literally waited a year to get Huohuo because she’s the best sustainer for DoT so any 4* healer that has a skill or passive where DoT damage heals like that one blessing in SU would be an interesting concept for a DoT sustainer.

DoTs are missing DPS. You pretty much can only tackle Lightning & Wind. The 4* DoTs are so far behind compared to the rest of the game. Even Luka is better as a Budget Boothill rather than DoT. There's also the fact that Kafka is mandatory for DoT at the current game state.
They can make enemies with 1000 SPD to make Kafka irrelevant, but it'll also hurt DoT at the same time since the debuffs will go away sooner. Another way is to release more enemies with Shield since DoT can bypass shields completely.
In terms of character, I want to see a character that can make enemies move faster (Asta but for enemies) but make them deal 50% less damage so you won't die from getting hit. Although a more realistic approach would be a Freeze Spamming unit since enemies will move 50% faster when Frozen.
I can also see them releasing Quantum/Imaginary unit that deals DoT damage just to increase the archetype's viability instead of just being locked to only 4 elements.
i feel like its fine tho since feixiao is coming out who is a wind unit and Acheron now reclaiming her title as best dps with jiaoqiu wind and lightning are probably gonna stay relevant for a good while maybe fire too idk tho

So according to leaks, 3.0 patches have mostly destruction and nihility characters. It is also said that the new gamestyle in 3.0 revolves around health manipulation so, not only theres lots of chances for the third dot character to come in the new world but the blade team might also come by. The thing about dot, is we already have an enabler with kafka and dmg with swan, but now we need a character to puts 2 dots instead of 1, cus the 50 stack from black swan usually reaches 20 in a normal game, but if a character comes by that puts way more dots for the arcana to stack that would fix everything, instead of having 2 dots, with this new character we would have 4, so its way easier to stack the arcana. Also im just hoping they make a new special dot like the arcana, and they make an ice or quantum dot character instead of fire and bleed.
Nothing is ever certain with leaks tho, so we can only hope. 🙏
Another DoT that applies dot, buffs all DoT, can detonate it like Kafka, is SP positive and increases team speed or has action advance. A better Sampo really with additional perks.

I think that the devs are testing out several future possible metas and mechanics in the current 2.4 event, Trailblaze: Friendship is Magic!, such as summon and HP scaling metas. One of the five missions includes two DoT units, Black Swan and Sampo, with Luocha, Asta, and summon trashcans (minicans) which can apply DoTs to enemies. More new destruction, erudition, and nihilty units appear to be on the way. A certain 5* fox girl seems to be (fire?) nihility. So don't despair, DoT lovers.
By the way, in that 1.4 Pokémon-like summon event Aetherium Wars, I primarily used a DoT team to win everything, including the finale. It was fun to see enemies die on their own turns.
The third mission, Hazardous Waste Trashcan, is the DoT summon one. Summons inflict DoTs whenever they attack enemies.
The answer is yes until it isn’t. DoT has gotten fuck all since BS, and no I don’t count needing to pull E2 JQ as something.

I think Constance (from the Annihilation Gang) will be to DOT what HMC is to break teams. Hoyoverse wouldn't waste that many resources designing those characters just for Acheron to cut them out of existence. She killed Duke Inferno, but I genuinely believe we're going to see his children make their debut sometime in the next year.
HSR is quite stale the last couple of patches. Besides the current one the game is only about break and follow up. Everything else is kinda dead. I hope they soon remember there is other stuff besides follow up and break all the time. At least it feels that way.
I also think the tight banner placements to build some teams are really aggresive. But noone is complaining about it at all.
there's rumors we are gonna start getting only one banner per patch, so the problem of too many characters might get solved, but I agree, Break has been being sold too hard for my taste, they even made a whole SimUni expansion just to sell break. IMO we should go back to early rotations, where the turbulence was always generic, like "regenerate energy" ,"push hunt and destruction chracaters to the top of the action line at the start of the cycle" or "summons a trotter and when you kill it you get a huge attack buff" It was much more fun compared to "break the boss with a billion toughness bar to do big dmg", or "do a billion hits on the boss (wink wink follow up) and the turbulence does a billion dmg in return"
we don´t need less banners, we need more free pulls because 4 stars in this game are barely viable without eidolons and the game is in need of so many units, we need dot units, more break units, follow up is always in need of new units since they play very different like counter, hunt or aoe follow ups, hypercarry need more units and we probably gonna see totally new team comps arround summons

