@kimsonrobinson3171 I mean, DoTcheron is a perfectly viable strategy too. I just fully cleared AS with Kafka/BS/JQ/Acheron as my second lineup after recently getting BS to E1 (everyone else is E0). Granted, typically you want a sustain on the team and it just worked out that this cycle you could get away without for the second half. But honestly, I'm convinced that in any scenario that is not strictly single-target, BS is probably E0 Acheron's second nihility BiS after JQ, ESPECIALLY if BS is E1.
Yeah, I had an idea for an Abundance unit that focuses on healing allies when their unique DoT-type status is triggered. Basically they’re focused on Bleed application and function like Black Swan if she was Physical Abundance, except where Black Swan gives Arcana as essentially an extra DoT and Epiphany as a 4-in-1 DoT, this unit would apply a status that acts as its own Bleed DoT that heals allies based on the unit’s EHR. I made the unit Abundance and require the DoT to be triggered to heal specifically to counter usability as an Acheron sustain, bc I don’t think making a sustain that follows Nihility would end up benefitting DoT as much as it would benefit Acheron, and Acheron can’t trigger DoT whereas the staple DoT unit Kafka can.
@@mouradsofian1724 i have one maybe THE support not only gives all members a damage boost, they also grant the team members to apply a random dot on a target, all while doubling the dots that the characters already apply
@@NEWLOOKKNICKS i also had similar idea of Doubling DoT Stacks/amount or instances. i wish this DoT unit also buffs speed and maybe eidolons would allow Crit DoT at fixed affixes like C2 Nahida for bloom hyperbloom burgeon... i just hope we get smth tbh ...
I think he already made one, where he talked about Preservation’s superiority over Abundance. Hoyo definitely know that too which is why they just REFUSE to give us new Preservation chars even the 4 stars, but instead kept giving us new Destruction/Erudition characters that nobody cared about.
I think the problem with preservation is how powerful it is, I mean we only have 2 limited preservation characters and those 2 alone make any team practically unkillable, and people asking for 4 star preservation units don't make any sense cause a 4 star preservation unit would just be bad or at most mid... preservation kinda needs to be 5 star unless they disguise a 5 star as a 4 star
Third!!! Not becoming commonly used doesn’t mean a bad unit. It’s just sad meta chasing people who want that 1% extra damage that says a character isn’t good anymore.
I think we are just waiting for a Nahida for them. I am imaging either a dot chain or aftertaste type of skill to spread dot damage between linked enemies, and/or someone who can speed up allies and perhaps remove dot limits / multiply all dots on the enemy / let them all proc at once. (So all 5 wind shear stacks can apply its damage at once and they can double the current amount of stacks on an enemy with their skill, removing an upper limit to dots like wind shear to maybe be 100 instead of 5 for example)
I don't know why Nihility units need effect hit rate and their debuff disappear in the next wave Meanwhile harmony character are so OP without any restriction
Debuffers are enemy reliant while Buffers are for the ally. You can't expect a disease to be spread when the carriers are gone. Harmony do have a restriction. Their buffs have a turn limit. And most if not all Harmony units are bad at auto-battle.
Buffs has always been the better option in turn based game since it sticks in the party even after the next wave of enemies. The only turn based game where debuffs dominates the playing field are the ones with PvPs like Epic7.
Buffs *tend* to be more limited, only affecting one person in the party, while debuffs help everyone even the supports. While this hasn't held true, you can see from version 1 how asta vs Pela the harmony had a weaker buff to account for ease of uptime
@@aaronscott7467 this is not true currently Cause every limited harmony can buff the whole team Robin : 50% dmg / 1000atk / 45% crit dmg Ruan Mei : 70% dmg / 20% res pen / weakness efficiency Hanabi : 50% dmg for the whole team We are not talk about 1.0 meta
“What happened to DOT?” Nothing. Which is the problem. NOTHING is being done to DoT. They rarely get MoC or PF buffs and they don’t get dedicated supports or sustains. Meanwhile Super Break was introduced in 2.2 and already has more 5 star characters dedicated to it than DoT which has been in game since Kafka’s release in 1.2. Follow Up has had a character in EVERY 2.x patch so far except for 2.0. 2.1 had Aventurine. 2.2 had Robin. 2.3 had Jade. 2.4 had Yunli. 2.5 had Feixiao. And they get the most buffs in MoC and PF bar none.
Yeah, the issue is the lack of characters who provide something good to the table for dot teams. Like yeah... Dot bis teams are Ruan Mei/Robin, HuoHuo, Kafka and Black Swan... but Ruan Mei and Robin are better used in FUA/break teams and HuoHuo only provides attack and energy. If there is a harmony unit that can enhance dot and give it a "Super state" like Super break from HMC, they could start to shine again. Like a super dot that breaks toughness bars and enhances dot dmg even further. Plus a sustain that provides their own dot. Or take a page from how Genshin created Emilie, just create a new Dot main dps unit and bump their multipliers to crazy ass numbers to make up for their backloaded damage.
I'm also willing to give FuA 2.0 as a patch too: While Sparkle is no Robin in terms of dedicated supports, she has a trait that's explicitly designed to make her better with characters that use abilities off-turn, whether ult or FuA. She was a pretty big boost for what existed of FuA units back then., although to be fair, that'd mostly have just been Topaz without Ratio and/or Jing Yuan.
same here after i got e1 blackswan and kafka, i havent invest too much in relics cause still at traces but it feels very good but the backload dmg really hurts
Its funny because Ruan Mei was the deticated DoT Harmony character. Some things of her basekit and especially some of her Eidolons just wont work for break and she got released way before they introduced the break playstile. The usually dont start with the buff for a team that does not exist so far.
