    I did this years ago using your Sunbrella Seamark Charcoal Tweed, from leftover fabric from another major project. Sag-proof!

    I recommend doing a sample of how to determine how many straps are needed. I understand each case could be different but it would help to see her actually do it. Love the video.

      We have gotten a few questions regarding the process of determining the strap measurements for our stool so we added a section in our blog (step 2) going a little more in depth on this process. Here is the link to our blog with written instructions: www.sailrite.com/diy-leather-stool We hope this is helpful for you!

    You can add eye protection to your list of tools when working with staple guns. Cheers

    Hi, can we use scrap leathers and join them?

    • @SailriteWorkbench
      @SailriteWorkbench  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      yes, but it might not be as strong as a continuous piece of leather. Make sure to use some combination of glue and stitching, and/or rivets.

    Would it be possible to make fabric straps instead of leather? (Great video)

      Yes, the process for installing the straps would be the same for fabric. We would recommend using a fabric that has little stretch so that the weave will hold it's shape without sagging over time. So make sure to take that into account when choosing a fabric. Hope this is helpful for you!

    can you elaborate on the distance between the straps or do you just wing it, I'd guess you want some room between the straps?

      We decided to have 1/8 inch gaps between our straps because we liked the way that it looked. To keep this gap consistent, we measured and marked where our straps would go with a measuring tape and scratch awl. If you want to learn more about the strap measurements check out step 2 of our blog: www.sailrite.com/diy-leather-stool

    Cut it into strips to weave them.

    Couldn't you apply the neets foot and dye before cutting and then finish just the edges?

    • @SailriteWorkbench
      @SailriteWorkbench  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can! There are a variety of techniques for different leather craft processes. We personally choose to cut our leather before dying for this project because our leather hide was larger than our work surface so it would have been difficult to maneuver. We also wanted to dye our leather surface and the edges at the same time to reduce drying time. So it's totally up to personal preference and we recommend using the method you prefer for your project.

    Where can I source the actual wood stool?

      This one was brought in by a Sailrite employee. I am not sure where it could be purchased, sorry!

      You can buy dowel rods of those sizes and a tool to drill the hole and a matching (like an old pencil sharpener only
      smaller and for given sizes.... They use these type tools to make rustic furniture out of unfinished poles of different sizes. You could probably have one made up at a cabinet sop cheaper than all the tools but if you like it a lot and buy the tools then you can make many more ....

      Make sure to divide out the number of strips to fit properly...