I am in the same boat as you, I love DOT so much! I really put the effort into it. However, due to the nature of DOT being based element, there can only be 4 DOT units… (that’s not to say Hoyo can’t be creative and give us an Imaginary DOT unit, but you get the point) Both Break & Follow up have many more shoes to fill, it is not as restricting as DOT. Because DOT is niche, and restricted to 4 Elements, it becomes difficult to make multiple DOT units of the same DOT type, just look at Black Swan & Sampo, imagine another limited Wind DOT, they will swallow each other alive, they are contesting for the same spot. They can’t live in harmony, but like March 7th & Dr Ratio. They must be careful how they handle the Remaining DOT units, it makes sense for them to spread them out like this. (We need 2 more (Physical & Fire), a Sustain DOT Unit & a Buffer DOT Unit) I really thought the Sustain DOT was going to be Jiaoqiu.. but this is all my Opinion. 🙂
I think that they are saving the 3rd DoT best in slot for Nihility Trailblazer, so that he can be played with her mom on the same team, it is a stupid guess, but if i am right, it would be so funny, like with harmony trailblazer making superbreak a thing, nihility tb could make a thing with DoT, like DoT being able to crit, or making DoT damage increase a lot, it would be funny
Besides, if DoT somehow got a full team, like super break, having a DoT focused 5 star sustainer/buffer and the 3rd DoT character, DoT would be not only insanely strong, but also really fun to play with

DoT found dead in a ditch. No joke, I only see DoT being viable in current endgame modes when it gets a turbulence blessing or when you vertically invest in Kafka and BS. Specially now since Hoolay is gonna move at the speed of light, DoT is gonna even start to struggle with uptime issues on the actual debbufs
E2 Jiaoqiu makes DoT good but that's crazy investment for something that performs like Firefly or Acheron F2P teams.

Dots are stills great. Especially in pure fiction. But we haven’t got any new dot units Since black swan. I hope they’ll make a new one. Like a physical dot units like Lucas but that isn’t single target and that has stronger dots could be an insane dot units. Bleed is pretty good
But at the same time, hoyo seems almost scared to release another dot lightning character (no Acheron doesn’t count) because people will compare them to Kafka and see them as not valuable so they kinda designed themselves into a potential trap
I mean tbf theres a lot they could do with DOT other than lightning nihility. I wouldn't mind a 4* in that combo thike they have in the other DOT elements, but for 5* i thibk there are a ton of other options they can go for. Alternatively they could do something where they synergize with Kafka in some way, like crit DOT or enemy speedup but needs kafka to detonate
I think the rumored DOT character reruns coming in 2.5 signal it'll be getting another character soon.
It was very strong for a long time, and is still highly rated in both MoC and PF tier lists.
I think it'll be strong again once it gets a proper DOT-focused support, which I'm hopeful will be coming in 2.7 or 2.8.

The "resurrection" hint has me a little concerned she might be a DOT sustain, and that's why they took Jiaoqiu's healing off of him. But she's classified as Nihility because she can't solo-sustain on her own and needs a DOT team to make it work. Meaning we're still going to need Ruan Mei, Robin or Jiaoqiu to buff.

I don't think DoT is dying. It is still one of the most consistent Teams, if build correctly. However, the problem with the current best DoT-Team is that it consists of exclusive characters only (Kafka, Black Swan, Ruan Mei or Robin, Huohuo or Aventurine), so it is far from accessible to the regular f2p player. Without spending money, chances of getting the required units are pretty slim. Also, Dot tends to be a bit slower than other teams playstyle wise since some of the damage require multiple stacks of the same dot debuff (in Contrast to Firefly Break, Acheron debuff and FuA Teams which are mostly much faster).

Nah DOT is just incomplete like FUA used to be before Aventurine and Robin, and it's still performing better than hypercarry comps. As soon as they're willing to release more DOT units it will jump in the meta again

It would be hella interesting if the summon meta was connected to DOT. So you would have more instances of applying/triggering DOTs by the summons
A DoT sustain would be really cool, esp since there's Nihility Blessings that do stuff like that in SimUni and DivUni.
There is a LOT of potential interactions with DOT missing that i can see comming in a character kit in the future, like, imagine a DoT sustain character that makes so DoT works like a lifesteal where the team regens HP equal to the amount of DoT the enemy takes every turn, or a hybrid followup unit that trigger a followup everytime a DoT is triggered

I don’t think DOT is dead. Hell I still use it a lot. I love DOT. The flavor of the moment is break obviously but that could change anytime.

Yeah unfortunately the best option is E2 Jiaoqiu with Swan LC for an actual DoT DPS, but that requires crazy investment and you also probably also want Jiaoqiu's LC on Swan (with BS being E1) and Kafka E0S1 at minimum. Just requires a lot of investment to make DoT perform like Acheron or Firefly F2P teams. We really need a Physical 5* DoT character.
Dot is not forgotten. Honestly its kafkas fault. Dot got its buffs, lackluster without kafka because she op. Then they stepped away but kafka is so universal she gets indirect buffs.

