I never thought anyone could do a great cover of ELP, especially Tarkus. This is genius, and I close my eyes thinking it is the real deal. The organ is absolutely stunning.
Some viewers are a pretty Tough Crowd. This is a cover rendition - not the original artists. Kudos for these performers and any technicians. The years of personal commitment to develop the playing chops, let alone the programming skills, listening patience, and financial outlay is truly impressive. Regarding the keyboard work: The ability to have independence of left hand ostinato patterns verses right hand polyrhythms meanwhile keeping up with setting changes and endurance for not getting a playing break from start until finish is formidable. Considering the complexity of some time figures, the percussionist has to sometimes have four things going on at once. Another consideration is that we are missing some of the sound quality on TH-cam; the live ambient sound was in all likelihood way more dynamic and majestic. Great show guys!
As a lifelong ELP fan, Saw the band at Empire Wembley very eary 70,s I cannot begin to describe the pleasure I'm getting from this post. Absolutely Incredible.
I really like this cover. It's the first time I've heard a band where the singering also does a great job. It's a very couriosly performance. Thanks for sharing this. Huge congratulations from Hungary, the land of Béla Bartók!
I'm an ELP fan and bassist of 45 years. Saw them 3x late 70's then with Cozy Powell. This is really good. Good drummer, nothing is rushed. Great playing all around from everyone. Very cool. OLD GUYS RULE!!!!
Excellent performance. I personally dislike the sound of prog singers who use vibrato, when the masters like Lake and Anderson would simply hit the note beautifully rather than wavering above and below it, but other than that quibble these guys get it and I love this.
Tarkus was lightyears ahead of its time - a tour de force masterpiece by ELP. Your rendition sent chills down my spine - a powerhouse and emotional performance. Brought back so many memories 👏👏
Lucky enough to see Emerson in the 70's & early 80's...Unfortunately I did miss his knife throwing act...But why I am most grateful to Emerson is that his organ playing led me to listen the phenomenal jazz masters such as Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Charles Earland, Brother Jack McDuff, Wild Bill Doggett, and the much under appreciated Gene Ludwig (Look him up!) and so many countless others...There is something about the B3 Organ that fills your soul with joy!
Great cover of a great piece of music!! Close to the original but still with some personal touches to it! Amazing to believe that this thing is actually 50 years old! ELP Rocks!
? I like the fact that this guy isn't sounding like Lake. Do you think he is ? I agree w the anti clone sentiment. The new guy singing on Crimson's last tour sounded a little to much like Wetton in his approach , if not his voice.
Excellent performance and interpretation by all the band members. This is the best cover version I've heard of this extremely difficult piece. I liked the fact that they didn't play it as fast as ELP did live. The pacing is similar to the studio version. The audio mix and sounds are outstanding, especially for a live show. So great to see that ELP's music lives on. I look forward to hearing more! Bravo!! 💖
Wow - these fellas know their shit! Amazing performances...can't imagine how it feels to be able to play this mighty song. Great musicians in this video. Thanks for posting!
Estupenda versión. Me encanta el sonido del korg, pues le da otro matiz a la pieza y el vocalista es extraordinario. ¡La banda tiene personalidad y mantiene el espíritu de este eterno himno!
@@prognostic Hey I mean it. I saw the boys do it many times in person and I’ve heard many talented bands try to do it. I just went back and listened to your set again and I stand by what I said! You guys keep it flowing through all of the time changes beautifully. Best I’ve heard. All 4 of you wail, no weaknesses! The musicianship is really great man congratulations on a fantastic performance. It makes me happy that people love the music that much to do it so well.
2 things: 1) Really great rendition! I love the feeling that the vocalist put on the lyrics. Great musicianship throughout! 2) The bass player...eerily looks like the actor Arnold Vasloo...Imhotep...in the recent "Mummy" movies.
Disagree about the singer...Too much vibrato and a bit more harsh then Greg Lake for me. Greg has (rather had) a more mellow and angelic voice IMO. Good overall performance however. These guys still around?
atcfisherman thank you - I feel honored! But let’s not forget that those who actually wrote this music are the real geniuses. We are trying to keep their spirit alive!
These guys are freaking amazing but that brother that is singing doesn't just sing he interprets the song as he goes. This is one tough b**** or piece of music to cover but these guys do more than that. They take Emerson lake and Palmer's music and they push it right to it's absolute limit. And that drummer is just a freaking monster!
Very good, first time this is covered with some decent and original vocals! Maybe you need some more dirt in the hammond, the Stones and Mass solos are a little too clean
Giuliano Motta Hi Giuliano, thanks for the feedback! Glad you like the vocals. And dirt can be added easily - always tricky to find the right balance. Too much dirt and you loose details in the melodies and harmonies. But a little more will do! See you at one of our gigs?
Great work guys and is amazing that you put and yours stamp to the content but the production is pure ELP as we used to listen !!! Give your own content with this known recipe it will be amazing!!!Keep up!! Thumbs Up!!
Hi guys, I stumbled upon your video while listening to the original Tarkus studio track on Spotify. I've been curious whether there might be someone on this Earth who has attempted a cover of this intricate and stunning piece. Well, here I am! I truly admire the musical talent and instrumental prowess displayed by all of you. Tarkus is undeniably one of the most challenging progressive rock compositions. Kudos to you all! 👍

Oh man, that singer, during the Battlefield section I had chills, WHAT a voice.
Scott Baldwin hi Scott, that’s where charles shows his musical background. Check out our version of „here comes the flood“ - Charles at his best.
5:40 great cover
Nobody can beat Greg Lake
oh my! really really good... off to find more of your stuff!!!
A fresh but loyal cover of a Prog classic. Still gave me goosebumps.
This song could crash and burn very easily. Kudos for taking on this very difficult tune. Loved hearing it. ELP would be proud.
I didn't know I needed to hear a version of that masterpiece with a jazz singer 😮 this is beautiful!
Check out Dave Lawson of Greenslade !
SPLENDIDA performance complimenti davvero ai PROGNOSTIC !!!!! EMERSON RIP, LAKE RIP e PALMER li avrebbero applauditi ed apprezzati sicuramente !!!!!!
Bravo! Bravo! A true, skilled homage to one the greatest prog songs of all time. Keeping the spirit of ELP (and, especially, Emerson) alive.
Congratulations, I love elp and I like other People perform this excelente música its great!! God bless you friends saludos desde mexico😊
Kaum zu glauben! Welche Performance ! Das ist wirklich Spitzenklasse !
One of the best covers I have seen of this 1970’s classic.
Keith Emerson loved the sound of the Hammond B-3 organ. And so do I.
His was a C-3, mine a A-100, but whatever, you are correct! LAURENS HAMMOND!!
@@jeremybender401 ah, they are about the same thing, Jeremy!
god damn this is awesome, holy-shit
Awesome version. Thanks
Very well done. I love the speed of the performance, others try to play it too fast that just smear of notes comes out.
I think ELP themselves always seemed to play it too fast live. Rushing like they had a train to catch or something.

Amazing. This took me on the whole journey and brought me back again.
Speachless. Amazing performance
My friends, there will never be another Greg Lake. That voice was one of a kind. I don't want anyone to try to sound like him.
Agreed. John Wetton as well.

Fantastic performance by all four of you!
Holy crap, I didn't know what to expect when I clicked on this. These guys are good!
Takes me back to 1992 when I saw ELP in concert. At the time they took me back to 1971 when I first saw them! Great music!!!