DoT is currently the only Archetype that hasn't received any dedicated support and the last DoT character released was Black Swan which was months ago. And if the rumors that the game will lean towards a Summon META are true it will be a LONG TIME before DoT gets any attention again.
DOT just need a harmony character dedicated for DOT .. Ruan mie is great and can't have DOT team without her .. but she genraic not tailor made for DOT
@@rushalias8511 pre-ruan mei, asta was a great option for kafka teams (i used to play kafka/asta/tingyun/natasha back in the early days), but i think a 5* harmony or nihility unit who can advance enemies forward while reducing their atk significantly and extending debuff uptime is the solution to DoT. they would also synergize well with counter characters like clara/yunli/blade/aventurine, potentially freeing up other harmony characters for different teams if players don't have a DoT team
if anything, robin especially e1 is better than RM on a DoT team that includes kafka, since having DoT trigger from her is far more reliable than having to trigger DoT on enemy turn
The thing really holding Kafka and Black Swan back in my opinion is the lack of a character that applies a massive amount of different dots, because that’s how both Kafka and Black Swan deal the most of their damage. Sure, a dot harmony buffer would be good, and so would a dot healer or shielder, but what really matters to dot teams is the dots themselves.
There is a lot to upgrade for DoT, a real DoT Preservation or a DoT Harmony would be the obvious way. Maybe one day, DoT will return, stronger than ever.
I think it will, they just need to get their head out of FUA and Firefly's asses first. Notice I said Firefly. Boothill's best teammate is Bronya 😆(My queen still holding her own).
I brainstormed a single-target Fire DOT unit who works like Tristana in that you stack her DOT until it explodes and that explosion triggers other DOTs. It can be stacked by other DOTs, too
We all know why they haven't gotten a support or another dot dmg dealer. Its cuz they would just be added to acherons teams and make her even more broken
Not really, as long as the new DOT character doesn’t apply their DOT more often than any of our current ones then it’s no form of power creep for Archon teams
well a dot support doesnt nessecarily have to be a nihility unit and dotcheron isnt nearly her best team obviously. You could have a ruan mei that gives a buff that applies to dots as well they themselves dont need to have a dot but simply doing something to the character that also benefits their dot does wonders
I don't really think characters that play hard into DoT on the level Harmony TB, Ruan Mei and Gallagher playing into Firefly would be much help to Acheron. Stuff on that level would be characters who would make DoTs crit like in SU or heals the party whenever a DoT ticks
Weren't there rumors sometime ago that The Rememberance would become a playable path? But even if not, what I'd love to see is maybe an Ice Nihility/Abundance (or Rememberance if it ends up being a playable path) character who can advance enemies while simultaneously increasing their damage recieved during their own turn and freezing them and have some form of heal in their kit to act as a sustain.
@@sauce5097 still doesnt make much sense when you consider that there are already characters with summons tho, in this case why we dont also make path for DoT and fua playstyles aswell
I had an idea for a Nihility abundance character that can heal their alies by aplying DOT´s on them. When they use their skill, you can select an ally and aply a random dot on them. When an enemy puts a DOT on your teammates, they also get healed. With their ultimate, they switch the DOT´s from allies to the enemies side, making it so that they can still put DOT´s on the enemy. For their passive they could increase DOT damage by 15 or 25-ish percent. Now that I think about it, this person could be a follower of the Equilibrium. What do yall think about this kit?
The easiest way for DoT to end up back on stage is a unit that is also part of the Summons meta, specifically a character that can activate any type of DoT in several instances (the character and his summon have their own ways of activating dot 3-4x per turn), this way it is possible to “circumvent” the limitation of Black Swan's trace of allies being able to get a maximum of 3 stacks per action, something that Kafka is very limited to in the sense of only getting 3 to 6 stacks, if she has her ultimate, on fast enemies (which are very present nowadays and faster enemies = less effectiveness for DoT characters since it is a smaller window of space to be able to stack, and DoTs exploding without stacking hits like wet noodles). This way it is possible to have a way of making DoT a more “frontloaded” style without depending on the enemy's turn, however, still maintaining the essence that when the enemy's turn arrives, an explosion will occur, and the frequente of 3-4 activations its not over damage, after all, Enemies are becoming increasingly tankier and faster, and if DoT doesn't keep up in effectiveness to overcome these new barriers, they will fall further and further behind and there will be no harmony that makes Dot crit that will save the niche, only alleviate the inevitable problem of the team composition. And well, if Kafka ends up losing space in this, it is what it is, there are already rumors of a new path and form for other 5* characters (she being one of these characters) and honestly, an entire niche being locked behind just 1 character is pretty boring, after all, the units in this niche are eventually “hostage” to Kafka's kit design problems that, whether we like it or not, end up limiting the potential of this niche, so the best way to get around this is to have more frequent activators and eventually be able to use other composition options in the future, because it's kind of delulu to think that Kafka will forever be the only DoT activator, especially with the chance of gaining a new path/kit.
