    Fun fact, the HR rep, Toby (who Michael kicked out) isn't even an actor. He's a writer for the series and his general lack of acting experience sends the awkwardness of his scenes over-the-top. It's perfect casting.

    • @kenavr
      @kenavr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +219

      I guess some of them had more experience or at least pursued it after The Office, but Mindy Kaling (Kelly), BJ Novak (Ryan) and Michael Schur (Mose) (maybe I am forgetting someone else) were also mainly writers for the show, but apparently Greg Daniels thought they should also be part of the show to experience what the actors are going through and to create a stronger bond between writers and actors.

      @@kenavr Novak was actually only supposed to be a writer, but John Krasinski (Jim) was one of his childhood friends, and convinced production to give him the temp role, which was actually supposed to go away after a couple episodes, but they liked Ryan’s character so much they kept him on.

    I understand that they changed his character from season 2 and he still seems like an almost perfect character to me. But without a doubt the Michael of season 1 is THE BEST.
    It's very similar to his British version of Ricky who also uses that style of black humor, acid humor. How much I like it.

    Office is an amazing show and it's stupid to be offended by it because it makes fun of being clueless, awkward, offensive, racist and everything else that can get a decent person cancelled for making fun of today , while still being a entertaining show. especially Micheal Scott, started as a character that brought me cringe but later you understand that all of it is coming from a place of love and the need to be liked.
    He doesn't do cringey things and offensive jokes to make someone feel bad or insulted but to be accepted and appreciated by his co-workers and ofcourse his behaviour is still not something to look upto but it's something to relate to because all of us just want to be loved and we sometimes do cringey things to get that love ❤

    You need to understand, back then the office UK was the cool shit. So when they were making this first season, they wanted to make it as raunchy and as edgy as cringy as the UK version, because a lot of people are saying that they're gonna ruin it by making it too american. So season 1 was really they're trying to be "cool"
    Larry Wilmore was actually one of the consulting producers that also wanted this to be as "cool" as the UK version.

It was the site of a American victory over the Mexican army in the Mexican American war of the 1840s. To Oscar and all Mexicans that would be an immense insult.

    I remember once seeing a conversation among standup comedians about whether it was racist to do impressions of people of another race than your own. Russell Peters said that fans have never been bothered by it so long as he does it well, then impersonated a fan who told once told him after a show, "That was the best Hong Kong accent I ever heard," in a fake Hong Kong accent. Bill Burr agreed, saying that he always found impersonations of white people funny if they were good, annoying/disappointing if they were bad.
