i have a similar problem, with pole of -1 , -0.5+-j1,323 and no zero , but the problem is the departing angle on the pole -0.5+j1.323 is plus 20 degree but it feels doesnt right because the imaginary axis didnt intersect.

The root locus for that plot does, indeed, cross the imaginary axis and the angle of departure is 20 degrees.