Furthermore, along with this Summon character for DoT (which we already had a sneak peek at in the trash event of the last patch), a nihility that enhances DoT and possibly in E1/E2 makes DoT crit would be perfect to close the “premium composition” of BS - Summon - Nihility DoT Buffer, and being a Nihility they have the possibility to bennefict summons (as we already known that only specific harmony buffs can affect them, and we are going to a path in the future where nihility chars take some spot to generate a counterbalance with the dominance of harmony as supports), and Kafka may end up being directed to DoT in the Pure Fiction space, where she can ult very quickly using SH S5 and a ERR rope, being a great enabler for AoE and multiwave scenarios.
@@plackowaew2836 Black Swan, not DOT. This problem is entirely unique to Swan. She's an incredibly strong character, but incredibly hard to play and optimize damage windows around enemies' actions. Sampo's wind shears stack 5 times and last 3 turns. No enemy moves more than that unless your Sampo is piss slow, which he should never be. Basically can infinitely extend wind shears. Serval, not a DOT unit, can pretty much infinitely extend shock. Swan is a unique case, but this doesn't take away how incredibly strong she is.
That's also because there's no real way to use dots or anything, dots aren't really for acheron just debuffs and jiao already does both with his kit and then black swan is used for the arcana and defense reduction etc or pela as such adding in new dot characters wouldn't help Acheron so long as its not doing things to buff her but even she has fallen pretty hard with current updates as we see with both english and CN she isn't quite used as much everything is fua and break. Hypercarry hasn't necessarily fallen off but its not quite in the same benefits as both break and fua teams
@@justviniana fua is follow up attack, as for break teams yes hmc and ghallager is a 4 star but i never pulled him, I had to get lingsha instead and even then Im missing ruan mei and robin and don't have firefly or boothill so i use fill ins the best I can, as such the team relies on other 5 star units and as for follow up attack teams its the same missing a proper support and don't really have a sustain for them unless i use lingsha or lynx and only lingsha has some minimal synergy. Aventurine is coming so I can pull for him but I don't really like his character at all, but for later content hes basically a requirement and im at that later content. I have some supporting things for acheron, but I don't have jiao nor black swan etc.. so I have to use pela and again lacking on proper supports like ruan mei or robin and i don't have huo huo..
Or something like letting the team regenerate energy for each triggered DoT effect. They already have a lot of bases for characters in the Simulated Universe blessings imo. One of the reasons why i'm also convinced that at some point theyre gonna play around with Dissociation and making characters capable of applying it on enemies
tbh i was kinda glad that Jiaoqiu did not wind up replacing Guinaifen as the Fire Nihility option in DoT teams, so for the time being that slot is still vacant.
I think a dot support with an off handed ability to extend dot durations would go a long way, it would basically unlock black swans full stacks, and fix the problem of enemies being too fast and loosing their dots. Throw in some boosting of DOT damage specifically like e2 kafka and the character would put dot back on the map, less by being a good dot buffer and more so by just letting blackswan actually use her full damage potential. as for a dedicated dot healer, a bleeder that heals the party based on their bleeds, fingers crossed thats what the vampire stone heart lady does. and fingers crossed she is super important in version 3 so dot doesn't have to wait a million years for a heale
My problem with HSR is that any functional team to clear endgame content requires teams of exclusively limited 5 star characters (Except Superbreak but Gallagher has already been replaced)
Dot preservation that provides shields based on ally dots, maybe akin to "for each unique dot type/element" to incentivise coverage. Maybe a DOT nihility that has the ability to transfer DOTs from one enemy to another? Really just hope there's more love for DOT in the future, I love the other types but I pulled for Kafka because IT WAS KAFKA and not having the optimal opportunity to use kinda stinks
i have an idea for a DoT sustain, a physical preservation unit with breakable shields a la the og simulated universe shield curio, and for each layer of the shield breaks, it triggers dot on them as well as dealing a stack of bleed
A weak but an interesting choice is preservation mc or gepard with Trend of the Universal Market light cone can apply a fire dot on enemies i recommend trying it out
I actually like March 7th preservation with DOT. It's hard to solo sustain as her but that's why you run her freeze variant. SADLY, everything is like high as hell resistance to freeze so you HAVE to build her for freeze. And it's way too much work.
This, I have still been able to use my dot team comfortably, it's just that it's not the main focus of the game right now, having a higher interest in fua and super break right now.
Built my DoT team during 2.5 and i consider it an investment into the future of the playstyle. If Obsidian is the DoT sustain we hope she'll be that should help the team a lot. Her vampire inspired design screams Physical Bleed/Lifesteal, which would provide a massive damage boost for the team and healing, but this is all based purely on speculation with her design
I just want a place to use Guinaifen who's one of my favorite chars in HSR but I really don't care for all the nihility mommy chars. There's definitely room for more interesting additions here.
A preservation/abundance unit that can give a status that grants shields/heals for a precent of the dot enemys take would fill the role amazingly and keep it on dot specific teams
So many words that needed to be said..... just thank you. As very huge DoT enjoyer (started playing in 1.0 and collected 490 pulls for kafka) I`m so happy that someone notices this 😢😢😢
My buddy and I have been following this unwritten rule between us where I'm the nihility guy and he's follow up guy. In the beginning, I was the one prospering, but now I am kind of suffering. Good thing we didn't make any stupid unwritten rules about break teams because that has been my saving grace.
