    I forgot to mention it in this video, but Yes! You can keep reusing them! Instead of having a multicart or something you can load up Little Samson just to play it on physical hardware, beat it, erase it, program Samurai Pizza Cats, beat it, load up Bucky O'Hare...

    SNES games are more complicated. The cheapest way to buy from INL, like you said, is in bulk. More than likely with SNES, you won't be making a ton of the same if you're doing repros for yourself.
    The boards require the size of the Rom to fill the board, so many games you will have to manually edit via a hex editor to make the correct size. Some roms are required to be headerless as well which is another can of worms. It's not quite just plug and play with the SNES side of the Kazzo.
    Edit: I also wish you would have explained Matching the board type of the game you wish to create with the purchasing of the correct Board.
    Not a lot of people understand where the size of the PRG and CHR, or the types of boards such as "TL-ROM" ,"SU-ROM" , "UxRom", or others come from.
    If you need some help with dumping games, hit me up on NA.

      I bought an original copy of Bahamut Lagoon for Super Famicom, and I want to take out that board and put in one of these INL boards and write an English patched version of the game to it.
      Any idea where I can go to get the information I need to do this correctly? I'm confused over what PRG is, what CHR is, how to find out what size MB I need to write, other things to consider like SNES special chip games and so on.
      Also, does the INL writer and board support PAL roms to play in PAL systems?

    • @majestyzx9081
      @majestyzx9081 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      David White SNES Roms are not region locked, so you can put roms from any region on one of these (adequately sized) boards and it will work.
      Also, PRG and CHR are things you do not have to worry about while using this for SNES games. There is a great README that should answer all of your questions and give a great walkthrough on how to use the Kazoo Programmer

      Thanks man that's really helpful! The only thing I'm slightly confused about now is the fact that there are 2 different slots - for Super Famicom, and SNES - all cart pins are the same size no matter what region so I don't know why 2 slots are needed on this device

    You can also get flashable Genesis boards from Krikzz, the guy that makes the Everdrives. He sells a flashing device and the boards. The boards are only $10 but they don't have an option for batteries like these from INL. Also, flashing those boards are really easy compared to the INL boards. Someone also makes an N64 flashable board too, I forget their name though. Found it: retrostage.net/

    I have the INL dumper/programmer. I use it to dump my own NES carts. It does the job, but isn’t as easy as dumping SNES or Genesis games using a Retrode.
    Hopefully the Retrode gets an adapter some day. I think I remember hearing that INL is working on new firmware/software to make dumping more intuitive.

    Thanks Riggs. Unfortunately like most products in the Retro community this looks like it's going to be sold out forever. Just like rgb and HDMI kits (like ultraHDMI for instance), for some reason the sellers don't seem to want to do it as a business even though they present themselves as a business. I get it when you're doing it as a hobby project, but to do a pro site and setup as a business and fail at logistics is a real bummer.

    Yes its new clean way to má ke repro. But it is no fun, making this reproduction. I love your early videos because it was fun to see you trying and figuring out how its work. Muramasa and other repro boards is still good way for me, to make repros.

  • @TBustah
    @TBustah 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    To me, part of the appeal of making a repro is keeping something from going in a landfill. You're probably not going to find homes for all those crappy games, especially if they're not working or have bad labels, so why not make something new with them? Plus, you get to use a real NES cartridge shell to make your games, giving them a little extra authentic feel. You can still do that with a new board, sure, but then you're left with a naked game board that nobody wants, which kind of defeats the purpose of using a new board.

    The only thing hard about this is trying to figure out which board and size needed to make the nes repos, because nes games use different boards and men sizes. If there was and easy way to figure out which games need which board it would make it easier. That's why I only made one repro nes game and just do snes repros. Snes repros I just need to load the game into programmer software and it tells me how big it is and whether I need to set it to low or high mem setting the boom done.

    • @ericrook78
      @ericrook78 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, if you're making all of your friends a bunch of games each, it will add up. The board is $15-20, cart shell is about $5, and even labels can be up to $5. That's $25-30 per game (not counting shipping). A lot of times its a lot cheaper to buy the hack or homebrew from AliExpress and buy a new label. If they sell the game you want on AliExpress.