A charatcer that procs DOT on ally turns! Like a charge that procs it at start of ally turn This makes it less reliant on enemy turn and brings some of the backloaded damage to the front while still staying traditional damaging over time

ive played alot of MMOs and other games with well designed dot focused characters and what always breaks dots in RPGs is 2 things Haste on dots as in they proc way more or allowing dots to crit these are the 2 things that would be break DOT characters in this game
I only have Kafka and Huohuo and want to get into DoT but there aren't many options and I don't want Black Swan, so my hope is that we get more love for DoT soon

Unless you have sampo e4+ I’d recommend gui for dot and almost any harmony works as the other slot. Probably ruan Mei, robin and asta would be best
You could try hypercarry Kafka with Tingyun and Asta if you have Kafka's signature, otherwise you can just stick with Sampo or Gui.
Some aspect of DOT will always be held back by the fact that three elements have no synergy with it. A DOT booster would be cool, maybe a flat DMG boost to all dots based on the character’s specific scaling or a domain that prevents DOTs from expiring when they trigger. I’m still holding out for Constance (and hoping she’s a Fire DOT support)
We need a 5* Physical DoT support/sub-DPS type character. Physical is the strongest DoT but all we have is Luka. A DoT Harmony unit that enables DoT to Crit would be kinda crazy too.

It's still good. I been playinig on a second account and focused a bit on the Dot characters. They been doing amazing work. I was able to get to max world with ease using them.
On a side note. Break Kafka is amazing. I use the Break artifacts with her, and she been a total baddie in combat. She has yet to lose her title as my Star Rail Queen. No one besides Acheron melts like her.
Dot needs a solid healer. Someone who does the dot damage but gives our characters healing over time as well. May be make it an Ice type? The game needs some more Ice love.
I think Ice isn't considered as Dot. As for the healer. Huohuo is already there to fill the gap. Heals and buffs at the same time.

Just throwing this out there. Imagine if instead of having kafka work with dot, it was fua. Every time an enemy is hit with an fua they get 1 stackable debuff, after it reaches 5 stacks kafka hits them with st dmg +more per ally with a fua, and resets the count. She has an aoe skill that adds a stack on each enemy. Like damn chill girl.
I feel like Constance will be the one who saves life drain or Dot, 80% Dot 20% Life drain, as she's currently working together with Black swan in the story(and life drain is an option due to her lore as apart of the annihilation gang)
Maybe a new character that has the ability to increase the amount of dots. The rest of your team are able to apply at one time.
The way I view dot is just you never need to run it, at most you might need it for a pf but even then you always have an alternative option

I love DoT team but i must admit its not doing well in the current time compared to other archetype like FuA / Break. The best Harmony for DoT was Mei but Mei with Break team outperforms DoT so much. Even BS as main DoT DPS right now without having high Eidolon will have hard time to reach her highest possible Dmg [50 stacks]. DoT needs a dedicated DoT Harmony that address their problem
DoT team also is the most expensive team right now imo. It needs Eidolons on almost all members to deals great DMG but its DMG isnt on par with the investment compared to the cheapest team of Break (FF) and premium FuA team. I'd say its about time Mihoyo gives something nice to DoT

I don't like Kafka and Black Swan so I physically cannot play DoT. There is still the Suspicion mechanic that hasn't been tapped into in a character kit, so I hope we get a couple of new characters that work with that.

easily enough. A second kafka is just going to be run along with the first one, because giving the dot team ANOTHER char that can proc the dots is going to skyrocket the damage
in this regard dot and break are very alike: the OG break didn't work because it was inconsistent, so they added superbreak & boothill break self-proc and now it does wonders bc you can proc break however many times you like
but for dots we dont have anything besides kafka herself
DOT hasn't complete it's "premium" lineup yet, unlike other team compositions. Yes, DOT is missing it's own Harmony that is specifically for it. As of now, it only has three "premiums" which are Kafka, Swan, and Huo. It needs the missing puzzle to complete itself. As many players can see, there is no dedicated Harmony for DOT. Even though Robin and Mei can fit into the final slot, those two aren't the final piece. They're just the best options available at the moment.
and even huohuo is not quite tailor made for DOT.
How about a support that spreads the debuffs maybe like 1/2% dmg but yeah I love dots

Each stack of X increase multiplier of dot on the enemy by 1%, max 100%. When X is bigger than 25, for every 5 crit rate () has, enemy receive bleed dot equal 0.5% of their hp at the start of their turn.
Skill: Increase all enemy crit damage receive by 45% for 3 turn.
Ult: All enemy receive XX, when enemy have XX, dot on them can crit, and the dot on them get detonate by 30% at the end of their turn.

DoT team is my spoiled child 😂 and due to no upgrades available for dot,for now i focus on FuA because they are the next team i want to run 😊, so far i miss robin , topaz signature and feixiao with her s1 but at least fei is garantee , so i am half way i suppose. This 2 teams are the most interesting to me tbh and since my fua isn't completed yet i run argenti hyper time to time, for who i wait the energy support too, so currently there's too many things to pull for, wish me luck cuz i will need it lol 🥲
Maybe dot have the same problem that preservation has: can become op very quickly. I go nihility on SU and destroy everything in seconds and I dont even have Kafka.