Imagine if we ever get a harmony character that allows for DoTs to crit, the amount of re-building we'd need to do to adjust for some crit stats but also the payout would be magnificent
A dot oriented Harmony Unit would be neat. They could potentially do things like allowing dots to do toughness damage or giving all dot damage sources a big damage.
Future characters will revolve around summoning mechanics and i do believe that there is a new end game content specifically made for summoners just like AS for breakers (firefly, rappa etc)
Imagine we get a Preservation version of Clara/Yunli (make them physical too cause Bleed) who has mechanics that support a DoT/Debuff team. We have plenty of mechanics like the Presevation/Nihility Bleed combos in SU/DU and Pure Fiction mechanics that can be tapped for a character kit. -Forced enemy action advance. -Extend Debuff duration. -Scaling effects based on number of enemy debuffs (not just DoTs like Kafka) A Clara that forces enemies to take turns without compromising debuff duration like Ruan Mei does would be a dream come true for DoT teams.
I think an ideal support for DOT would be something like an improved version of Guinaifen/Jiaoqiu; I had an idea of a Nihility character who grants DOT capabilities to all teammates, while additionally adding debuff effects based on those DOTS. It would improve both the DOT dmg and the dmg of the team in general
As someone who has played dot since kafka release, i think that the thing they need is a support, huo huo e1 gives speed and becomes sp positive, i got her e0 and later when i got the e1 she practicaly became the perfect healer, i know not everyone has huohuo and even less people has her e1 but dot can use characters like lingsha or gallaher due to how fast they break, making them a way to inflict burning and reduce the actions the enemy take(plus gallaher being extremely sp positive giving black swan a chance to use her ability more often) but they really can't make full use of the bonus robin, ruan mei or jiaoqiu give, it's not like they are weak but there's like 45% crit dmg from robin wasted, ult dmg bonus by jiaoqiu that is not fully used and the break buffs from ruan mei have more value with boothill or firefly, so a support whit full sinergy with dot would make a positive change in how the archetype can reach their full potential
I've always thought we need a physical preservation, one in which when any shielded ally gets hit there is a chance to apply bleed, a sort of spiked shield mechanic. If 4 star could apply a self-taunt to increase the chance of being hit, otherwise 5 star would apply shield to all party like aventurine. Maybe a passive that increases DOT damage of shielded allies or something.
We need a Bleed Based Sustain to round out the team, and that'll be its peak before we start replacing major units. We can also use a better Relic Set that could assist driving the engine or increasing damage, as Prisoner in Deep Confinement has an upper limit and does not really increase damage as it does reduce defense for the wearer specifically. We can do better relic wise with this. These are the two biggest factors we need right now more than anything to bring DoT to a completion and compedetive state. However, we're likely waiting till towards the end of 3.x for it to occur, unless we get another relic set early in 3.x. Also, JQ should not be underestimated as a support for DoT Teams. A lot of his kit increases global damage for all DoT sources and ultimates. We have 2 characters (Kafka and Black Swan) who still do decent ult damage when capitalized upon. Speed boosts form Ruan Mei feels redundant because most DoT Teams likely have the freedom to run high speed. And the higher investment, the more this goes up remember his E2 Tripples his DoT effect which is again driven further by Kafka. Robin's turn advance just holds a massive advantage over any other support right now. The fourth party slot could do well if it did something like taunting enemies to immediately attack, but with reduced damage output/effect hit rate and proccing all DoTs in the process. This would be an intresting reversal of the current "Act more than the enemy" mechanic by making the enemy actions less effective and taking full advantage of their turns. Overall, there's still plenty of room to grow with our current setup up and our last remaining dedicated party slot. Hoyo just has to get a bit inventive with it.
I have an idea for a dot unit which could be in the future summon meta. It might be a little overtuned but it’s something at least. TLDR: Applies a special dot, has a summon that retrigger dot damage, and has dot centric buffs and debuffs Sandra Path: Nihility Element: Fire Basic Attack: Candle Wisp: Deals Fire DMG equal to 100% of Sandra’s Attack to a single enemy. Advanced Soul Flame Lantern Action by 10% Skill: Deals Fire Damage equal to 120% of Sandra’s Attack to all enemies. Advanced Soul Flame Lantern Action by 30%. Ultimate: (Cost: 140 Energy) Deals Fire Damage equal to 240% of Sandra’s Attack to all enemies. Advanced Soul Flame Lantern’s Action by 100%. 100% Base Chance to inflict Haunted Inferno for 3 turns. Enemy’s inflicted with Haunted Inferno lose 20% of their effect resistance and enemy’s take 50% more DoT damage. Talent: Sandra’s Attacks have a 65% to inflict Haunted Blaze for 2 turns. Haunted Blaze deals burn damage to enemy’s equal to 280% of Sandra’s Attack. At the start of battle, summon the Soul Flame Lantern. The Soul Flame Lantern has an initial speed of 110. The Soul Flame Lantern records 40% of the DoT damage the enemy takes. When it takes action, deal damage to all enemies equal to 120% of Sandra’s attack, triggers all dots on enemies equal to 65% of original DoT damage, and deal damage equal to the recorded DoT Damage. After the Soul Flame Lantern takes action, reset the recorded value. Major Trace 1: Tactful Opportunist: When an enemy is inflicted with a Dot, regenerate 1 energy. When enemy receives DoT damage, regenerate 3 energy. Major Trace 2: Phantasmic Aura: Allies DoT Damage% is increased by 50% of Sandra’s Effect Hit Rate up to 70% DMG%. Major Trace 3: Baneful Rite: When the enemy takes DoT damage, Soul Flame Lantern’s action is advanced by 5%. When the Soul Flame Lantern takes action, all allies gain 3 energy (excluding Sandra) for every Dot on the enemy.
Funny enough, I mainly play Sparkle now in my DoT teams. I gave up trying to get 155 spd on my BS so I went full attack and EHR then used Sparkle and it actually worked. Sparkle's pulling, huge dmg buff, and SP recovery fits really well in DoT teams, granted her Crit dmg buff was pretty much wasted.
Hear me out, Ice preservation, on basic attack can inflict talent debuff. Talent: when the debuffed unit receives dot damage theres a chance for it to freeze. Ult grants team a shield and while their ult is active, Inflicting dots onto frozen enemies stacks a unique dot that deals ice damage. Skill can be anything honestly, some combination of aoe cleanse/Debuff resistance/increase damage reduction. Or flat out helping you freezing enemies. Maybe give them the Stat conversion treatment where you can build extra defense and it gives the whole team EHR after a certain threshold
DOT healer that stores damage dealt through damage over time and releases it when using their skill to heal the whole team, the more dot dealt before the next skill used, the more team wide healing
I guess that makes me relieved I never got Black swan and Kafka (THE DoT duo) and don’t plan to get them at this point 😅😅 love their designs but not enough to pull for them
I'm speculating that we'll get a dedicated preservation unit that can apply a very strong shield while forwarding enemies. As well as a harmony unit that gives dot a certain fixed chance to crit while increasing dot dmg.
Speaking of, it is entirely possible for a DoT Healer to be released... not a 100% sure release, but consequently it is not 0% either. The one thing that made me think of it was because of coincidences of having certain items/blessings/whatnot got similarities on characters released on the future patches. If we look back, we got a few Curios and Blessings that correlate to a character's kit. Notably we got Punklorde Mentality Curio (Silver Wolf's weakness implant) and Regression Inequality of Annihilation (Fu Xuan's damage mitigation/spread). And if push comes to shove, I can also argue that some of the weapons from the Galactic Baseballer have similarities towards March 7th The Hunt, Feixiao, and Lingsha's kits.
DoT would definitely skyrocket if there was a support character that can extend/amplify DoT, allow DoT to crit, or allow every current DoT on an enemy to deplete toughness when proc’d. The first would allow for Black Swan to not lose stacks of arcana too quickly so she can still rack up blast damage. The second would maybe be based off the unit’s crit stats and allow substantial damage when an enemy moves. The third would quickly break an enemy to allow more damage to be dealt and allows DoT units more turns to apply/stack DoTs. There could also be a support that can allow small action advance or speed boosts to characters whose DoT were triggered when an enemy moves, based on the amount of DoT the character had applied to the enemy before they moved. This would allow rapid reapplication of DoT. Another support could allow faster regeneration of energy based on DoT proc’d so that characters can use their ultimates more quickly. A DoT healer would be nice if they would apply healing based on some percentage of DoT taken at the start of the enemy turn, given to the character that applied the DoT-siphoning enemy health to heal your team over time or regenerate energy. A DoT sustain could transfer all DoT on the field on ultimate to a single enemy and randomly distribute the DoT to all enemies upon that target’s death, allowing characters to reflect enemy DoT. I think there’s so many avenues for Hoyo to go to make DoT viable again for fast content. There’s still so much potential for DoT-specific mechanics!
Man I just feel that black swan came out like yesterday. And she was strong at the time. Every pf was tied to her and I was angry I can't get full stars clear even with e2 Acheron(skill issue i know), and now she's not that super meta anymore. She's still usable I guess. But even jing yuan is usable with proper investment in supports.
We need a harmony character that is a specific buffer for DoT and also applies their own elemental DoT and DoT will be Amazing again. This will resolve the issue with 'it will become another Acheron support' since it is a harmony unit, also if want to further lock that character as a DoT support, make all the buffs only activated when triggering dots
We just need a sustainer that applies a dot that makes dot damage omni break and has an ult that gives us the nihility SU effect to heal from dot damage. DoT would still be slower than other comps but it would ensure longtime viability for the comp.
The only possible way I see DoT base teams getting a upgrade would be a dedicated harmony (support) character centred around status effects (DoTs), a abundance (healer) character that heals when the enemy takes DoT damage or a preservation (shielder) character that grants allies a shield that stacks over time whenever the enemy takes DoT damage (yes, sort of like Aventurine’s shield stacking but it’s around DoT’s not a Follow-up Attack). …we don’t NEED a DoT character to be apart of the Nihility category considering Acheron is a Crit base character that relies debuffs to gather charges for her ultimate. A character from another path eg; abundance or preservation but has DoT mechanic in their kit would work well (as stated above).
The reason why they removed Jiaqiou heal it's because he's nihility. They don't want to devalue abundance unit even more since they already struggle to keep up with their preservation counterpart
I'm a Summoners War Sky Arena regular where DOT was the go to dungeon team(it was enemy HP% based & only cared for acc/res check with even a dedicated exploder), it was so broken they had to modify higher dungeon bosses to be immune to dots so as to nerf it down completely. The main issue with DOT here is that it's unit atk based & with the ever increasing enemy HP pool, the dmg pales in comparison to active dmg methods. To mediate it, there needs to be introduced a unit that can multiply the dmg of a dot already on the enemy to a much higher value. The idea behind DOT shud be u take ur time/turns(effort) to stack enough DOTs on enemy to detonate once to end him or their HP goes to 0 within their 1st/2nd turn(return).
I have Black Swan, but when I got her I couldn't really utilize her as my only support at the time was Natasha, my damage dealers weren't up to snuff (plus I have terrible luck so I don't have many 5 stars) but I couldn't keep anyone alive (again, Natasha). So I rolled for Feixiao to see if she was the answer to my prayers...she was. Then I got Hunt March and that team became so much stronger, unfortunately, I had to bench Swan until I can get units that will "mesh" with her.
I think what DoT teams are lacking rn is an Imaginary Nihility unit that is able to apply at least 2 stacks of each DoT in the game onto enemies in form of AoE I've been cooking up a made-up OC using this idea and I think it should help fix DoT teams since Imaginary break can be quite helpful for breaking and delaying turns while also having a unit that is able to apply dots that does not match their element via other means (example being their ultimate)
Maybe a future harmony character (aside from Ruan Mei) that boosts DoT damage will potentially change the game for DoT teams, still I do feel like it's mostly in part with the current and previous buffs of end game contents (MoC, AS, PF) being more favored to other teams such as super break and follow up.
@@eraser2651 As stated, I commented before watching(slight mistake on my end) but what I meant was the engine of Kafka/Sampo and Black Swan was complete. They provide the engine while two other characters support the characters running it. Sorry if I misspoke in that sense. We do need a sustain that works with DOT and I wish Jiaoqou was a Nihility healer like he was meant to be or had his healing reduced.
They really need more 5-star DOT units, but I feel like their current designs painted them into a corner. For follow ups you can choose a combination of 1-2 of Feixiao, Dr. Ratio, Topaz, Clara, or Yunli, and even strong 4-stars in the form of March and Moze. For Break, your Main DPS can be either Firefly or Boothill, or you can cobble together a Super Break team with non-Break-specific characters that match the enemy element. But for DOT, the only strictly DOT-focused 5-star DPS are Kafka and Black Swan, and they're quite far ahead of the 4-star options. Thing is, what would a new DOT unit look like? If we look at the 4-stars, we can see that they can all retrigger their own kind of DOT (Guinaifen on Ult, Luka on Enhanced Basic, Sampo on Skill but only at E4 or higher). But Kafka can retrigger DOTs of ALL types, on both her Skill AND Ult, so it would be tough to replace her with a type-specific unit. What about a unit who cares about how frequently DOTs hit opponents? We already have Black Swan for that. She also gets the added bonus that her Arcana counts as all 4 types of DOT while enemies are affected by her Ult, so she could fit with any character who cares about a certain type of DOT. And since teams are generally limited to at most 2 DPS in order to have room for a Harmony and a sustain, those two are your only real choice for an optimal team. To change that, Hoyo would need to either: 1) Create a unit who straight up powercreeps Black Swan or Kafka 2) Create a unit who somehow does something different with DOTs and this "something different" is compelling enough to displace Black Swan or Kafka 3) Create a unit who synergizes with DOTs so strongly that it's more profitable to run them in slot 3 than a Harmony buffer 4) Add DOT into the other slots (a Harmony, Abundance, or Preservation character who inflicts or explicitly synergizes with DOT) Also, I'd like to see some better same-elemental-type synergies in general. Buffs like Asta's team Fire DMG trace, the Planetary Rendezvous light cone, and the Penacony planar set support same-elemental-type teams, but the power of those teams, outside of maybe mono-Quantum, don't generally come close to the role-based teams like Break and Follow Up. Maybe a new direction for DOT would be a character who offers a stronger payoff for amassing DOT effects than Black Swan does, but only for DOTs of their own elemental type. Another possible idea would be a character who applies three different DOTs with their Basic, Skill, and Ultimate respectively, of which any or all could exist on an enemy simultaneously, so now they can hit all enemies some but you have to prioritize which to hit hardest. What do you think? Do you have any ideas for a new DOT kit?
DoT team peaked with Guinaifen and Black Swan, and then we had Jiaoqiu, it had it's time. "Damage over time" just seems like a bad design for content that reward faster clear, it's "over time" after-all.... And then.....there is Raiden Acheron.
I thought kafka's ult only affected to shocked DoT, leaving wind shear, arcana and whatnot unaffected. PD: i just double checked, and It IS one of her traces that allows the ult to do all none electric DoT damage. So my bad.
If SU and the expansions are anything to go by DoT is the kind of mechanic that if it receives the right buffs it completely destroys the game balance. Considering how several units have been made with abilities similar to the buffs found there is just a matter of time.
Rumor has it theyre going to switch to summons (more fua), servants and placement playstyles. Its likely we'll get 1 or 2 more dot units. My hopes is that obsidian and 1 of the fate units jumps into the dot playstyle. Obsidian could be the first dual element character who acts as a bleed unit with a buff thats adds burn to a unit/servant. In the trailer it looks like she ate agate? who had a fiery stone. Im not knowledgeable of fate but if they have a knight/defender, maybe dot gets a sustain whose heals/shields scale with dot count or triggers. Or they can actually utilize the dot lc to apply freeze burns lol I doubt theyd do crit dots without some sort of stipulations since break bleed is absurdly strong in Lukas hands. Even with 50% crd thats 10.5 of max hp getting re-triggered numerous times. I just hope the devs remain smart and help raise their bar to match the other archetypes.
DoT ended being canibalized by Acheron, the only way that it could return is if they design enemies that are weak to DoT but not weak to Acheron (like Death), and of course, they will do that.
Pin me. DOT will come back.

5 star bleed dot would be so unbelievably strong
sooo... boothill ?
Give us a playable Igor Haft, Hoyo 🙏
as DoT main i say we need a specific DoT supp and sustain just like other archetypes.

Video Idea: Preservation: The Most Underrepresented Path in HSR in terms of character roster
Fun idea!
We really need another 4 star preservation 😞
I think he already made one, where he talked about Preservation’s superiority over Abundance. Hoyo definitely know that too which is why they just REFUSE to give us new Preservation chars even the 4 stars, but instead kept giving us new Destruction/Erudition characters that nobody cared about.
“There are like 7 Preservation characters and only like 2 of them are good”
*Video ends*
I think the problem with preservation is how powerful it is, I mean we only have 2 limited preservation characters and those 2 alone make any team practically unkillable, and people asking for 4 star preservation units don't make any sense cause a 4 star preservation unit would just be bad or at most mid... preservation kinda needs to be 5 star unless they disguise a 5 star as a 4 star
First!! As someone who is a Kafka main it kinda sucks how DOT is becoming less used :(
Second
Third!!!
Not becoming commonly used doesn’t mean a bad unit. It’s just sad meta chasing people who want that 1% extra damage that says a character isn’t good anymore.
How can you main a character in a game where you have to use multiple teams?
@@DemanaJaire lol xd
@@DemanaJaireI guess they just use kafka in every content that allows them to
I think we are just waiting for a Nahida for them.
I don't know why Nihility units need effect hit rate and their debuff disappear in the next wave
Meanwhile harmony character are so OP without any restriction
Debuffers are enemy reliant while Buffers are for the ally. You can't expect a disease to be spread when the carriers are gone.
Harmony do have a restriction. Their buffs have a turn limit. And most if not all Harmony units are bad at auto-battle.
Buffs has always been the better option in turn based game since it sticks in the party even after the next wave of enemies. The only turn based game where debuffs dominates the playing field are the ones with PvPs like Epic7.
Buffs *tend* to be more limited, only affecting one person in the party, while debuffs help everyone even the supports.

Nothing.
It makes me feel like the HSR devs forgot about the DOT composition after releasing Black Swan in 2.0.
@@PuddingQueen23DoT in HSR is what Cryo is in Genshin. It’s forgotten by the devs.

Real... For me it was a golden era. Kafka+Black Swan+Ruan Mei
Manifesting for obsidian to be bleed based abundance who slows enemies and gives a speed boost.
Just how Break used to be dependent on enemies regainint their toughness bar to break it again, so will DoT get more detonation sources.
It's still very effective. I don't have Robin or Averturne so my fua team kind of lacks. Dot with Kafka, black swan team is still usually my 2nd team
same here
same here after i got e1 blackswan and kafka, i havent invest too much in relics cause still at traces but it feels very good but the backload dmg really hurts
thats why you think dot is good, bcause your fua is shit!
if you had robin and aventurine, youd see how far away it is, you literally lack the strongest fua units
yeah, while it is currently one of the most neglected archetypes, it's still plenty usable.
As someone who started the game because of Kafkas release you just said everything i think about the situation great video.
Isn't that asta?
Applies burn on normal, can speed up kafka for triggers
And she raises attack with her talent so the dot dmg hits harder
@@rushalias8511 Asta is also generic .. but yeah you got a point .. however.. what's the point if she is a downgrade from Ruan Mie ..
@@rushalias8511 i mean, shes just a 4 star so she kinda limited on what she can do
if anything, robin especially e1 is better than RM on a DoT team that includes kafka, since having DoT trigger from her is far more reliable than having to trigger DoT on enemy turn
I just pulled Kafka to build a DoT team personally. Still feels pretty good to me
I brainstormed a single-target Fire DOT unit who works like Tristana in that you stack her DOT until it explodes and that explosion triggers other DOTs. It can be stacked by other DOTs, too
We all know why they haven't gotten a support or another dot dmg dealer. Its cuz they would just be added to acherons teams and make her even more broken
Not really, as long as the new DOT character doesn’t apply their DOT more often than any of our current ones then it’s no form of power creep for Archon teams
jiaoqiu is already designed for acherons kit specifically, theres almost no way a new dot dps would replace him
well a dot support doesnt nessecarily have to be a nihility unit and dotcheron isnt nearly her best team obviously. You could have a ruan mei that gives a buff that applies to dots as well they themselves dont need to have a dot but simply doing something to the character that also benefits their dot does wonders
@@fancymustache3793 yeah a harmony unit that gives buffs that gets even stronger depending on the amount of dots the enemy has

When an enemy puts a DOT on your teammates, they also get healed. With their ultimate, they switch the DOT´s from allies to the enemies side, making it so that they can still put DOT´s on the enemy.

One of the reasons why i'm also convinced that at some point theyre gonna play around with Dissociation and making characters capable of applying it on enemies
Literally all they have to do is to release a DoT specific harmony and we’re golden, my ruan Mei is already stretched too thin lol
tbh i was kinda glad that Jiaoqiu did not wind up replacing Guinaifen as the Fire Nihility option in DoT teams, so for the time being that slot is still vacant.
I love Jiaoqiu and went for his E2 and now he’s a staple in my Kafkaswan DoT team
Hope that a future DOT character still references a metaphorical concept or literary work like Kafka and Black Swan
If jq had his heal then i think acheron kafka jq and black swan would’ve been one of the top teams for a while
I think a dot support with an off handed ability to extend dot durations would go a long way, it would basically unlock black swans full stacks, and fix the problem of enemies being too fast and loosing their dots.

Good thing we didn't make any stupid unwritten rules about break teams because that has been my saving grace.

Imagine if we ever get a harmony character that allows for DoTs to crit, the amount of re-building we'd need to do to adjust for some crit stats but also the payout would be magnificent
I love my dot mommies, they can pair nicely with acheron too
A dot oriented Harmony Unit would be neat.
-Scaling effects based on number of enemy debuffs (not just DoTs like Kafka)
A Clara that forces enemies to take turns without compromising debuff duration like Ruan Mei does would be a dream come true for DoT teams.
*crys in e1 black swan from her first banner* she carried me through my first ever 36 star clear in MoC I will never forget you my love 😢
Love how I’ve been primarily working on my DOT team lately bc it’s the only team I am 100% confident in all the time.
As someone whos been running kafka since her initial run, DOT hasnt gone anywhere, we're just down the road waiting for the DOT Bus to arrive.
TLDR: Applies a special dot, has a summon that retrigger dot damage, and has dot centric buffs and debuffs
Sandra
Path: Nihility
Element: Fire
Basic Attack: Candle Wisp: Deals Fire DMG equal to 100% of Sandra’s Attack to a single enemy. Advanced Soul Flame Lantern Action by 10%
Skill: Deals Fire Damage equal to 120% of Sandra’s Attack to all enemies.
When the Soul Flame Lantern takes action, all allies gain 3 energy (excluding Sandra) for every Dot on the enemy.
you may not bt jiaoqiu but wait you're cooking
Funny enough, I mainly play Sparkle now in my DoT teams. I gave up trying to get 155 spd on my BS so I went full attack and EHR then used Sparkle and it actually worked. Sparkle's pulling, huge dmg buff, and SP recovery fits really well in DoT teams, granted her Crit dmg buff was pretty much wasted.
Hear me out,
Ice preservation, on basic attack can inflict talent debuff.
It just a phase really we gone from dot, to follow up to super break, so it only a matter of time till dot comes back
I guess that makes me relieved I never got Black swan and Kafka (THE DoT duo) and don’t plan to get them at this point 😅😅 love their designs but not enough to pull for them
I'm speculating that we'll get a dedicated preservation unit that can apply a very strong shield while forwarding enemies.
The idea behind DOT shud be u take ur time/turns(effort) to stack enough DOTs on enemy to detonate once to end him or their HP goes to 0 within their 1st/2nd turn(return).
me who plays JQ/BS/kafka/ruanmei (robin): 😶🌫️
There is a LC that makes your Preservation character deals DoT, but we only have a few (only 5 so far)
your voice is an asmr. love it!
We need a DoT support that can make dots crit, like the DU equation
We're supposedly getting a DOT specific sustain in 3.X so look out for that.
That could literally be over a year away lol
@@LjCast-b6q Yup lol
At least there's some hope
One problem Dot is if you're playing with low end device so... yeah it's might explode or crash
I think what DoT teams are lacking rn is an Imaginary Nihility unit that is able to apply at least 2 stacks of each DoT in the game onto enemies in form of AoE
I've been cooking up a made-up OC using this idea and I think it should help fix DoT teams since Imaginary break can be quite helpful for breaking and delaying turns while also having a unit that is able to apply dots that does not match their element via other means (example being their ultimate)
About to watch this. NGL I feel like why we really haven’t had a DOT focused character in a while is because DOT feels complete rn.
Wdym by complete?, dot is still missing sustain and dedicated support
@@eraser2651 As stated, I commented before watching(slight mistake on my end) but what I meant was the engine of Kafka/Sampo and Black Swan was complete. They provide the engine while two other characters support the characters running it. Sorry if I misspoke in that sense. We do need a sustain that works with DOT and I wish Jiaoqou was a Nihility healer like he was meant to be or had his healing reduced.
Also jiaoqiu never had a heal even from V1 beta, he probably had one pre beta based on leaks, but I really don’t trust that
screams from the back: TAKE YOUR SHIRT OFF VARS!
To change that, Hoyo would need to either:
1) Create a unit who straight up powercreeps Black Swan or Kafka
2) Create a unit who somehow does something different with DOTs and this "something different" is compelling enough to displace Black Swan or Kafka
3) Create a unit who synergizes with DOTs so strongly that it's more profitable to run them in slot 3 than a Harmony buffer
4) Add DOT into the other slots (a Harmony, Abundance, or Preservation character who inflicts or explicitly synergizes with DOT)
Also, I'd like to see some better same-elemental-type synergies in general.
It's stacking, let's wait.
SU buffs can make plenty of things broken. You can apply this logic to literally every archetype.
Or they can actually utilize the dot lc to apply freeze burns lol
I doubt theyd do crit dots without some sort of stipulations since break bleed is absurdly strong in Lukas hands.
I really love how this channel addresses hoyo game issues like they're multiplayer games for competitive people. Keep it up my guy.
